Guess who came to dinner...

From Yahoo/AP

I guess all that talk about Hillary going to Iraq was a smokescreen for POTUS. Even the press didn't know he was in Baghdad until he walked on stage.

Apparently even the President didn''t know where he was until he was told - Sarcasm boy...

Actually, if you read the article, he had been planning it but didn''t know if it would work out until Wednesday.

Now, I''m no fan of Flyboy Bush acting like Mr. Top Gun earlier this year, and was highly critical of that.

But this, the way it worked out and his attitude about it, I''m very impressed by President Bush. It was a very decent and thoughtful thing for him to do.

Sure, some will dismiss this as a campaign stunt, but I don''t think that''s what it was. It seems like it was just a genuine gesture of gratefulness towards our troops.

And yes, I''m being sincere. I know we''ve been on our sarcasm kick lately, so I just wanted to point out that I''m not being sarcastic here.

So anyway, happy Thanksgiving all. Let us remember all for which we truly should be grateful.

Campaign stunt? He just wanted to get out of Thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws.

Definitely a rare, pleasant story in the news.

I agree, I don''t see how anybody could think this is a bad thing. Very good thing for him to do, good job Mr. President.

oh my gosh, here I am agreeing that this is totally different than the carrier landing. I''m glad he went, and it was done in a classy way with substance, even.

Next week, our Neo-Cons in the P&C will be commenting on how a democrat did a decent thing.

And then Britney Spears will become a Rhodes Scholar.

The man can''t even be bothered to write a quick note to the families who''ve lost someone to the war:

That''s simply not true - some (if not all) are getting personal letters from the President. I saw an interview with a family who lost a son, but I will try to find a link.

Best thing Bushy has ever done, going to Bagdad to visit the Troops.

Ralcydan is right. About two days after General Clark criticized Bush for not contacting the families of the lost personally, he started meeting with or contacting them.

So tell me this...how much time should the President of the United States spend writing personal letters to families? What precedents have previous wartime Presidents set?

Oh, and Clark is a fine one to criticize Bush over troops: the man was willing to start WWIII in Kosovo, and has a long history of berating (and mistrusting) his subordinates. He''s the typical asshat officer I saw on more than one occasion in the Army: concerned more about making sure all the right boxes are checked than the morale and welfare of the people under his command.

Clark also massacred all those people at Waco.

That''s BS - Bush was personally visting families of fallen soldiers in Afghanistan, and was doing it for soldiers in Iraq when the ""major combat operations"" were still ongoing. Clark wasn''t even a Democrat then.

Clark wasn''t even a Democrat then

Yup, it wasn''t until he was walking by a sewer grate in New York and happened upon some radioactive ooze. After that encounter, he found himself mutating into a higher life form, and realized what he had become:

Wesley Clark of the Middle-Aged Mutant Ninja Democrats!

Why am I picturing John Kerry in the Shredder outfit, with Joe Lieberman as Krang, the Evil Brain from Dimension X?

So who is Dubya? Bebop or Rocksteady?

I don''t know. Shredder had those two whipped pretty good. Maybe Dubya could be Baxter the scientist-turned-fly?

Actually, it was his ego that was irradiated, swelling to the point where he became Insta-Liberal, able to spout beams of nonsense out of both sides of his mouth.

I''ll grant you that, but I want him wielding nunchuks of nonsense, because they''re more something a ninja would wield than energy beams. And chuks can be dual-wielded, which still meets your idea that the nonsense is coming from both sides.
