I'm hoping this game, being set in a city exploding with light from every conceivable area, will have me exploring less areas that are completely devoid of it. I liked exploring around in FO3, but every time I went underground and had nothing but the 2ft. of light shining from my pip-boy, I groaned and rolled my eyes. The Doom 3 effect was definitely in full force in that game.
Some people think it's a scavenger bot, but it looked to me like he was (poorly) burying a dude in the desert.
Nah, it's a Dealer-bot, stuck in chip sorting mode--it is the Vegas of Tomorrow, after all.

Agreed pretty strongly. A little variety never hurt anything. While the burned out husk of the Earth motif worked great in FO3, this being a new team, and Vegas already being a burned out husk, I hope they go Armageddon Neon with the atmosphere.
GFWL curfuffle
While achievements are a vital part of any game, I don't want to buy more space-bucks than I need to download DLC from GFWL's ass-tacular store. It's a digital abortion.
Honestly I didn't have any problems with the GFWL. Yes, I'd rather be able to spend real money rather than crappy bullsh*t points which i have left over. But I believe they're going to be introducing that.
(if you do decide to get F3 on a console, make sure you get the 360 version-- the PS3 version is reportedly almost unplayable at times)
Funny. I plowed over 100 hours into Fallout 3 on the PS3 and never had a problem.
It's a platformer, right?
Gah! I'm such a sucker. I'm a huge Fallout fan (but not NMA level) and actually took a day off work for the FO3 launch just so I could sit and play for 12+ hours. Oddly I never bought any of the DLC. Just watching that teaser trailer has me excited for this title now. Guess I was their target audience with that pointless pre-rendered scene.

Except you can pound on the VATS button as you move forward, so you never get surprised!
Yeah, my Wasteland Wanderer must've appeared to have some superhuman reflexes. Poor radscorpions, all they wanted was a nice little ambush...
I would bet money that you will encounter a "Pimp-boy 3 billion" or something like that in this game. Anybody want to take me up on this? Daddy needs a new video card!

Wow. I can't imagine NOT playing FO3 without Broken Steel being added on. I'd have been super pissed if the game had ended where it did in the original.

Did you have the regular, or GOTY edition? I'm just repeating reviews and things I saw when I was researching which version of the GOTY to buy. Most of what I found said the PS3 version was horrible.

I've been playing Fallout 3 GotY edition on the PS3 for about 25 hours now. I've had it lock up a few times, but I've never had frame rate issues. When it does lock up I can hit the center button, wait about 10 seconds, and the menu will pop up. From there I can go right back into the game and it will work again. Its scary, but I've never lost progress.
My friend had the original PS3 version, and it was painful to go over there and watch him play it after I had been playing the PC version. Night and Day,
More GFWL curfuffle
1) Sign into GFWL
2) Download updates
3) If the update takes go to step 4 if not go back to step 2
4) Download the update for the update you just downloaded
5) Navigate to the DLC you want to purchase
6) Acquire slightly more space-bucks than you need so MS can get a premium
7) Purchase DLC (there is a chance that after you purchased your space-bucks the GFWL page will have reset, in that case navigate back to the desired DLC)
8) If the DLC downloads got to step 9 if not go back to step 7
9) Download FOMM
10) Turn off GFWL so that Fallout can boot correctly
11) Enjoy your DLC for the next month or so until you have to turn GFWL back on so you can go through all those steps again for a new piece of DLC.
It make EA's store for Bioware DLC seem sensible.
It better have GFWL! :)
These are not words that should be uttered by anyone ever. GFWL is utterly appalling and useless.

I agree. GFWL, so far, has caused me nothing but problems. Fallout 3 was buggy enough on the PC (at least on launch) without the the ones introduced by GFWL. After I download some DLC the last thing I want to do is search the internet to figure out how to workaround the problems caused by using the service that delivered it. Let's hope for full-on Steam/Steamworks support in the new game, although I will probably go for the 360 version.
Obsidian is generally crappy buggy unfinished sequel releases, isnt it?

It wasn't that I was surprised by enemies, just that I actually like to see what i'm exploring instead of bouncing off of walls until I get a feel for the area.
This is going to be great, i love fallout but i didn't want to go through the hassle to download all the expansions.
I'm a massive Fallout fan, and a Bethesda fanboy on top of it. I know I'm gonig to love this game BUT I'm still considering holding off until a few patches have been released.

Yes. I was. Very. Still am actually.
I think that when you finish a fallout game your supose to feel like that. I never felt happy finishing any of the originals; but i always wanted to play the next one.
I played Fallout 3 to death but I'm feeling a bit burned out on the series..... Still by the time the game comes out I might be up for it again.

Well, I definitely think that getting BROKEN STEEL is worth it, as you can continue to explore the world after the ending. I haven't gone through any of the others yet, but it seems like they offer another pretty big chunk of extra gameplay.
I can't blame you for being mad, I guess, but if you ever want to go back, check it out.
EDIT:
Glad to hear that even if Bethesda isn't doing this new game that the same game assets are being used.

Well, the difference is *why* you're angry. The first game made me angry at a particular character in the game. The second made me angry at the designers/writers.
Ooooo, I am excited now. Reputation system? PEOPLE WILL HEAR OF KAHN THE GREAT SLAVER OF THE WASTES IN HIS HAWAIIAN SHIRT.
I'm confused. Is Vegas mostly intact?
while super mutants are based in a place called Black Mountain.
I'll laugh if that's the Luxor.
I'm confused. Is Vegas mostly intact?
I believe it was mentioned in one of the earlier games that Vegas was mostly untouched by the bombs, or had been largely rebuilt.
Wait, what is mostly intact?
eh, I beat fallout 3 but my level of interest for another one is rather low. Unfortunately this game had the "oblivion" problem for me whereupon stealth/sniper is so overpowered that the game is lolezmode once you stat those up.
