Which map is the one that screws up the textures? I thought it was glacier but that seems to work fine for me.
It is glacier, but it the map itself doesn't show the bad behavior. It's when the server loads the next map (and from there on out) that we were having the issue. Any particle effects are all screwy, but fire especially. Here's a post in the Steam forums about it.
Works for me.
Folks almost always RTV after 2 playthroughs anyway; if you set it to three, it'll give them the opportunity for a tiebreaker if they want it.
how about one round on CTF maps? I can't recall if its set that way already...

FTFY. What's with all the ctf hate? We never even play them.
Does anyone have any preference for how many times we go through a map? Is once per side good enough?
I think it should be set to 3 rounds because if it's on 2 rounds then we won't have time to rtv and pick the next map. It will just go to next in the rotation.

Is that first to 9 intel caps?!? A round is first to 3, right?

It's probably because many CTF maps are poorly designed, and end up being turtlefests with a bunch of scouts running around in midfield while engies set up on the intel.
Boooo CTF.
Yeah, typical CTF round:
Both teams spawn as a bunch of scouts who cap the intel a couple of times, the other team gets paranoid and builds 10 sentries, and it takes 20 minutes before the next capture happens...
I kind of like CTF in some maps but it's very rare that one team doesn't turtle...
The problem I find is some of the CTF maps have the intel inside an underground box with blind corners, making it very sentry friendly. They are impossible to attack without being killed immediately, unless your a spy, and there's no room to maneuver if a pyro wants to help defend too. This means either uber or stalemate. And if they have multiple sentries, which happens quite frequently if there has already been 2 caps, you need multiple ubers, or several offensive classes coming in behind the uber.
Well is a better layout, since there is no way for a single engineer to cut off access to the intel and not be very vulnerable. All the good set up spots have an alternate path circumventing them.
I'm going to bump the ctf love/hate to the other thread.

This sounds like when we move from the pubby to the private or vice-versa and everyone leaves. I forsee this debate ending here as well.
CTF and KOTH maps need to get played more often.
We will be adding CTF_Snowdrift for Friday nights game. Jake has added it to the web site but it would be best to download it ahead of time.
Hooray! Have you looked at the round limits for other maps? I know on Monday when we played some of the new maps it seemed to switch maps after three caps.
Castle was definitely borked. I think Observatory was too.
So this looks like an interesting map, and it is CTF so maybe it will satisfy Ukick's bawling: CTF Backpier. The basic difference of this map is that the CTF is on a cart, that gradually moves forward during the course of the round, until it is at the center of the map. Basically it is an anti-turtle CTF map. It is also created by the guy who made Frontier, and is based on Frontier's last point.

You guys are moving so fast I'm going to be totally lost when I get my RMA'd HDD back from Seagate. Please just keep the first post of this thread up-to-date so I don't have to go hunting for map downloads.
Do you remember which ones? I adjusted a few of them over the weekend.
It was mainly a problem with Attack/Defend maps, since each cap is a point for the attacking team, at it would max out at 3 points quite often.
Damn, double post.
Hooray for the private server, or something...
bah!

I approve of this message.
we're already adding a map just for you
I don't have a user account at that forum where Snowdrift is hosted and I can download it fine.
http://forums.tf2maps.net/downloads.... - CTF_Snowdrift
If you're not going to host files on the server, then fer chrissake, only use ones that are on servers where anonymous downloads work. I'm locked out of the game tonight because I can't download the damn map, and I can't download the damn map because I can't register a freaking user account on this stupid forum, because it's slow about sending verification mail.
If I try to just download a map, it constantly gives me an error message, telling me I have to wait somewhere between 10 and 20 seconds. And no matter how many times I wait -- and it's been a LOT of times, it doesn't work.
And now that I'm partially logged in, I can't even do THAT much, they refuse to allow non-verified to download. If you're partially verified, you have fewer privileges than just random internet people, apparently.
If you're going to put a map on the server, that's fine, but you need to make arrangements so that we can get it. ctf_snowdrift_test2 seems to exist only at this address, period. Google searches don't come up with this map version anywhere else.
