Borderlands (catch all)

Also of note in that article is that the PC version will have mouse designed menu and inventory systems, which should make some of us happy.

Thank zombie jezus! I've struggled with gamepad only systems before and its like trying to play a piano after getting your hand stuck in a bear trap.

Ah, I love a good trap-piano solo.

Destructoid reports that the PC version will be available on Steam and will have extra features, like the ability to export neat guns to a .jpg.

Fantastic! I hadn't seen confirmation anywhere that it was, in fact, coming to Steam. You would think that is a given nowadays, but then I'm still waiting for Blood Bowl to make it there.

Hopefully we can get a group of PC players for this

Well I'm in on day one.
Like some of us, I wasn't very keen on the idea originally but in the last few months as more and more information and videos were released, I've started to believe.

To be honest, the point where I was finally turned around on it, was the very first time they showed one of the crates opening up. It opened up smoothly into a weapon rack and each time it was different. While not all the slots were filled each time, whatever guns that there was, was found in a unique shaped slot just for it. And when picked up, looked exactly the same when being wielded as it did on the rack. It's the little things really, and sure beats just random firearms just flying into the air and dropping to the ground around the chest.

I'm not day 1 but it won't take much to get me to buy it. So maybe day 3 or something? I just need to hear a bit more from people who have played it, or try a demo.

Is there or will there be a demo? Any one know?

Hmmm. I've got it preordered for the 360 (split screen local multi sold me) but if the game is as good as I hope, I may have to also get the PC version, since my 360 playtime is usually limited by my wife's mood at the time.

I don't have my source, but I'm 95% sure I read that there would not be a demo prior to release.

My god those system requirments are low! I may actually be able to play this.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------------------------
OS: Windows XP/Vista
Processor: 2.4 Ghz or equivalent processor
Memory: 1GB System RAM (2GB recommended with Vista)
Graphics: 256mb video ram or better (GeForce 9 series or higher/Radeon R8xx series)
Hard Drive: 8 GB or more free space
Sound: Windows compatible sound card

Went to Best Buy to preorder today. Stupid small town brick and mortar hadn't even heard of it.

Picked up the pre-order for my brother and I. Guess I am in on Day one. Pity that the pre-order news kinda got buried in the L4D2 pre-order news.

I hope they release the benchmark early so I can be sure I can run it decently before I buy. I never trust system requirements or even recommended.

Not sure where you got those specs from but they might not be official...

I just asked our Marketing VP (Steve), and these are not the official requirements. We haven't released the official requirements, so these are probably just an approximation.

It's still a fair guess that if you can play other Unreal 3 engine games decently, Borderlands should run just fine.

Quiet, you, let me dream.

If you aren't looking forward to this one yet, here's another reason. Gearbox's Creative Director Mike Neumann has been fielding questions on his Twitter account today.

I cannot wait to wield something called the Genocide Matador. Hopefully it comes close to living up to the name.

I just pre-ordered Borderlands, on the strength of the Genocide Matador.

Will you ever see that weapon? They're randomly generated aren't they?

Have fun.

Damn you, now the stat whore in me is going to play on that sight and take the fun out of learning the game. The stat whore in me says Thanks!

Not a day one purchase for me yet, but I hope it got enough A-RPG in it, and not just 'generic FPS with randomized weapons'. Going to wait for reviews.

Yes, they are randomly generated... however, I will still dream my impossible dreams of violence. (sigh)

Oh Genocide Minotaur, you're such a dreamy dreamboat of destruction!

I'm going to laugh when you get the Schizophrenic Unicorn instead, it's shoots rainbows at enemies that aren't really there.

What's the GWJ consensus on this one...PC or 360?

I'm going PC for it, no doubt.

You need to read more articles and watch more videos and look at the skill calculator I posted. Does that thing not SCREAM Diablo 2?
If not then perhaps you should look at this

Pretty sure that's been covered in this thread, but I'll bite again. 360 day one.

Is anyone interested in getting a 360 group together to play Coop. I don't think I'm interested apart from the coop. If so, are you planning on a release day purchase? We could always wait through the fall rush and pick it up for cheap in spring. Maybe it's too early to decide for most people.

Yes sir! Count me in.

Dang, you're right. I completely missed it earlier in the thread. Disreguard.

Yeah, already covered, and seems to be a pretty even split. No Consensus, but plenty on both platforms. Choose your poison!
(But if you want to play with cool kids like me, you'll choose PC.)

I will probably go PC.

PC for me
