Jessica Lynch criticizes military for manipulating her story

From MSNBC

"They used me as a way to symbolize all this stuff," she said in an excerpt from the interview, posted Friday on the network's Web site. "It hurt in a way that people would make up stories that they had no truth about," she said.
She also said there was no reason for her rescue from an Iraqi hospital to be filmed. "It's wrong," she said.

You go, girl!

I still want to know why her weapon jammed.

More then likely the gun jam might have been caused by the accident that occurred during the ambush. I guess some dirt/debris quite possibly could have got into the working components within the weapon. I have no reason not to believe her account.

We need Reaper here to give us his rant about maintaining a M-16.

Just about everything in Iraq is filmed, she''s just upset she doesn''t have exclusive rights to the footage. This girl has no story to tell, she has amnesia about virtualy the entire event. In her movie Saving Lynch her character is on screen briefly. Now she claims she was raped, but the doctors say otherwise.

The real heroes in this war aren''t cute and perky, so they don''t get to talk to Diane Sawyer or have a tv movie. Sad.

I smell sume-a iruny in thet lest oone-a, Levyerun. Bork bork bork!

Actually, the writer of her biography claims she was raped, Jessica herself disputes that claim

Doesn''t it just suck when youw officiaw biogwaphew scwews up youw stowy?

Actually, she doensn''t dispute it at all - she says she doesn''t remember. BIG difference. The only people disputing the claim are the Iraqi doctors who held her in captivity...and they may have ulterior motive here.

Are ye implyin'' that the doctors might have had a hand in her sexual assualt, if the book is true?

""Who said that?""

Ask and ye shall receive.

The M-16 is a relatively easy weapon to clean and maintain. Simply go to Google and type in ''Maintain an M-16'' and you will hit around a million websites. The armystudyguide.com one is fairly decent.

The primary concern in weapon maintenance (in my opinion) is to ensure a clean and well-oiled bolt while making sure that debris and dirt don''t gum up the works. Too much oil could also cause the weapon to malfunction.

Another concern is the individual magazine. I''ve been foiled many a time (excuses are like assholes) by a fuxxored magazine on the rifle range. There''s nothing that like bastard just not feeding because the magazine spring is all messed up.

Finally, loving your rifle and naming it is the most important part of maintaining the M-16.

The M-16 is a far-cry from the much-heralded ""self-cleaning"" rifle that it was introduced to be at the beginning of the Vietnam War. It, however, remains a serviceble and venerable weapon system.

I''ve missed you so, Reaper.

Who says I''m back? You never saw me! GET IT?

*Dons black stocking cap and runs down shadowy alley.*

Oh my God, Reaper is OJ!

Have you found the real killer yet, Reaper?

Well we know it isn''t Jessica Lynch, with her dirty weapon.

The search continues, apparently. UNLESS IT WAS YOU!!!

Thankfully, with my skilled ""Put the Gloves On"" opposition, I will sucessfully avoid legal ramifications for heinous criminal activity. God bless our legal system.

Back to topic:

Of course that didn''t stop her from getting a book and movie deal before coming clean about the made-up stories...

Point of clarification: she didn''t get the movie, that was the Iraqi lawyer who got it.

I like the implication Ral makes of how when it''s other people telling the story with no information to the events, that''s fine, but when she has the audacity to choose to tell her own story it''s cashing in.

Thats'' not my implication at all. If she had such a problem with the false stories, why did she wait until she got her payout before denouncing them? She had every opportunity to say everything she did - but if she had come out saying that she hadn''t fired a shot, the military used her, etc, she wouldn''t have got a dime... Hardly noble motivations.
