Demon's Souls - Catch All

Add me to the non-import list. Just pre-ordered from Amazon for a release-date arrival.

One week guys! All of us who didn't import (so that's like what, 6 of us?) only have one more week to go!

Hurrah! Now I just have to finish Drakensang this week! (Note: There is no chance of this happening.)

And of course I will get it AFTER my week and a half vacation.
H1N1 is still around, right? Hmm.....

I pre-ordered from Amazon too, but will be out of the country till the 18th, and then will be working on a thesis defence. So I probably won't be playing it till sometime in November.

Avoiding spoiler sites, can anyone tell me how long this game takes? And what exactly is the new game? A second play-through?

1) No, unfortunately, I still haven't finished it. Been playing for 30 hours so far. I'm pretty far though.

2) Yup, a second play through with tougher enemies. The black and white tendencies come in to play that unlock some other areas within levels you couldn't get to before, but I believe it's mostly loot and not a bunch of new areas to explore. (Note: First playthrough you can completely (and should) ignore the concept behind black and white tendencies.)

Pre-ordered! Of course I need to get my PS3 up and running, now.

I've had this pre-ordered for a while. Can't wait to jump in next week. We should get an official list of everyone here that will have the NA version so we can join up and enjoy dying together.

I've pre-ordered and can't wait. I'd be up for an official list for co-op, too.

I'm also preordered through Amazon - getting excited as release gets closer.

Looks like they bumped up the difficulty of the US version to insane. One of the guys on cheapass gamer said it took him 6 hours to get to a point where on the import version it took only 20 minutes. You can't picked the difficulty either.

Yikes. Hope that rumor's incorrect.

Edit: They apparently patched out an exploit from the import edition that can give you infinite soul points. Maybe that's what he was talking about?

I pre-ordered on Amazon as well, so I'll have it on release day.

I'm gonna pick this up day one so add me to the list for Co-Op. Inioth on PSN so friend me up. I don't have a mic though so hopefully that's no problem.

I got this on pre-order, but I am a little bummed out about the difficulty rumor. If anything they should have made it EASIER for us fat, lazy Americans.

I'm getting it from Amazon on release day.

Add me to the Co-Op list.

I'm also release day via Amazon, up for co-op.

Despite all of the Wiki's, trailers, and thread jabber, is it wrong that I want to go into this game a bit... noobish? Like, I want to learn by failing and throw my self at the games mercy (or lack thereof).

That's what I'm doing. Knowing everything about a game before it releases takes the fun out of it for me. I like going in blind.

This is a great game for going in blind. Once you've put a few hours in, there are probably a couple facts you're going to want to dig up about some of the deeper mechanics, but don't rush for them.

I rarely read preview coverage, or even threads about games here that I'm interested in. All I know about Demon Souls is what Certis talked about on the podcast, so I'm in the same boat with you guys.

Me to, But I am excited for it

I wasn't going to pick the game up but I was listening to the conference call and it convinced me to go and preorder it.

I even preordered the Deluxe Edition.

Only a couple of days remaining. I don't know if my copy will be here on Tuesday, but I sincerely hope so! I almost hate that Brutal Legend comes out next week. It'll be hard to tear myself away from this one!

Asking for it for XMas because of school. I know what a giant time sink it's going to be.

I'm jealous everyone else is going to get to play before me.

Woohoo I'm stoked. Only one more day.

I stopped by Gamestop yesterday and they had gotten the artbooks and soundtracks in. It just so happened I was Storytelling a World of Darkness game that evening and we put the Demon's Souls soundtrack in for flavor. It was awesome. We all really enjoyed the soundtrack and it was perfect to roleplay to.

So, the game's even harder? I don't mind. This is the sort of game that you buy because of the difficulty. I want this game to beat me and call me Susan. I've just got to get myself into the proper "Ninja Gaiden" sort of attitude.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Nope I heard that they were completely wrong on the CAG podcast and the developers have said it's the same, they never touched the difficulty.

Source?

Common sense.

Atlas has indicated a few times all they're doing is cleaning up some localization quirks and that's about it. I don't think the gameplay is changing at all.

So, was there a consensus on making a play group for this, or is that even possible with this game? Some previews make it sound as if the online aspects are somewhat random as to who you associate with.
