EVE Online - Catch All & new meat check-in

so, i picked up EVE on a whim since it was $5 on sale at D2D, and it's been a week....

one week later, I'm almost done going through the 3 initial 'career path' tutorials, and I'm still learning and becoming more ensconced on a daily basis. The game is obviously ultra-complex and has the most dynamic universe I've ever experience - it's overwhelming and nothing short of mind-blowing how robust the game is.

Is there a corp with all the GWJr's? I haven't really made any contacts in the game yet, and the only real interactions I've had are through the rookie chat channel asking for help.

There's just a GWJ chat channel at the moment. I'm the head of the ersatz GWJ Enterprises corp. but I'm not playing these days. I think some goodjers have joined one another's corporations, though. The seasoned players are sometimes looking for new recruits. Or at least their coalitions are. Talk to folks in the channel.

Come back Monty, we miss you !

If not - send me all your stuffs

Wouldn't you rather have most of my stuff?

Well, if you're offering....I'll promise to name one of my carebear laboratories in your honour

I'm thinking about it, as I've only logged in 4 or 5 times since I bought my last GTC, and I don't really see myself logging in much more anytime soon. I still have around 3 or 4 bil in cash plus a very nice cadre of stuff out in 0.0 if you're willing to go get it :P, its in a faction station so access isn't an issue, just the gate camps and roamers. Although I'd probably still keep my medium shield booster 2 print, I might have another print laying around you could have.

Can you ask one of your corpies to drop it in Empire - I might even spring for a decent courier charge

*sniff* ZZ's stuff is better than mine. I see how it is. *sniff*

Monty - it's OK, my hanger has room for 2

Ah see thats why its out in 0.0, this stuff is leftover from 2 or 3 moves ago :).

If you want it I'll setup a contract to you, its all in a freight container so if you happen to know anyone with a jump frighter it would be easy to move it. Otherwise it might take some time.

There are a lot of new players in the corp I have joined, if you intrested give me a shout in game.

The handle is Waltz Sachem

Cheers ZZ, I shall put it to good use !

Had some 'fun' tonight

In case you haven't guys seen big (well, decent sized at least) fleets:

If you open the map, show ships destroyed in the last 24-hrs and look up 9-4 and 2-6 you'll see two blobs

For me it ended with getting double doomsdayed =/

CCP wants you to Harden the F$!# Up!

I think I'll try to get to the next fanfest...

Ok so the video was a little painful to watch. But any company that makes a music video with their executives actually in it, dressed like that, swearing, basically telling their current and potential customers to grow a pair, is a winner in my book.

Echoing Nuean's sentiment here. I found teh video hilarious. And CCP Hillmar (is that his handle?) channeling technoviking?

Now I want to work for CCP. Just imagine at family gatherings, when relatives ask what I do... I just play that video.

That did make me smile a lot - just wish Fanfest happened at some other time of year than Oct/Nov.

I wasn't convinced...until Techno Viking showed up. Made my day. I could never work for them. I'm not badass enough, alas.

The video was awesome, albeit in a horrifyingly scary way. Technoviking was played by Oveur, the most famous of drunken developers.

CCP has a truly awesome corporate culture. I really miss the days from a few years back prior to the T20 incident when the developers and staff were frequent posters on the forums.

Permaband is an awesome title, cracked me up.

I re-subbed tonight, name's Dal Riata. I'll try to find the GWJ chat channel and say hello. I'm an Empire monkey, mostly just ran missions, mined, and had fun relaxing while listening to music. It's been a year since I played, so I'm way behind on fits, and I'm going to be all kinds of rusty, but I'm excited about playing again. I blame the Alliance Tournament videos on CCP's Youtube channel for getting me to resubscribe. How can you watch those tournaments and not want to get back into the game?

channel name is 'GWJ', password is 'gwjeve'. If you are playing in US timezone, there should be a few people knocking about, so just say hello.

And I'm GMT +2 and there was usually someone around when I was playing. Usually fstarta or davet iirc.

I haven't been on as much lately and fear I am losing interest. I've been training Sentry Drone Interfacing 5 for almost 3 weeks now and the lack of any new progression for that long seems to have impacted my desire to continue playing. Add to that the fact that the skills I really need to train all will take 10 - 22 days to complete and I just can't get as excited anymore. I mean, c'mon, going 3 weeks in any game without character progression is just too long.

I've thought about playing around with exploration, factional warfare and/or joining a 0.0 corp but, I dunno, I'm not motivated at the moment. Maybe a break of a few weeks will help.

This is a common issue with newer players. You're trying for too many level 5 skills early in your career. You can train several skills to level 4 in the same amount of time as you can get one from 4 to 5, and in the long run your character will be much more effective with a broader skill base than with a few highly specialized skills trained to 5. You'll also have quite a bit more fun seeing and doing new things as opposed to waiting weeks for a 5% boost in damage.

And this from a man who was advising me just a few pages back to train for T2 heavies and hardeners, two L5 skills with a combined training time of over a month.

Seriously, I think I am at that point where training for some of these L5's is necessary to gain access to T2 items. I've got lots and lots of L3s and 4s right now. The increased range, tracking and damage modifiers for T2 sentries will provide a good 30% increase in my DPS. No other skill or set of skills will provide that sort of impact in under 20 days.

Ahh, but if you remember that post from a few pages back it started out: "From the items you're listing," Unfettered recommendations from me are always variants on the theme of "pick a small ship and learn to fly it well before trying for bigger and more expensive craft and skills."

I can't remember what your char name was. DeVil - I fear that I might have unwittingly been nice to you

Jula Jamari. You gave me money, my character is pretty hot. :p

I'm not saying the two are connected....not until I look you up when i log on tonight anyway.

I don't know what numbers are like during US time, but it's getting pretty sparse in EU time, there's usually only 2-3 of us. While that cuts down on the welcome packages I have to hand out, and means that my beer is still in the clubhouse fridge the next day, it's always nice to see some fresh me....err, faces. So if you do play, log into the channel and we might even be nice to you !
