Still crossing my fingers for this; trailers, whilst intriguing, indicate a slightly different direction than the one I was expecting, a little more Huxley and a little less Cthulu maybe; we'll see - of all the offerings in development, this one seems to have the potential of taking MMOs somewhere new and moving the genre on a step.
Glad to hear its not going down the FPS route in any way, the look/palette in the trailers is very reminiscent to what they've been doing with Huxley, and I wasn't expecting as much inter-faction stuff, more state vs enlightened maybe. With so much of the early talk being around anima/magic from the 'hollow earth' it was a little jarring to see a shotgun being the defensive weapon of choice. Just hoping the paranormal themes remain central I guess, and it doesn't turn into a 3 way factional battle, with the otherworldly elements being little more than set dressing; I'm hopeful
EDIT: Gah, submitted partial.
I've been anticipating this since I saw the first concept art and info a couple years ago. I hope it really turns out into something very different from what we have nowadays and I believe Funcom usually do a superb job on creating an awesome atmosphere on their games. That's what I'm looking for here. I loved Anarchy Online and even with all the initial problems, I do enjoy Age of Conan quite a lot.
And by the way, I'm Illuminati!
<- Another Dragon
Templar here.
While I appreciate that even the most, arguably, traditional of the 3 societies seem to be given into the embracing of modern weaponry, do we really have to paint crosshairs on our uniforms?
I am happy with her painting whatever she wants wherever she wants.
I dont get the Huxley reference because this isnt going to be a FPS based MMO. It will be sandbox'ish with skill based levels.
The trailers are just showing off the societies and a look at the world.
I still get the Cthulu vibe with the way they're handling the 3 different factions and making them work against each other while trying to fight the evil in the world at the same time. Power hungry people getting themselves into trouble because of their greed/desire is awesome With them not allowing the 3 factions to intermingle they're forcing you to pick sides early and to perpetuate the power struggle.
I get the impression the factions will be able to intermingle in PvE.

It's early enough for them to change their minds a bunch of times yet.
Change their minds? Be real. MMOs never change anything pre beta, beta or post beta. Its all set in stone!
Much too hard to chisel the slate clean and recarve stuff.
Aaannddd predictably, I didn't like the questions, or the groups. It decided I was Illluminati. *shrug*
I saw that on www.gamesindustry.biz - quite disappointing, if not entirely unexpected.
This game has me pretty excited, not Star Wars excited, but excited. Much potential here.
Much potential here.
Hmm, that reminds me of something. Something...Funcom made, maybe? Their last game....what was it? Hmm.
Love the idea. Now just deliver the quality content.
Good art, but I hope they don't rely on zombies heavily in game. There's so much other lore to tap that I'd hate to see a current fad hamper.

All the zombies they've shown have had a lovecraftian spin to them. One of these even has a Innsmouth on one of their shirts as another point of homage. Page 4 they show some other shots of zombies possibly in the game.
That does make me feel better.
ARGS are fun, although it has been awhile since I followed one...
