Sons of Anarchy Catch-All (*Spoilers*)

So good tonight. Can't wait for the entire season.

Agreed. Excellent premiere. The scene with Clay and Jax in the conference room was great. That and I love me some Henry Rollins.

I think that final scene is going to have some really ugly repercussions for those responsible.

I picked that up too. Interesting object lesson around Gemma's warnings to Tara about getting in too deep.

I'm more interested in Opie and Jax's imminent falling out now that Jax bought into the whole cover up. Guaranteed that's coming.

Fantastic start to this season. I am pumped for this show. Great writing, great acting, and one of the few shows that really brings out my emotions.

I figured Rollins was going to be a new cop or ATF agent from the previews, and he was able to successfully creep me out last night. Calling Peg "ma'am" during that scene was probably a mistake.

She also sees his chest tattoo. Given that she runs into him on the street in one of the promo clips, I think we can assume she knows who was responsible. Probably good for a bloody season finale.

I am sad to see the female ATF agent leaving the show. I like that character. I hope they can find a good reason for her to return.

I am predicting that Opie will die late in this season.

Nah, then what happens to the kids? Grandpa Piney? That'd be boring. Plus, there's the tension of whether or not Opie will find out the Club killed his wife, and Jax helped cover it up. If he dies, that whole build up is kind of pointless.

Newsweek had a nice discussion about the show - I'm not sure, but I get the impression that the guy they interviewed is Katey Segal's husband. Apparently there is a time jump after 2 or 3 episodes to give some room for Gemma to breath.

Yeah, the creator is her husband, and I guess he also did The Shield. Nice to hear they won't rush that aspect of the story, where by next week it's over and no one ever speaks of it again.

That is one of the things I love about FX - they aren't afraid to let their shows take the time they need to tell their story. The Shield held onto some plot points for multiple seasons.

He's the writer credited with most of The Shield's f*cked-up-edness, and played the Albanian hit man who cut off victims feet because he had a foot fetish.

Yea, be was also the guy who always wrote reasonable escapes into the Shield, so they wouldn't back themselves into a ugly corner, like the last two seasons did.

Over the past two weeks, I've caught up completely on this show and I'm glad I did. My only regret is that it's only in it's second season so there's not a whole lot of story (when compared to other more well-established series).

Agree'd.

Spoiler:

I see Opie finding out about Jax's involvement with the coverup of his wife's death as too big a plot point to skip over. Especially if it's a 3-way confrontation with Jax, Opie, and Clay.

Damn, sh*t is peaking!

Did anyone watch the preview? After a slow build-up post premier, next week looks like mayhem.

Every week this show gets better and better. I am really looking forward to next week. I just worry that this all won't get resolved this season.

It is starting to get pretty spicy! I'm catching up on season one at the moment as well. I'm caught on a cliff hanger in both seasons. Fantastic show.

Opie will have to sort some stuff out though, while Jax agreed to not tell Opie, Clay called the hit and Tugg carried it out. Opes may be taking out all of them.

Spoiler:

It would seem to me that Opie is getting in bed with the ones that tried to kill him-- once Jax lays that on him (probably just as Clay/Tugg/Opes come after him), sh*t is going to hit the fan in a really awesome way. I'm betting Opie and Jax are going to have an epic battle, and once Jax lays the secret on Opes he's going to break down and start trying to kill everyone in sight. I kind of doubt he's going to switch sides so easily, though-- he's loyal because he's trusting, and once he finds out that both sides burned him in some way, he's either going to go after both or ditch the whole outfit entirely. Maybe come back as a lone wolf, or even start his own rival gang? I'm excited either way.

That may not need spoiler tags, but just in case...

I think you've nailed it WipEout.

I've seen it conjectured elsewhere that in the show's Hamlet dynamic, Opie is Laertes. I'm inclined to agree, and don't think it bodes well for his chances.

If Opie is Laertes, at the rate they're moving through the plot of Hamlet, it's going to be several more seasons before he and Jax throw down.

The creator guy said in an onion AV interview (I think) that if they get a season 3 we'll find out more about John (Jax's dad).

Season 1 spoiler/speculation:

Spoiler:

In season 1 the utility company dug up three bodies. One of the bodies was the mechanic Lowell's father. Clay had smoked him. The other two were supposedly Mayans. Closer to the end of the episode Gemma and Clay are talking about how it was a good thing that Jax didn't find out something regarding those bodies. It seemed to allude to the idea that Gemma and Clay may have had something to do with John's death, and that somehow those bodies could lead Jax to that truth.

Did anyone else get that vibe?

Definitely.

God, now I'm thinking about buying Season 1. I only saw a few episodes in re-run this summer, as they built up to the debut of S2.

Edit: And I got that vibe just from watching this season.

Same here.

Likewise, however...

Spoiler:

Based on the tone of the passage Gemma read from the legendary manuscript, I suspect John wasn't as nice a guy as we've been led to believe. I think we're going to find out that Clay and Gemma had reasons for being involved in his death beyond being power-hungry schemers, and they may not have been the "bad guys" in the whole affair.

Spoiler:

I've gotten that vibe a few times during the Clay/Gemma talks. The thing that I got off the Gemma reading from the manuscript was that of regret, like she hasn't always been acting on the best of intentions. Was it ever stated how Jax's dad dies?

Spoiler:

He was hit by a truck if I recall correctly. They mention it near the beginning of season 1
