Post a Picture - Something You Created!

Hey who said joint efforts were allowed to be posted??

Here's my first attempt at color restoration. This is a anniversary picture of my grandparents in 1948. I did it in Photoshop, framed/engraved it, and gave it to my Grandma a few Christmas' ago.

Wow that's quite a difference! Did you have to ask them what they were wearing or did you pick the colours at random?

I just ran across this one that I forgot I'd done:

A Pokey the Penguin comic.

Thanks. I asked my grandma for the colors and tweaked them a bit when I did the work on it.

Here's something I worked on. I bought a mallsai (cheap bonsai sold at malls) and turned it into two respectable bonsai.

I have further worked on one of the trees, defoliating and pruning it back. I defoliated it to reduce the size of the leaves. They will grow back at half the size.

Nope, but now I'm sure tempted!

I made one a while back too:

However Vega, I love the shotgun you used in yours!

I once had a dream of becoming an illustrator. Now I just post sh*t like this on GWJ:

Just a cheapo Airsoft SPAS I got for like $10. I played around with it before putting it in the case and it broke after only firing a few shots (read the reviews in the previous link). Definitely wouldn't recommend for actual airsoft use, but I liked the look of it.

Bonzai!

Y'know I was just thinking that a bonzai would be pretty good to sit on my desk at the office. They take fairly minor but consistent attention (I think), so instead of staring into space while thinking about my code, I could tend to a bonzai.. hmm.

Nana knitted the scarf body and I added the dots.

Jessie's Girl on one side and Hot For Teacher on the other.

Still a work in progress, but making a game.

A picture I made during graduate school. That's an organ that will become a fruit fly's eye and antenna, two different depths of the tissue. The picture ended up not having any real scientific merit, but it looks cool.

Why is this thread getting so many more hits than the arts & crafts thread? How will the two survive? Do we have to pick sides?

I dunno, arts and crafts are sort of a different niche..? It's a fuzzy sort of difference, like a knitted sweater. Or scarf.

Bruce, that scarf... lol. There's this arcade game at the local TimeZone where instead of strumming you gotta stomp on the notes coming at you.... And, well, I can't help thinking of stomping it while looking at the scarf...

Dwarf fortress! Destroyer of all free time and randomn stuff like war dogs giving birth in the middle of battle then being aided by their new born pupies. Where elephants can destroy entire civilisations and cats are more dangerous then dragons!

One of my older photoshop "paintings" I fiddle with every once in a while - based off a portfolio cover I did for a class back in the late 90's. (bottom)

Not Morder, Isengard.

My stuff I posted is all digital. I don't consider it arts & crafts, though it might arguably be just art.

LightBender, that is some beautiful work.

I see what you did there.

I am subtle, yet awesome.

No wait, that's Sinatar.

Alright, I'm an illustrator, so I'll post a few things. You can see more over at my portfolio site.

First up, a project I'm very excited to be a part of. I'm doing UI and achievement icons for a new digital distribution channel for comics, called Graphic.ly. They're currently in an open alpha/beta stage, but so far it seems very promising. The app includes ways to share comics, make notes in books your friends can see, and the ability to right-click a character in a comic and view an encyclopedia entry, making books like Civil War and 52 actually readable to us normal folks.

Here a birthday invite I did for a friend:

And a design I did for my desk job as a designer/illustrator:

Cool illustrations.

Cool thread! I've only made one worthwhile thing, honestly.

Hmm. I can't say I'm familiar with your work.

Kinda nice, but needs more oogaba

I write a daily comic for my college newspaper.

Here's today's:

It's called, "Island Republic," and it's about a despot. It's got a little bit of Tropico in there too.

I posted some woodworking in the Arts & Crafts thread so I'll post some metalwork in this one. These are just some random photos I've got lurking in my Photobucket account.

Here's a welding table I made:
IMAGE(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Liquidmantis/Welding%20Table/table.jpg)

A stand for a small propane forge, complete with a view of my old workshop garage in Austin:
IMAGE(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Liquidmantis/Forge/forgeStand1.jpg)

And a heavybag stand with chin-up bar:
IMAGE(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Liquidmantis/bagStand2.jpg)

No pictures of any of these after painting apparently.

And here's a repeat picture, but it's beer.
