League Of Legends Catch All

As ranged you should engage behind a line of your creeps. Alot of enemy abilities can be block by your creeps and they will also retaliate if you are attacked. Be wary of your current wave's health and retreat when they are getting low. Also, brush is a good way for melee to sneak up on you so try to put as much space between yourself and the brush as you can.

Ranged advantage is that they can chip down melee classes and deny them the ability to gain money and xp. Ranged characters tend to lack as many escape and movement abilities so its harder for them to run from suprise attacks, so you have to always be excepting them. There's alot more tricks depending on which characters you were interested in, but there are many basics that work regardless of your class choice.

Thanks for the games today guys! Cant wait to get some more in.

Definitely play up the ranged aspect of your ranged character. I've been having a lot of success with Morgana, but if I'm not on the ball with my snare, or if they manage to snare me, it can mean death in short order. That said, Morgana is very tough for a ranged character, I would not play Ashe or Janna the way I play Morgana.

Is there a set time you guys meet up and play? I've played DoTA before and have jest recently jumped into this.

So I cant seem to play a mage/ranged character for the life of me, all I do is feed the enemy team. I am great with master yi and Kayle though. Any thoughts?

Most range guys are on teh weak side so until you get the gear to handle its best to keep your distance. I know its hard i have the same problem.

I play Tristana mostly and odd as it may seem ranged is much easier for me. Specifically because they movement of tanks/melee is so slow in the beginning... you can't really get up and get kills on minions as easily until you get the hang of it.

I wouldn't say Tristana is the best - the game is not balanced - twitch, ashe, etc are OP I think. I play her as it is fun.... and can be deadly end game.

I am a Sion-tist! This guy has become my best character. I like the stun, the damage and the health building and lifestealing. It all works together in a minion slaying, turret crushing tanker-ganker. I woke up this morning and won both of my games my kills were double my deaths and had lots of assists too. Now I want to learn a super gank style toon and/or a mage.

Super gank style, eh? Twitch definitely has the tools to fit the bill. You should also look into Shaco, the Demon Jester. I played a game last night where an opponent was running riot with Shaco, he's very deadly.

He is a bastard and I will have nothing to do with him! They should make it so any attack interrupts his teleport.

I hate twitch and wont play him. I am thinking of either the jester or either Evelyn or Katarina. I just got Ryze.

I play a mean Morgana and a decent Annie, both nukers and way too much fun!

Are you guys using Ventrilo or just texting it?

I've been learning Katarina of late, and she's extremely rewarding if you always remember that she is a ganker to the extreme. I just finished reading this guide to her, and everything in it rings true. Get in, make the kill(s), and get out.

Evelyn I've also tried, but honestly I think Katarina is the better choice if you want to seriously gank. Shaco strikes me as being a Katarina style character but with a bit more stealth, so you probably can't go wrong with either Katarina or Shaco.

QFT, I didn't understand how his teleport worked until after the match was over. Now I realize exactly why I was dying precisely 5 seconds after he disappeared.

EDIT:

Morgana players unite! She's my main so far, I get a kick out of catching 3 or 4 champions with her ultimate. Suicide run usually, but I've gotten multikills off it before too.

Katarina is actually one of my favorites to use.

thanks!

Around what time do you all play? Every night when I get on, nobody else is, so I'm probably just too late (West Coast time ftl). I'd like to join everyone here for a game soon.

I continue to smite my foes by practicing Sion-tology. Stay tuned for more lame Sion themed puns. =)

I am so much more successful with this character than any other. I think Warwick looks similar and I want to try him.

Wondering the same thing here on the East Coast! It would be great to get a team together.

It seems a bit random, but just hop on vent if you're looking to see if folks are playing.

Man, that 1 win a day thing is hard! I need to stop sucking so bad a video games...

Ah, guess it's time for to re-install vent then.

Damn, I forgot to play my player match last night. I'm sitting on only 2 losses so far, but I expect that will change as people start buying Shaco more.

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!?

Count me in as almost always being down for a game of LoL. Nathanial introduced me to it yesterday and was actually on the winning side of my first match. I'm still pretty overwhelmed at the myriad of options for enhancements and characters though.

My LoL handle is General Wilbury (someone out there actually took Lucky Wilbury).

I'm amazed at how good the production values are for this game. I thought it was some kind of crazy-ass, dad's-basement, faux development shop made up of a bunch of guys who made a custom War3 map and thought that qualified them to know how to do a full game. Not so! It's exactly what Heroes of Newerth failed to deliver...DotA done professionally. And I think their business model is quite clever, at least for the short term while the capital holds out. By making it free to play, you ensure a large user base for the game, and those that wish to pay for extras or faster unlocks may self-select to do so. How they're going to make money down the road remains to be seen, but that's not my problem. I wish them the very best of luck, as they've done a good job here.

Quick tip for those who come in without DotA experience...I know some of you last night only had played Demigod before, which was a far less ganky game. Remember DeNiro's quote in Ronin: "Whenever there is doubt, there is no doubt." If you are unsure whether or not to fight, do not engage. If you are pushing a lane and you notice that a couple of red heroes have vanished from the mini map and you're wondering whether to keep pushing or back out, back out. Knowing when to be aggressive will come naturally, in time. Until that happens, the best thing that anyone new can do for their team is to farm, participate in team battles, and avoid feeding. When uncertain, run.

Yeah, your tips were a great help during yesterday's match. Nathanial's? not so much. I kid, I Kid. Although I did die less than him.

they got an 8 million investment a while back from a Chinese company, expect to hear about them a lot over there.

The idea of the game is to play so much you'll want the most complete experience; both hero-wise and full aesthetic (reads skins for champions and skins for maps).

Yea i got in to the Heroes of Newerth beta to compare against this. While it does look amazing it definitely has captured all the things i DIDN'T like about DotA. On the other hand LoL has all the things i liked about it.

I hope their business model succeeds, because what they have here is fantastic. Like Ranalin said, it captures everything that was great about DotA and does away with all the stuff that was bad.

Lucky, if you're feeling overwhelmed by the customization options, pick a champion and take them into a bot practice game just to peruse the item store. It's a lot at first, but once you get the hang of navigating it, especially by using the item tree on the right side, it becomes a lot easier. I also recommend picking out items other than the recommended items once you know your champion a bit better - the recommended items are fine for a start, but you can really turn a champion into a razor-sharp tool for victory by selecting just the right items.

...

Except for Shaco. Shaco is death with jingly cap no matter what. Damn jesters and their jack-in-the-boxes.

I just redownloaded the game after Fedora telling me that there's a good number of goojers playing. I didn't get that much into it so if you guys have an open spot in a game let me know so I can add another game to my list of things I'm sub par at.

New update. New hero.

Sivir had the sh*t kicked out of her. Big time nerf, but she did seem overpowered at times.

League of Legends version 1.0.0.63

Death Recap
League of Legends now includes Death Recap, a helpful feature for both new and veteran players alike, which shows the major sources of damage that led to a Champion’s demise. When a player’s Champion has been slain, the player can open the Death Recap window which will summarize all of the fatal damage they received during their final moments. The Death Recap window not only provides informative tips on how to avoid being killed by the same champion and spells again, but also displays the items the killing and assisting Champions have, and the stats of those items. The fatal damage taken is broken down on an integer and percentage basis, so that players can have a complete and thorough understanding of exactly how they were taken down.

Champions

NEW: Nidalee, The Bestial Huntress
Javelin Toss (Human): Nidalee tosses her javelin at long range, dealing increased damage the farther the javelin travels (up to 250%)

Primal Surge (Human): Nidalee calls upon her bestial heritage to heal an ally champion and grant them an attack speed bonus for a short duration
Aspect of the Cougar (Ultimate): Nidalee may freely transform between a human and a cougar at no cost. While in cougar form all of her attacks are melee and she gains additional dodge and movement speed. Leveling this skill increases the effects of her cougar abilities
Takedown (Cougar): Nidalee jumps at the throat of her target, dealing her attack damage plus a static bonus. The damage of this skill increases the lower life percentage the target has
Pounce (Cougar): Nidalee pounces forward, dealing damage in a small radius.
