Star Trek Online Catch-All

Just ordered this off Amazon along with NWN2 and it should be arriving next week?

Is anyone playing a Klingon, yet? Is it a separate faction or can I team up with the Federation Goodjers?

You can only play Klingons once you complete a quest that you get at Lt level 6(?) to unlock them. Klingons are completely seperate and are primarily PvP.

I usually run with my custom defense power settings, 60/90/25/25. I can take a lot of focus fire and keep my shields up. I also have emergency power to shields and shield heal, but I use them extremely rarely. Lately I have been running with my attack setting 75/75/25/25 on my escort. I have to micromanage my front shields more with this setting but it is a blast. I also usually run at 33-50% impulse speed.

As I think I said above, my escort's weapons are 2 dual cannons (high dps 45 degree firing angle) and 2 phasers (low dps 250 degree firing angle). I have no trouble with anything and I have trounced +1 warships before the Klingon captain can even finish his insult of me. The dual phasers make quick work of the pesky little fighters and power siphons. The cannons rip through hulls when not assisting the front phaser in bringing down the shields.

I wanted to go with the science vessel, but that just gives me more options to get confused by. There is a lot to this game that is trial and error because the documentation is thin at best. The best time I've had with the science vessel is with 3 phasers and a mine launcher. GWJers win again for posting great research and impressions.

Any reason I can't add things to the guild bank? This is troubling because I have tons of good stuff that I don't want to just sell, especially if others can use it.

is it full? If not, it could be lag.

It's probably full. I noticed today it was getting close. Unfortunately additional bank tabs cost a bloody fortune.

In the short term, I'd ask people to abide by this general rule: if it's white, don't put it in the bank.

Exception for crafting mats maybe?

Does anyone know if power levels above 100% (from abilities and other bonuses) affect your ship normally?

No, there were empty slots. I had a lot of MKIII and MKIV consoles and weapons to give charitably, but the bank wouldn't take them. I thought it might be lag, but I dunno if there were some command that keeps us lowlife ensigns from messing with the bank or not.

I will take a look once I get in the game...

Could someone send akareth@cobble75 a new guild invite? I recreated my toon.

Sek-Say!

Yeah how do we join Captain's with Jobs?

The USS Minneapolis. She ain't much, but she's got zazz.

OK, I finally got in and played around a bit. The game is surprisingly sluggish on my Quad-Core/nVidia 260 rig; I may have to back my graphics settings down a bit, which depresses me.

Finished the tutorial missions and am hanging out at Earth right now. It's crowded here:

Does anyone know of a good site showing what all the various skill trees are and what they do? This game ships with some of the worst documentation I've ever seen. I've got a few hundred skill points and have no idea what to spend them on.

I'm playing a Science Officer; Dirk "Paleo" Rapier of the starship Indigo Raven. I'll probably be on again this evening and will try to hook up with some of the Captains with Jobs, assuming I can figure out how that works. (Full id is Paleo@Paleogamer, I think is how it works.)

And I notice general chat is already full of credit spammers. Sigh.

Try running it in windowed mode but stretch it out to fill the screen. I had like a 20% increase in FPS doing that instead of running it in full screen mode. I'm running an nVidia chipset as well.

Also the game defaults with 16x antialiasing on. Turn that down to 2 or 4.

Yah I run 1280x800 in windowed mode and have no performance issues.

Yow. I looked in advanced settings and it pretty much had all the eye-candy options on. Turned AA down to 2 and turned shadows down to low and got my frame rate back up to better than "slideshow". Thanks!

And she's not much, but she's mine.

So, I picked this up and am looking to hook up with the fleet.

Gaheris is my ingame name.

So I was in on a mission, and I got DCed and now it is a 800 person wait, sigh. The trials and tribblations of a new MMO (pun intended).

Did I remember reading that this was all on one shard, a la Eve ?

If so, I might be tempted to add some English captaining to Captains with Jobs, though I am tempted to wait a few days for the madness to die down before installing it.

Your are correct, sir.

The queues tend to be heavy on the weekends, but on weekdays there doesn't seem to be a problem getting in the afternoon or evening.

Just got "Connection to Server Lost".

In the middle of this.

Also, beginning captain tip. You can't take on three Klingon battlecruisers solo in a noob ship. Just sayin'...

HantaXP I tried inviting your but it said the name was unknown, it might work better knowing your @handle. Or send an in game message to @Cryxx

So where do I go to train my BO's in tier II skills, i.e. High Yield Torp II?

You have to take Torpedo skills from your main and you can get that skill to train to your bridge.

I thought that was only for Tier III? (because that's what it says in the skill tree)

BO skill trainer is in Starbase 01 right next to the fleet recruiter.

He only does Tier I though doesn't he?

Tigerbill wrote:

Nope, he's got skills for all ranks.

Yeah, I went back and looked around. I was dissapointed to find that all the skills I wanted to train them in where the next rank higher than what I can use on my ship right now. Thanks for the quick responses.
