GWJ Server Move, Act 2

Section:

As mentioned on Monday, we're going to be moving to a new host! The transfer will happen on Sunday, provided Pyro isn't dead, and hopefully the DNS will have resolved for most of you by Monday. Have a great weekend and hopefully it won't be long before we're back on a regular schedule.

Comments

Could we get the ip of the new server so we don't have to wait for the DNS to be updated? I'm a crack monkey like that.

Looks like it'll be 204.251.13.12

Thank ya kindly.

Nei, that is quite possibly the coolest emote the world has ever known. Nice.

Downtime is not tolerable. Not for what I pay for this place.

Agreed...

Oh yay thank god the site is back. I was so bored today.

*sigh* Thank God you're back up. The methadone, it does nothing.

You're back.. I knew you missed me baby, I knew you would come back. A love like ours can't be broken that easily.

What's that baby, you've changed, you're different know... Baby why you all flicker and stuff when I click your sexy links, you re-sizing on me 2 or 3 times each...

That's not all baby, why are all centered and stuff... That is hard to look at baby. I liked the old Left justified thing you had going on. You changed, you promised you wouldn't do that after the last bit... come baby, I want the old you back

And, with a contented sigh, I can now stop working.

Phew. All that concentrated productivity was killing me!

*GASP*

*cough, spit, wheeze*

Did you see, guys? Did you see how long I could hold my breath? What? What do you mean you weren't watching? That was like, SO LONG!

Thank you, Lord.

one word: weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !

I was suffering from GWJ withdrawal.....

I dearly miss the search function. I assume we're bringing it back?

Can someone tell me why all of the sudden the display of the page is all funny, The text come up centered etc... It really is a pain in the arse.

I've been using Google with the site filter. It may not be up-to-the-minute, but it's great for not getting coughed at (on?).

We have some performance issues to sort out before we get the site search back, it's a pretty important feature and Pyro will do his best!

Seconded. It's fast and it keeps the server load down. The only problem I've run in to is that if you look at the cached version of a page, the graphics go all funky with the "stolen from gwc" errors, on you and seem to set a cookie that does screwy things to the other pages until you clear your cache. Could just be a mozilla issue though, haven't tested it with firefox or IE.

Huh. I was trying to hit the site yesterday and couldn't find anything. Is it something I said?

Oh my god, site access, finally! It's been a long, agonizing 2+ days without a regular GWJ fix.

So, mean while the GWJ was down I had a life changing revelation about me and online self. The thing is that, in here every one accepted equally no matter what their faults or odd preferences, etc... there for this could be considered a place where one can obtain some level of peace and tranquility. As if partial escape from little reality that majority of us hate... like going to work, paying the bills or just dealing with people who have way too many opinions about everything that should not have in the first place. So mean while the GWJ was down, it's like a slap of reality. That, yes, you are at work and you still have 8 hours to go through slaving in a small office dealing with judgmental people who I would push out of 30th floor window. However the more I was thinking about it, the more I though that, me going to work or paying bills, etc... is to keep that little access to that digital escape where some things just seem to disappear and I yet again attain a little bit of that peace and happiness even while I sit in the office dealing with people who I would rather stab, electrocute, burn, shoot, run over with a bus, pushed out of the window or even go back in time and prevent their birth.

That is deep!
