Kick-Ass: Movie Catch All

Pages

I did the usual search and didnt see anything come up so if its already posted... Sorry.

Trailer for Kick-Ass.

I'm so f*cking excited about this movie. I cant help but giggle like a little kid every time i watch the trailer.

They also just released a red band trailer for the character Hit-Girl.

Ok, yeah. Totally gonna watch that. The Hit-Girl clip sold me.
"La la la, Lalalala La la la"

Ya showed it to my wife who demanded that we see it when it comes out.

This looks hilarious. I want it NAO!!

So messed up!

Sold.

I was already sold by the first trailer, but that's the first time I've seen the hit-girl one....genius

Add me to the "seeing this day one" crowd

A decent-looking movie with Nicolas Cage? Time for that ski trip in Hell.

As much as I want to see it, and as much as I like the comic, I have a hard time imagining this movie is going to be released without problems. I'm fearing a serious moral panic about this film.

I can't stop watching the Hit Girl promo. It's awesome. I don't who's doing the action scenes, but she totally sells them. Colour me impressed and entertained.

That does look pretty kickass, but I'm conflicted. The Hit Girl promo is freaking awesome. That statement is a true fact.

It is also true that making a character conspicuously young as a gimmick is so obnoxious it discourages me from wanting to see the movie. This feeling is reinforced every time some asshole tells me how his 8-year-old is a black belt (and how he knows some little kids have "fake" belts from "daycare" schools but no, his kid is actually really really good, trust him). No offense to anyone present whose 8-year-old has a black belt, of course; I'm sure they actually are really really good.

I guess what I'm saying is I can believe someone with a mask and purple hair can kick serious ass but the idea that a child is in any way competent exceeds my suspension of disbelief.

Add me to the fanwagon - tough to tell whether the film will live up to the trailers, but I expect to be watching this one opening day, as well.

That is an odd place to draw the line for a superhero movie.

[Edit: Hit Girl trailer has a nice cover of the Banana Splits Adventure Hour theme song ]

Simple solution: join yourself and dominate the dojo.

She's 12 and i know plenty of 12 year old black belts that are actually very effective.

That's... not where I've heard it.

I really didn't like the comic, and I'm indifferent to the movie. I just feel the mediocre vibe of Wanted emanating from this. Am I alone?

I'm tired of post-modern deconstructionism. Stop deconstructing, stop winking at me. Go construct something, do it with straight face and an eager heart.

Yes, I'm going to go watch Avatar tonight.

+1. I thought it was trying so hard to be cool it was not interesting. However I am an old foggy I think when it comes to current action movies.

I'm game. The whole child angle doesn't bother me...she has purple hair, for crying out loud. Of course she's badass?

Not sure about the movie as a whole, but that Hit Girl clip is GOLDEN.

The preview I saw for this in the theater a few weeks ago got nothing but an eyeroll and a look at the watch.

It's got the freak'n Banana Splits Themesong....

Done and done.

Looks like fun.

Looks like fun.

Is there still room on the band wagon.

Grenn thinks it's doubly fun.

This movie hits all the high notes for me:

1. Kids killing adults? Check!

2. Kids being ruthless killing machines? Bang!

2a. Anything that reminds me of Battle Royale? Hai!

2b. Promises of kids killing kids? Check!

3. Stabbing disreputable women with swords? Sure, why not.

4. Do I give a flying frog about realism? Frak no! Bring on the mini-purple Neo! And check!

5. Movie reminding me of all the fiction I read when I was a kid about kids doing seriously unkiddy things (like mass murder)? Bang goes the teacher's head! (a reference from a Richard Bachman story, The Rage)

6. Movie promising to not skimp on the violence when bullets and blades meet flesh? Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!

Fiction I enjoy due to the nerve of filmmakers and writers who, in this PC-centric twisted world of ours, never flinched when it came to depicting victims that included children:

Red Dawn

The Blob (1984 remake)

Battle Royale

Salem's Lot (the book)

Aliens 3

...and the list would go on but my mind got old.

Any reasons? I mean it is fine and all but you seem really excited about the idea more than just "because action movies are fun"

I still haven't read that yet. A girl gave it to me for Christmas last year, and I haven't gotten to it yet. Keep meaning to.

If her hair was pink, this would be what Lazytown should've been.

Looks like a winner! It won't get me to a theater (not much will) but it definitely looks worthy of a Netflix slot.
