Aion GWJ Guild Thread

Pages

Against my better judgement as a lapsed MMO player, I'll be playing Aion once it launches next week. If we have enough interest, we should pick a common server and get to forming a guild or at least friending each other up.

Official GWJ Servers

Seil Server - Elyos

Marchutan - Asmo

I'll be playing an Ass.

Don't care what server since they are all PvP, just point in a direction and I'll follow.

At the risk of opening a massive can of worms, I can't help but wonder "why a GWJ guild"? Can't we just get all the goojers to join an established guild. It's not that there aren't tons of great people here that we all love to play with but there has only been one guild that's lasted through any MMO in the last 5 years. Even that was a shaky for a while. Why not just agree to join a large guild with lots of players that doesn't dissolve in two weeks? From my limited understanding of Aion it's fully open PvP. Not the sort of thing conducive to small guilds.

No offense to anyone (because I'm included in this mess) but we're the kings of overhyping a game, playing for 3 weeks and then moving on only to leave 3-4 people stuck in a GWJ guild with a very dim future.

You're easy like that. TRASHI... STAB!

I think the problem with joining an established guild is lack of control, plus it's hard enough keeping track of the character name/forum name translation, so knowing there's a room full of GWJ folk brings along a much friendlier vibe.

I have no idea how rooms are setup, all I care about is the chat with Goodgers really, meet up, and knock off a few quests. I don't really care if we have a big above our heads, I just want us to be able to talk/quest together with relative ease. At the three month mark or so when we hit cap (or earlier?) people can go their separate ways or drop out, but at least it makes the first few months fun.

And who knows, this one might have some staying power, considering it's not a befuddled mess out the gates.

Edit: It also makes Vent a bit cleaner hearing familiar voices..

Frankly, I'm not really interested in joining a giant guild to "raid" or whatever it is giant guilds do. I'm primarily interested in a GWJ group simply so I know I'm playing with good people who I'd want to group with and won't be raging weirdos. I don't see a problem leveling up with a casual group of people and moving onto a larger, more structured guild if you feel your needs trend in that direction.

I also don't play well under the oppressive yoke of people who take their games too seriously. To me, a guild is primarily an extended friends list.

So what you're saying is, you want to avoid the butt-horns.

I agree with Certis and Swat. Big guilds be damned!

Oh, and I don't care which server we go on. Though I think it would be fun to go on the opposite side of the Goons. There is nothing more satisfying in this world than killing a Goonie.

I was intending on rolling Elyos Cleric maybe. I have not been paying any attn to the server at this point though.

Oh, those were the days "Drop everything, time to kill some Goons!"

I agree, lets keep the guild in the family. I don't think that really excludes raging weirdos though.

I hope most folks are leaning towards Azmodians, I have a hard time with the Elyos art style.

I was leaning Elyos, since the first 10 levels are much faster to get through. Way less running, I hear.

That's what my co-worker said. He got Elyos 1-10 down to 1.5 hours or so after all the closed beta experience, but Asmod took double that - a lot more running.

I'm leaning Elyos based on his recommendation because of the emo factor of the bad guys, and all the kids it will inevitably attract. At least WoW had some real uglies to deter the kids from the Horde back in the day :p

I'll be real curious how long people last in this game. Obviously it has 2 routes to go, but it seems to be stacked on the short one than the long one.

After Age of Conan crushed my MMO spirit, I've decided I won't be playing any MMO's (other than The Old Republic) unless it's still being talked about actively here 2 months after launch.

For me it all depends on how fun the PvP is. If it's better than WoW's was (keep in mind.. I hated Arena, but love world/fortress PvP) then I will be a happy camper. With both AoC and WAR, I really enjoyed the PvP, but the bug factor among other things killed them for me. That's why I'm excited to play a PvP game that is as polished as this, and as responsive as WoW. The PvE questing in my mind is simply a hurdle to get to the fun stuff, so I hope I'm pleasantly surprised - from watching the video podcasts it sounds like they've created quite a lore to dive into.

So just like all of them, it's a gamble, but if it fails miserably my feelings won't be too hurt as I jump on the next shiny to come my way.

My only real big issue with the game right now is what class to choose, I can't decide between healer or nuker. I looooove me some PvP healing (yes, I miss my little green Shaman in WAR) but I also would like to nuke the living sh!t out of some crowds!

someone pick a server!

No YOU!

Triniel! (East coast server) Selected entirely at random with no knowledge of where anyone else is going.

Im planning on playing Asmodian by the way... because they're way cool yo.

Whatever Elyos GWJ grp decides on a server i'll roll an alt over there.

If folks wanted to beat on Goonies, them Asmodean on Azaphel would seem to be the way to go ... course, who's to say with Goonies past record that its not misdirection and they're Asmodean ... ah, such is the way of the mmolian tao.

My main will be Asmodean on Marchutan (aka Ramen server). The legion I'm in is made up of the guild that absorbed the GWJ/CP Warhammer guild when it dwindled, although I think I'm the only GWJer left.

If the GWJ guild is Elyos (and not on Marchutan), I'll probably roll an alt in it down the road.

While I agree getting through the noob levels quickly is a great thing, I have a hard time deciding on a race based on the first 1.5hrs vs maybe 4-5hrs.

I've played both Asm/Elyos up to 13 or 14 and enjoyed them both. I just wouldn't count out Asm cause you gotta run a bit further.

I don't care which race we go, as long as we're on a moderate to high population server.

If interested I posted on the Catch-All thread about a guild I am running with. I am not trying to upset any GWJ planning - just an open offer!

/salute

Just to add fuel to the fire - I am going to to go Elyos with a buddy who is going to the Seil server along with a guild he belonged to in Lineage 2. Most of the membership would be reflective of the GWJ crowd. They do have an end goal of being relevant in PvP, but that isnt there end all be all. There seems to be a healthy mix of crafters, questers, and get me some PvP blooders. I can hunt down the actual name if anyone is interested.

This is one thing I like about EVE, Guild Wars and rumored to continue in Guild Wars 2, I am sure there are others...... the whole what server should we be on is not a concern.

So we need to make a decision. Head start name reservation is tomorrow with the full head start on Sunday. I call not it for making the decision as I have absolutely no preference as to where we go.

Can I suggest Elyos on Israphel?

Official GWJ Servers

Seil Server - Elyos

Marchutan - Asmo

This way if folks want to join a larger guild later, they'll at least know someone in them

As good choices as any I say, its just good to see a decision

I don't plan on playing past the first month, but I'll definitely jump into the Elyos server to check things out with folks.
