EDIT: Here's a guide on how to get the Moustachio and Gnome achievements in Dark Carnival:

something isn't right because the stats say I've played 17 Versus maps. I've played two.

OMGHAX - myrwynd is stealing everyone's achievements!!!

Well I've apparently finished 5 finales even though I've only played 2. My completion percentage is through the roof!

In your case I'd be willing to believe those stats are legit.

Spoiler:

A car, even a fancy racing-type car, can require 13 tanks of fuel whereas a boat only needs 4.

Spoiler:

The Diesel was dispensed into four containers that are filled all the way to the top by the survivors. The gas that you find in the mall is scavenged containers that refugees were using for fuel lamps or generators or what not, with probably not a ton of gas left in each can.

Leave us alone! And take your fancy logic with you!

Spoiler:

Got to love those gasoline lamps.

I'm sure Keith was involved.

He has hair he just didn't keep up on his hair color treatments :)

Looking at your pic: He was apparently a 4-time Super Cup Champion ('77, '81, '84, and '85). This zombie apocalypse didn't start until October 2009, so the youngest he could be is ~48 years old (I'm calculating this by assuming the youngest age he could drive at was 16, so the earliest he could have won the Super Cup was if he was born in 1961). He turned into a zombie when he was at least 48, hence the grey comb over. /douchenerd

Correction. You have to be at least 18 to drive in the Super Cup. Don't question my redneck racing knowledge.

Remember those less than kind things I said about versus?
Disregard them.

Yeah I haven't played vs. in forever, but L4D2 vs. was super fun! And not just because I was on the winning team (well it might have helped my enjoyment a little). The games seem to be much shorter than I remember, which is a good thing as well, since I rarely have time to go through two run-throughs of a campaign

Thanks to Lars and stupidhaiku for helping Argo and myself through Dead Center tonight. It was my first run through, and Argo is a total L4D newcomer (and relatively new to FPSs in general). He said he had a good time, so my special thanks for your guys' patience. I look forward to running through the other campaigns with GWJers.

Certis called me a c*cksucker.

No problem, dragon, I've been told I'm newbie friendly.

Yeah, it's us vets that despise you.

Ugh. Tip: When you are waiting for the ferry in the swamp, and you hear a Charger, get AWAY from the dock edge altogether. One second I am shooting zombies, the next I am at the bottom of a shockingly deep river. And my whole team is laughing.

It wasn't until I tried switching weapons that I actually died though. Still really creepy down there.

I was surprised at the difficulty L4D2. Here I thought Normal mode would be a cake walk...was I wrong. Even though I got left behind from getting saved the runs are still a blast!

We got hit with a charger in the same spot just a second ago, only it knocked all four of us in. Must make a note of this for versus mode.

Question to anyone who is in Europe (but not UK) and has pre-ordered a retail copy: is your game delayed for the 23rd? Mine is and I was told that both the PC and 360 versions are delayed for EU until 23.11.2009. Can anyone confirm this?

Hopefully Friday?

Well, it's nice to see that horribly imbalanced teams suck all the fun out of Versus just as much in L4D2 as they do in the original.

New info on versus scoring: If the round score is tied (for example, both teams made it into the safe room with all four people), there's a tiebreaker applied. The team that did the most damage as special infected gets an extra 25 points.

In my opinion, that's just enough of a bonus for really grinding the other team down when you have a relatively easy map (short, no tanks, no witches, for example). And since it's based on damage done rather than health kept, there's no incentive to hoard kits. You might be in trouble if you get dangerously low on health near the end of the map and let the infected team knock you out--but you're not losing score by using that kit early enough to keep you alive and then having a few slivers of life chopped off.

Overall they really did a bang-up job on the new scoring. Games are much much closer. No more "they managed to get all four through in one map and we all wiped every other time, so their final score is 10x ours". It keeps the competition intense, and lets the team that's behind stay hopeful for a chance that they could pull off a coup and totally demolish the other team on one map to make up the difference.

Great stuff.

How unbalanced could they be? We are all pretty new at the game. It only came out on Tuesday.

Incredibly unbalanced. There are teams that just don't work, which get absolutely smashed when facing a team that can actually play as a team.

The bad teams are always the silent ones (hint), so there isn't even a light attitude about things, which can easily redeem a bad match. Nothing but terse "Hunter's got me!" and the like setting a grim air. Between that and the forgone conclusion that the team you are on is going to lose every single round of the match, there isn't simply isn't any fun.

I like both Lars and Quintin, I will play on a team with them, and the other well know jerk Burnt toast any day. On the other hand ever since Camnipotent called me an asshole in a finale I cant seem to remember I have hated him and will never play in a game with that jerkface again. He can die in a fire. A DA style grease trap fireball fire. So there!!
