Company of Heroes: Any newcomers?

I'm thinking of starting up a GWJ Company of Heroes group provided there's interest. Last CoH group I was in kinda fizzled. What with the recent Steam sale and the ridiculous low price of $13 for the whole package (seriously, there's no reason not to pick this title up), I wanted to get back to some multi and play with others in a non-intimidating fashion. So my question is who's still playing this game and would anyone like to join a group that plays once a week or so?

I haven't played since the Great Patch Fiasco of '09, but if the game is suitably patched and playable now, I'd probably be willing to knock the rust off and start re-learning to skirmish.

Hmmm, might want to just rename the existing GWJ CoH group. (Can you even DO that?) I never did understand why GWJ wasn't in the group name to begin with.

Would be nice if a rename of the current group can be done..I am part of it still.

I think Edwin made the last group. i just bought the pack but like most Steam games, no idea when I'll have a chance to play!:)

Hmm... there's only one admin in that group and it's not Edwin. Hence, I was going to create a new one WITH GWJ in the name. Provided there's interest?

I think anybody in the old group can send invites to it. I *think*. Might be wrong. I'll see if I can when I get home this afternoon.

I picked up CoH with the sale and I'm just doing singleplayer atm.

If time zones line up though I'd play a game occasionally.

I'd be up for a semi-regular night to play.

I just picked it up as well. Hell for $12 how can you not.

After only a few hours of gameplay I will say that this is the most challenging RTS I've ever played.

Just created a group and started spamming some invites. If you come across anyone else who's interested, feel free to send an invite. When we get a few members in, will try and start up a few newbie games if anyone's interested.

Hit me up.

I'm as new as they come to COH, please invite me.

I haven't played the base game in forever, and I probably shouldn't do this, but... both expansions for $12.50? Yes please.

I don't think I'm in the Company of Heroes group any more, but I'd be glad to play a game or two if anyone else wants to.

The entire CoH Suite of games is on sale via Steam for $13.00 and the Eastern Front mod have me playing again. Wouldn't mind a MP game or two.

So, just confirmed that anybody that's in the original COH group can indeed send invites for it. I sent out a couple.

Can someone send me an invite? http://steamcommunity.com/id/joflar

Picked up the first two games yesterday, after two missions I'm loving it and finding the difficulty thus far spot on. Although I'm on the fence about picking up Tales of Valor before this sale ends, any thoughts? I will play multiplayer once I get the hang of most of the mechanics, seems like there's a lot of replay value.

I would've said buy the whole package, it's $3 extra. But if you already bought the other 2, I dunno. Tales of Valor was just ok. Certainly not worth the original $30.

Have sent out a bunch of invites so check your invites section.

Company of Heroes is my all time favourite RTS. Tales of Valor is a bit different from the Opposing Fronts expansion in that it just adds a few new mini campaigns (3 missions each for a total of 9) and 2 new vehicles per side (8 in total).

I'm a die hard COH fan though and I enjoyed it, but the experience may vary for others.

Never really did get into CoH. I think I might try again this time.

I just picked up the Gold pack (excluding Tales of Valor - hey I had to draw the line somewhere) for 7.50.

It's a bit of an experiment for me... It has been a long time since I've played any RTSs and I'm not sure how much I will get into this game. I suppose though that I wouldn't mind getting a group invite.

So, there are two Steam groups? Is that a good idea?

I was sending invites to the old group since it already had a fair number of people in it. I guess I skimmed Dakhath's post about going ahead and creating a new group.

Whatever works for you guys I guess.

I guess as long as I'm in both groups I don't care how it is resolved. Could you please send me an invite to the other group?

CoH has to be the only game I have that I want to play and can, but haven't bothered to install. I've had a disc sitting around waiting for me for a while after it was given to me by a co-worker when he ordered a replacement video card. If I didn't have 5 or 6 other games I was in the middle of, I'd jump in on this game. I have a feeling things will fizzle before I ever get around to this, though.

Send me an invite to the group if you want and I'll watch from afar until I get around to this game.

For those new to the game, or are rusty (like me), be sure to check out one of the best CoH sites around:

http://www.gamereplays.org/companyof...

That link goes to the strategies page, but also be sure to check out the Replays section. I learned a great deal by watching the best players' replays.

mrtomaytohead, in reference to this fizzling out, you might be surprised. The first group is a year old, and I'm pretty sure people here have been playing since 2006. CoH multiplayer skirmishing is one of the finest experiences available to the PC gamer, IMHO, and it's got serious legs.

Me me me me invite me!

Just grabbed it during the sale and finally got it installed after a Steam hiccup.

If anyone's interested, I'll be on this Saturday at 5pm EST. If you're new to multi would like to play around for a bit in a no-pressure environment, jump on Vent and we'll get a game going.
