Has anyone seen much of this one? Hard to tell what gameplay is really like, even from the video, but it has my 8-bit lego sense tingling.

It's voxels!

Some kind of wacky editor in there. It's by From, but that video is incredibly Zelda in the characters, environments, and even music.

Oh man, it reminds me of that one dungeon in Persona 4...

May 2010!

THANK YOU ATLUS! \(^^)/

Yes indeed!

Only $40? Fantastic!

I was hoping this would be a DLC game for maybe $20, but I guess I could just wait for the price drop.

That looks really cool. One more reason to buy a PS3.

The game is going to be $40.

Not unreasonable.

Yeah, for $40 I'm all over this.

I also heard some Final Fantasy influences. It looks interesting, but some of the combat looked a bit rigid where it seems they could have maintained the feel with a bit more fluidity. Specifically the sequence the character was being overrun by enemies.

I watched some more videos on this game last night, and it looks very Zelda-esque. The wife thinks so, too.

It's added to my list of games to consider when I get a PS3.

Looks cool! Oh, PS3 only? Nevermind.....

this was a GREAT find! thanks for the post. $40 dollar price for a creative ohmage to all the old school 8bit rpg games...i'm sold.

Atlus released a really cute trailer for this today, playing on the Dos Equis interesting man commercials:

I have been waiting for this game for so long, just hurry up already!

I might have to buy this, even though I never actually play games I buy for my PS3...

LOL THIS IS AWESOME!! I can't wait, the price is just right. I can't wait for this old school throwback

I am super hyped for this game. I've been longing for a good Zelda adventure game, and since Nintendo obviously isn't planning to deliver, I'll be very happy to take this. Plus it's Atlus, and they've yet to do any wrong in my book.

I'm excited for this game, but there are two things standing in my way: 1.) I don't have a PS3; 2.) the blur around the edges of the screen gives me a headache if I look at it for two long. I get the look they were going for, but I think they may have overdone it.

Totally. From Software has their hand in it also.

Add another game tempting my hand on a PS3... From Software's gonna drive me insane.

This new knowledge has upgraded this game from "rent" to "buy". Demon's Souls has firmly rooted my trust in From Software.

Don’t forget, 3D Dot Game Heroes hits PS3 May 11 for $39.99.

WHAT?!

Currently $37 (rounded up) on Amazon. This was a shocker to me too. A brand new, next-gen system game retailing for less than $60? And it's not God of War Collection? I'll drink to that.

I really, really wish they'd make a 360 version of this game.

Is there any reason they wouldn't? Sony funded or anything? The idea of having to borrow my roommate's PS3 to play a game I own becomes less and less attractive.

I haven't read anything about this, but given From Software's past with 360 I wouldn't count on it. They started out as a 360 developer, but their games didn't sell very well (Chromehounds, Enchanted Arms, Tenchu Z). Given that their latest 360 game was Ninja Blade, and the only one they list as upcoming is Armored Core 5, I think it's a safe bet that they are focusing more on PS3.

EDIT: Of course, they did just release an XBLA game, so who knows. No mention yet of a 360 version of Dot Heroes though.

Never say never.

I wouldn't count on it either but it would make sense, given the buzz Demon's Souls has generated on PS3, to eventually port it. Perhaps not this year but I wouldn't be surprised if something like it was announced before 2010 is through. Ditto for the thread's titular game.

Or perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part.

I do so love that meme.

How has Nintendo not sued them? Someone looking over my shoulder during the preview asked me why I was watching an old Zelda playthrough.

That's funny. I was considering starting a Catch All thread, as a site search didn't bring up any threads on the game.

I'm stoked for 3D Dot Game Heroes and am easily on board Day One. Reviews I've been reading are saying that the writing in the game is excellent, balancing homage, irreverence and parody. That did a lot to sell me.

The only thing killing me is that Red Dead Redemption and Split/Second are also releasing in the same window (good thing I'm not interested in Alan Wake or Mario Galaxy 2 either). I'm not good at juggling games so I had to pick one. I went with 3DDGH 'cause it looked to be the most under-the-radar release of the bunch that could use some out of the gate support.

That and the fact that I'm kinda paranoid that Nintendo is gonna pull the rug out from underneath this game's release!
