How did you find GWJ?

Like a few others, I was an Evil Avatar reader and came over when Shawn/Sean left. Lurked for a while... scratch that, I am still lurking ;)

Feh!! You call yourself a lurker!?! Been stalking these clowns since EA and they can't pin a tag on me!! (Slinks back into the shadows)

/highfive

Once upon a time there was a site called Evil Avatar...

I've skulked around here from the beginning, but I finally broke down and registered under... duress? Still tag-free, though. *scuttles back behind the P&C coffeemaker*

I can't remember. Where am I? How did I get here?

I stumbled upon it when searching google for something like Games at work...or sites not blocked at work... or something like that. I am not entirely sure what I was looking for. I do know it was a complete accident, and I forgot to leave.

My good buddy Cyranix (I assume he's called that here too) has been talking about this place for months, possibly years. I've finally got around to joining. 1up used to be my regular haunt for gaming discussions, but since the "big shake-up" I haven't really had a place to call "home".

There is water at the bottom of the ocean.

Same as it ever was.

I was on a design float, clicked a link. End up on some website, then clicked the Twitter button. Clicked on some followers of said account, an so on. Found this in one of the the tweets some posted. So basically, I twitter creep-ed and found GWJ.

I remember reading gwj stories from at least the time of the half-life leak, and perhaps from before then. I never signed up or began following the forums regularly until the Vanguard anti-review ... I felt a great need to register and make a comment along the lines of "you are stupid and wrong, but you have style!". I can't remember if I actually got as far as writing the comment.

Swamp Yankee's a neighbor of mine and told me about this place. I came for the games and stayed for Everything Else.

Jeez! I've been here 4 years 26 weeks? Where has the time gone?

That's the article that brought me to GWJ.

I received an Ipod for my Birthday and decided to find out what this "podcast" thing was all about. I went to the Itunes store and downloaded every gaming podcast they had listed. I thought the whole podcast thing was stupid because all these podcasts were so boring or it was obviously a couple guys who were trying to entertain themselves and not an audience. I made it quite a ways down the list before making it to the Gamers With Jobs Conference Call and enjoyed it!

I listened to a couple episodes then decided to try and find another gaming podcast since GWJ only came out once a week. After a couple more weeks I decided that podcasts in general are stupid but there must be something special about the GWJ podcast so I googled it and found this website. I lurked for a good long while then finally made a forum account when I realized they let people like Lobster in, they had to let me in!

Orange Box>Team Fortress 2

At first I was a little worried it was Gamers with Jesus or something (NOT that there's anything wrong with that!). Much relieved and pleasantly surprised to find out it is not.

If I remember correctly, I found out about GWJ from "Gone Gold." And I lurked here for quite a while before I manned up and signed up for an account.

My profile says I signed up about a year and a half ago, but I don't really remember how I got here. If I were to guess, though, I bet it came from some off-hand mention from a site called Metafilter. I read stuff there daily and have gotten many good recommendations for sites from there.

For most of the year and a half that I've been a member, I haven't come by frequently at all (or posted anything for that matter). But I've been in a bit of an web-site funk lately, and started reading more here and listening to some of the podcasts and have decided that GWJ will be one my new internet haunts for this coming year.

Squirrelmonkey directed me to the site. We both work in the same building and I was in his office talking about how hard it was to find a decent group of gamers online. I started playing on Battlefield Thursday's and started doing some serious lurking on the forums. I almost quit because someone who will remain nameless requested I mute myself on teamspeak. And I must admit, I can be really loud and obnoxious at times so I don't really hold it against said goodjer. Just know that I'm actively trimming it back when I'm on ventrillo. RichyRambo and a few other goodjers supported me, so I stuck around. I still look forward to Thursdays even though most of the BF players have moved on to other games. There's still a bunch of us left to make it an entertaining evening. Maybe Bad company will bring some of you back?

Found it via Podcast on Zune Marketplace.

This one for me. The first episode that I can recall listening to was the GTAIV episode, which immediately attracted me to the website because the discussion was actually -gasp- critical of the game.

Was it trowan? No wait, I know, it was Jarhead, wasn't it?

I've known about GWJ for a few years thanks to Gone Gold and Octopus Overlords. I've played L4D and L4D2 regularly with GWJ members and figured I might as well sign up and start reading at some point.

I was a refugee from gonegold.com. Came here when the site was pretty young, though I just lurked for almost 2 years. Finally established an account 4 years ago. I obviously don't contribute much--still just an Office Linebacker--but I drop in several times a day.

I can't even remember. Probably because it was mentioned on another podcast, which brought me to the conference call, which brought me to the site.

Playing Joint Ops with Reaper & some other goojers!

Jeff Green said he was going to guest on the Conference Call, so I added it to my podcasts.

I started posting when Rabbit interviewed John Carmack.

I thought that's what GWJ stood for...my whole world is spinning! Well this certainly explains a lot.

Jeff-66 told me about the place. I'm still in lurker phase, but will join a conversation when I feel I can actually add something

Nope on both accounts.

I came via Penny Arcade (possibly for Best Buy Bodhisattva?), stayed when I discovered that people were discussing WoW mechanics in a *gasp* civil manner.

Some homeless dude sold me a magazine subscription to CGW. Wanted to buy a magazine from him, and figured I'd get a computer gaming one.

Started listening to CGW Radio and got hooked when Sean Elliot started doing his Whiskey Nerd thing. "The bottom of my computer desk feels like braile to the finger." The 4/26/2007 episode, pure gold. Eventually those guys led me to GFW and, holy cow, I've never been so entertained.

So thanks homeless guy!! $40 for a $12 magazine subscription was never such a bargain.

Link from Bill Harris' site brought me over. I lurked the forums for close to a year before getting sucked into the TF2 community, and then the L4D crew. At some point I won a plethora of fabulous, fabulous soap. It's probably only the last 3 months or so that I've been listening to the podcast.
