I couldn't help but chuckle at that. It reminded me of a Paul Rudd line from Forgetting Sarah Marshal, something along the line of "Does the carpet match the pubes?"

Also, apologies if that offends anyone, it wasn't meant to.

Apologizing before anyone gets the chance to rant? No. ... No. ... That's not any kind of fun at all!

Lol your cats name is Thrall. That's awesome.

Parallaxes case is the Antec Skeleton. How is that holding up with a cat in the house?

And I didn't even name him, the girl from the Humane Society did.

It's been fine, though YMMV depending on the cat. Thrall sometimes knocks off my figures and sits on top of the case but he's smart enough not to stick his paws in it. There are many reviews of the Skeleton out now but suffice it to say it's purpose is purely appearances. It is easier to dust since there's nothing to take apart but having everythign exposed doesn't make your PC easier to work on. I did some quick impressions of building with it a while back here.

Very simple setup in the office. Haven't embellished it much since finishing a renovation recently.

Gaming setup. I play sitting on the floor, and make my kid do the same when he plays.

Why is this?

Your house also has a very tan, black, silver theme to it from those few pics. It looks like you have a lot of nice things like paintings and sculptures. I'd recommend putting something above the TV, right now it looks a little blank. I'm only saying so since you've already got such a put together and coordinated look.

No, he really shouldn't.

Yeah, I'm with the cap'in.

I think there's always room for improvement.

Well, at least level it out by removing the two higher things hanging to either side. If the TV was up half a foot to a foot, it wouldn't be unbalanced. It could also be the angle of the shot.

This thread should be called "Things McQuaid wishes he could afford".
Also, am I the only person in the world who still uses a CRT monitor?

Anyway, I'll put up a picture tomorrow once I find my camera so you may all witness the failure that is my desk.

Fixed.

Edit: Nevermind, way too large images to embed.

Give a guy some time to take smaller pictures- geeze!

I can think of two reasons why Rilla sits on the floor -

Perhaps something to do with sitting on the floor being better for one's back

Or, perhaps the opposite

Maybe sitting on the floor means you can't slouch and get *too* comfortable, so you'll play for less time

I'd feel kind of dishonest posting pics of my PC, since I haven't done any gaming on it in months. I get in the occasional round of Drakensang on my laptop (XP partition on a MacBook Pro), but that's really infrequent too. Of late, nearly all of my gaming happens in the living room (super crappy cell phone shot):

It was just to your left the whole time!

So you snapped the pic on your phone, then walked up to the speaker to have a sip of juice or slurpee or whatever that is, turned around and there was the camera. That's the narrative I made up in my mind for those two photos anyway.

For Captain_Arrrg, it'd be something about getting wrecked and playing the same chord on the lute for twenty-five minutes.

Hey Yon Rabbit dig the rug!

The rug totally ties the room together man.

Ha! I should really watch The Big Lebowski again. I didn't really appreciate it when it came out....probably because as a college student in Texas I knew way too many people that weren't all that different from Jeff Bridges's character. Or John Goodman's for that matter.

SHUT THE F*CK UP DONNIE YON RABBIT! You're out of your element.

Yon Rabbit:

Nice speakers! Even better with the grilles off. I also spy with my little eye a subwoofer. It's always nice to see a gamer with an interest in the audio aspect of the experience. The only thing I'll rebel against is the stuff on top of the speakers... arrrr! No geegaws on speakers, yarrrr.... Not sure why I was kind of talking like a pirate there.

My theory: Because pirates are awesome!

Thanks! Yeah, the pictures on the speakers are one of many concessions to my wife. I've tried cranking up the volume to shake them off & thereby convince her it's not the best place, but no luck; I think the windows would break first. The other concession is the closed cabinet, which has to be opened whenever the xbox is on so it won't overheat. I mean, seriously, I did not buy a universal remote just so that I would still have to stand up and walk across the room to open it like some kind of goddamn neanderthal every time I want to play a game or watch Netflix.

By the way, they're Fluance speakers & sub. I kept seeing them recommended on A/V forums when I was investigating how to put together a home theater system on the cheap. They review comparably to Polk Audio, but waaay cheaper. It's a Canadian company that only takes internet/phone orders, so they aren't available in any brick & mortar stores.

It's time we heard from the podcasters in this thread. Let's see that mancave, Rabbit.

Yeah why hasn't Rabbit, Certis and everyone posted? I want to see the podcast equipment stat!

Listen. I love y'all, I really do, but some of you really need to invest in some shelves. And garbage cans. And cable ties. And, in some cases, a steam cleaner

Alright, thanks to you people, I spent too much upgrading my desk. I have two new monitors, new speakers, and a new mouse. Observe:

Who knew the enabling extended so far beyond just the games themselves?

Yeah, this thread is really striking into new forms of evil manipulation. I feel the pull to go invest in some new screens, and several of mine aren't even that old.
