I'm such a consumer whore. All this talk about V and my childhood memories made me check the availability of the originals on DVD and I found the mini-series, series, and movie all on Amazon. Order placed. I know it cannot possibly stand up to my memories, but I couldn't help myself.

You need to be willing to laugh at it, but they're still entertaining.

Yeah. I found myself deep down excited for their victories at the end, so it's not that bad.

I got the TV series as well....

So no talk at all about this yet?

I watched the first two episodes and while I don't have any particular complaints about it, it just isn't grabbing me, which is odd as I really expected to be into it. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Maybe episode 3 will catch my interest, otherwise I don't see myself really watching it much longer.

I'm still in the 'it's okay' camp: nothing incredible yet, but I do find it somewhat entertaining.

I noticed something interesting when watching the second episode: Anna blinks her eyes 3 times in a row pretty much consistently. I don't really know if it means anything, but I thought it was a nice little touch the Moreena Baccarin added to the character: gives her an extra little creepiness.

I've been enjoying it. I thought the first episode went much too quickly and should have been a two hour pilot with more meat to it. The pacing didn't feel right.

I was also surprised at the early reveal. I thought we'd have a week to a month of reveal build-up, but they just jumped in with both feet. Not a complaint, but it makes me wonder what the core focus of the remaining season will be.

This plus the new SG:U scratch the itch for some more traditional science fiction television. I'm pretty happy with the show.

I found the pilot to be spot-on, and found the second episode almost a little slow by comparison. At this stage it's reminding me of the earliest parts of the first season of Earth: Final Conflict, which was the only good season of that show.

They were saying after last night's episode that next week is the last episode of 2009, anyone know if there will be more episodes starting in January?

IMDB says episode five will air at the beginning of February.

(Warning, plot summaries for already aired episodes behind that link. If you'd prefer to avoid them, don't click.)

Lame..

Wasn't this projected for 12 episodes total? Scheduling choices like this plus the overall 'interesting but not great' quality of the show would guarantee that I wouldn't watch it if I didn't have a DVR.

I enjoyed the original very much it was on before I was born but caught it in syndicate when they showed it later on and use to always watch it. Now the funny thing is I never knew the series was called V all I ever remembered was the lizards or basically the reptilian skin in the old one and when this series started getting hyped is when i finally put two and two together

Never saw the original.

Gave up on this in the middle of episode 2. Just didn't do anything for me, even though it has Elizabeth Mitchell.

This is where we're at. I remember watching the original series as a kid, so I wanted to like it, but my wife came in cold and was making fun of the acting about 30 minutes in. She normally does pretty well suspending her disbelief, so when she started in with the snark I knew we were done for.

They revealed a lot in the pilot, more than I expected. It's making me think they're holding back on a new reveal that wasn't in the original show. That or the show is just going to die after this season.

well they are only showing 4 episodes this fall, then a couple more next spring, which is really... odd. The bulk of what they blew through in 50 minutes during the reboot's pilot was what almost the majority of the original miniseries covered. It was kind of strange, like blowing through all of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers in 5 pages just so you can spend an entire novel focusing on Frodo and Sam climbing up towards Shelob's Lair. Uh, the stuff you blew through like an intro was supposed to be the meat of the story....

I haven't watched the latest but I hear that sexy vixen

Spoiler:

lizard

gets nekkid!

Nothin' ya can't see in Smallville. And check out that acting!

Watching the show from last night... Post Traumatic Stress Amnesia..... Come on guys... really? Can't you come up with something better?

I haven't given up on it yet but it seems like it's going to die a quick death at the hands of the network. Perhaps I'm just blocking out how bad the original really was.

Well, it's pretty bad, but it's "80's bad" which through the magic of 25 years makes it "80's awesome".

I outright reject the notion that the original mini was bad.

meh, it wasn't too bad... It isn't like he stayed that way for weeks, it was a very short term deal (as in maybe a few hours by the looks of it)...

Spoiler:

It is also possible that the doctor induced it on purpose to find out exactly what he did end up finding out

Before this thread gets out of hand. I watched Ep1. I resent when I can see the pitch meeting. Battlestar Galactica was a remake of a sh*tty Sci Fi series from about 30 years ago. If we remake a sh*tty Sci Fi series from about 30 years ago we will make even more money because we are ABC not Sci Fi out in Vancouver.

And that seems to be what there was. Someone wanted them some of that BSG money. And we gotta strike while the nerd iron is hot.

Except the original V wasn't sh*tty. Cheezy? Oh hell yeah, I mean, Marc Singer fer cryin' out loud. But the story, and the way they told the story, was awesome.

Amen, I still to this day want a ferret.

Haha! The only thing more cheesy about the original V than Marc Singer's hammy acting was that dreadful blonde doctor who looked like she was crying in every single scene she was in.

A lot of things seemed awesome back then that we now know better than to endorse.

I wonder if they'll do that again.

I endorse Beastmaster! I do! But only the first one. And only the movie.

Also have eye-bleach on hand for the scenes of John Amos in a thong. *shudder*
