Idle F***in' Thumbs Podcast

Damnit to hell. They're going to stop the IdleThumbs podcast? Damn.

That's a major bummer.

Do they say why? Their website is blocked here.

That's crappy news. They said it's because Nick's leaving (to become community manager for Bethesda softworks I think) and they don't want to do it if it isn't the original line up. Fair play I say, I just hope they have other projects on the way.

They mention on the new podcast why. Nick Breckon has a new job at Bethesda so he won't be allowed/able to be on. Hopefully they're either get a rotary of guests or a permanant new member and reconsider. It feels like they're quitting right when they're hitting their stride.

Bethesda is in Virginia so I kinda thought he was moving. I guess he could also just be not allowed to be on given that he's marketing.

I will never forget the day the wizarrrrrrrrrrrrrrd died

Seriously guys?

You are way too good at casting to hang up your gloves.

This makes me sad. I just started listening 2 or 3 months ago and I listened to the entire backlog and it was awesome. Idle thumbs went from off my radar to one of the select few podcasts I actually look forward to every week.

It's a shame that every time a good group gets together to podcast it gets split up because, frankly, podcasting is alot of work for not much actual return. I wish there was a better system in place where podcasting was actually profitable for you. I'd pay for Idle Thumbs but sadly I know that whatever small contribution I'd make is a drop in the buckt.

Seriously though, you guys are too talented to not do a follow-up. Everyone on the cast is funny but Chris Remo, sir, you need to keep the creative projects going. Hell, make some songs and release an album. Not only were the songs humorous but I found most of them to be quite catchy as well.

Well...let me not go all EMO for REMO. (oh sh*t...time to start making t-shirts)

THis was some really crappy news on a day in which I'm already sad.

Sappy stuff I completely agree with.

There is just no way that you can quite like that. There is too much gold here; too much talent. What a waste. I demand more pods to be cast into my face!

I think that it is worth noting that:

I'd like to hear Chris Remo do another song one of these days. I request "Space A**hole" (Red Faction).

Space A**hole almost made the Idle Thumbs news bearable.
Thank you Chris, but that doesn't make me not mad at you.

There is no god! Now I will have to write some code to mix all the episodes into new exciting episodes! Its like the Garfield scrambling site. But with podcasts.

Sadness.

With this gone the only gaming podcast I consistently listen to anymore is One Life Left.

There is no love in the world.

Hey, the Pax East reunion is gonna be sweet, though.

Very disappointing. Even though I started this thread to gripe about them they've become my second favorite podcast. And even though I started this thread to gripe specifically about Chris Remo, I've come to really enjoy his insights on various gaming subjects. I hope the remaining thumbs keep podcasting, even if the Idle Thumbs podcast is put to rest.

...Maybe join Giant Bomb? Eh? Eh?

Our Lord Big Bird has abandoned us!

That's a real shame. I haven't listened to this week's episode but that bums me out huge as Idle Thumbs was quickly becoming my favourite gaming podcast. I can understand them not wanting to continue if they can't keep their dream team together but that's still very sad news.

Booourns! Love lied to me again.

I just started listening to this podcast like 3 weeks ago and now it's gone

I just started listening to it from the beginning. Guess it will be easy to catch up now.

So that's two of my three favourite podcasts retired. If the Conference Call packs it up I just won't know what to do with myself.

I'm emo for Remo!

It's weird; a year ago I had too many gaming podcasts to listen to and now there are basically two worth paying attention to after Idle Thumbs goes away. Damn. Although I totally respect the guys for realizing what made Idle Thumbs work and hanging up the boots instead of bringing in Poochie the Podcaster (i.e. David Ellis).

Whatever Garnett Lee does over at Shack for a podcast can't come soon enough.

I think it's odd that they are calling it quits after one member leaving. Really, Chris Remo talks 90% of the time, so it's not going to be a huge difference. How about rotate out the 3rd chair?

Ya, Chris? (I know he lurks on these forums)

Same, sad times.

I started listening to Thumbs a couple of months ago after it was getting love from the GWJ crew. And I've learnt this:

I have no idea what everyone else likes about it.

The 3 guys are likable enough, but the podcast doesn't click. From them talking over one another constantly to it regularly devolving to overlong bits of nonsense back-and-forth that seems to be entertaining the 3 of them way more than me.

That said, I was going to give it a few more months to see if the penny dropped for me. With this one down, it seems that my podcast library is coming up a little short now. Maybe I'll finally getting around to listening to the insane number of TEDtalks that iTunes has put on my laptop.

This is the part where I nearly ruin my keyboard. Coke hurts when it comes out of your nose.
"Space A**hole" didn't make you laugh? Then I conclude that you are too mature for I.T.

Quick, someone start a petition!

That's the same thing 90% of the other people who posted in this thread said, and lo and behold two weeks later they were posting "holy sh*t, what was I thinking?"

Amazing. It's like you're practically begging me to hunt you down and kill you.

Jonman, profess how much you love Joss Whedon right now. Trust me, it'll be funny.

It was a great podcast. Better to burn out than fade away though. I'm sure Remo (and maybe Jake) will be back at some point, they're just too talented not to be.

Remo should edit a GWJ podcast.
