Welcome to Gamers With Jobs Radio, the beginning of what we hope to be a long running extension to the Gamers With Jobs experience. Fletcher and Sanjuro host this entertaining take on all the latest gaming news, some views on the big topics of the moment and even a look at what's happening in the GWJ forums. I'd like to point out that the guys are recording from opposite sides of the US so we still have some work to do on cleaning up the audio quality in the next broadcast, but we'll perfect it in time! The first episode runs at 26:60 minutes and weighs in at 5.97 megs, look for a new show every two weeks at the very least. Big thanks to Gameguru for hosting the show file and Elysia for whipping up the super awesome Radio Stan logo. Enjoy!

I like the new format with Name "forum name" Last Name. A little less anonymous, but cool. Any reason why you've done that?

Listening to the show as soon as it's downloaded.

It was Sanjuro's idea, mainly because his name is "Fernando" and ours isn't. Stupid sexy names!

I think the reason is to make us a little more accountable and the tone a little more mature, as you suggest.

It is a neat change. Everyone sounds like a mobster now. Like me:

Joe "JoeBedurndurn" Bedurndurn...

Err.. well I guess results may vary.

I used to think that in order to achieve 26 minutes of bliss on this earth, I should require a cheese grater, rubber bands, and vaseline to spare. I was wrong... so very, very wrong.

What were you saying about maturity, Certis?

That, my friend, is as you say, so very wrong indeed. Everyone knows that a garlic press is much more effective than a cheese grater.

The implications of GWJ radio are terrifying. I wait for the next with fear and trembling.

As soon as you get that RSS feed up, submit it to the iTunes directory (not to mention PodcastAlley and the other sites too).

Well, my name/forum name isn't much different.

One of these names... has a space in the middle.

The other does not.

Good job on the podcast, Fletcher sounds like he's been doing radio for years. Looking forward to the next one.

Excellent first show, guys!
Are the musical intermissions necessary, though? A bit too random, I thought.

PS. Demos, hope you recover soon. Not enough to post another romance thread, though

Had any luck getting Worms Armageddon work after all? Tried it too, failed miserably.

Still listening...

Hah!! This is awesome! I like the music -- good to break it up and let you get refocused.

Hey, Sounds really good, i prefer listening to reading anyday.
When is the TV version coming?

Good job!

Blades

Another chance to hear the glory that is the Sanj? Will it have the same impact recorded as it does "live" over the Xbox communicator? Will it still resound and resonate and make me swoon? Oh, I hope.

EDIT: Keerist, Certis sounds so natural and fluid!

EDIT: HOLY GAWD! Who's the hot chick saying "welcome to gamers with jobs radio?" Dibs! Unless she's, like, someone's wife or something. Aw screw it, I can take the hubby out, who is it?!

EDIT: FLETCHBALLS!

Wouldn't bliss still require these things, in addition to this radio broadcast?

Oh yeah, Podcasting is up, Drupal has it built in. I don't know where to submit the feeds though.

That would be my lovely wife, Karla. She has a wicked hot sexy voice when she chooses to turn it on.

Downloading now! This is great. I broke my foot last thursday and now can't move. You guys are providing me with some great entertainment!

Oh guys, that was great! I laughed my ass off. Indeed, I laughed so hard that I scared some people in my lab; they were sitting there talking about ENVI or something, and here I was snorting racously at the Old Yeller comments... Thank you for making me look stark raving mad, guys.

Fletch, Sanj, you two have better radio voices than half the DJs on Clear Channel stations right now. Even your voice isn't too bad, Certis. Karla's voice, however, put all three of you to shame. She should be like the GWJ Traffic Reporter or Weatherwoman or something. More Karla! More!

I also liked how you talked about what's going on in the forums. That was really kind of fun, since it made me feel like I was in on this big inside-joke :). Poor Demos, though.

*edit: About the music interludes - I really liked them. Good segway. Maybe you could use video game music as the interludes (maybe you just played VG music I didn't recognize?), or, barring that, perhaps some Overclocked Remixes?

Anyway, I can't wait for the next one. Good job guys! That was fabulous!

This is so what I needed this morning - enjoyed every minute of it! Fletcher's quip about the 'end game boss' in Nintendogs brought forth a great chuckle...once again GWJ has my officemates wondering what I'm up to over here!

You guys are a great team, looking forward to the next episode. Yeah, I thought the music interludes worked perfectly...gave me time to get ready for the next topic, sort of the ginger to the comedy wasabi!

Great show and a job well done to Fletcher & Sanjuro. Keep 'em comiing guys.

Oh, one more thing. Fletch, if you lose that bet regarding the 360, there is no need for photographic proof. I'll take your word for it!

This podcast is worthless without drunk talkers! Maybe next time?

I'm not kidding, I had an open webpage playing a Yakety Sax midi ( http://www.discoverynet.com/~ajsnead... ), and I put on my headphones to listen to the show, and I thought the Yakety Sax music was the actual intro to the show. I found it amusing :>

Also, Oh Certis, your voice is so manly!

Edit: Also, I've never felt so "Welcome" to GWJ. Hot hot hot.

Thanks for the "sexy voice" compliments and uh, threats, but Fletcher did something arcane and technological to it to make it sound that good. Recording was a bunch of fun though, and harder than it seems.

Also, Oh Certis, your voice is so manly!

I noticed that too! And Fletcher's voice is perfect for radio!

No kidding, Fletch sounds like he has experience with this "speaking to people" thing.

Edit: Link's Awakening *giggle*

Oh man, you're talking about me! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Funny! Oh well, yeah, I'm a huge loser. We all know it... wheeeeee. Hey wait a sec, I have social skills, but... yeah, that was a Firefly joke, but I was very bored that evening and I was in the middle of watching an episode when making that particular thread... definitely didn't see something quite like THIS coming though. And hey, jerks, it's DEMOS, not Deimos. You guys suck!

Anyway, this is very kewl, I demand more of them ASAP. That and guests. GUESTS! Not me, I'd get made fun of. Not that that's... any different than a normal day around here. :p

More self deprecation! Chop chop!

She should be like the GWJ Traffic Reporter or Weatherwoman or something.

Unintentionally, I am sure, but an interesting look at how pervasive sexism and traditional "roles"/memes are.
Some of my favorite articles were the WoW beta articles from way back.

Nice job, guys. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

Oh, I see how that can be construed sexist-ly. Well, let me clarify. I meant more, "Find a role for Karla in the show" rather than "Find her a suitable woman role in the show". I figured since there were already two "DJs", they probably wouldn't add anymore. So I meant make her something else that you often see in radio shows: traffic reporters (hee hee, she could talk about the website traffic) or weatherperson. If they want to make her DJ, that's cool too - I just figured that wasn't an option as they already had two.

My point: Just put hoochie in the goddamn show, she's got such an awesome voice. Even if it is all digitally enhanced. She could have a segment where she reads the telephone book and I wouldn't care. (I find the voices of many female radio personalities grating, so it's always nice to hear one that doesn't suck.)

I can see how you would take that in a sexist light however. I hope that clarifies what I meant.

Cute... and had some very funny moments.
