NCAA College Football 2009 *Catch All*

Pages

The long winter from real sports is almost over. College football arrives this Thursday. Who will win the BCS? Will one of the three QBs win the Heisman?

The season gets off to a fast start with some intriguing match ups:

S. Carolina v NC State and Bosie St vs Orgeon on Thursday.

Georgia v Oklahoma St and Alabama v Virgina Tech on Saturday.

Finally ending next Monday with Miami vs FSU.

Good stuff!

It's Fresno State's year. I can feel it.

Watching a Steve Spurrier coached team win a game 7-3 is SO exciting. :-/

At least it was good to see Erin Andrews back on her game after all the sh*t she went through.

There's 12:13 left in the 3rd quarter in the Boise State / Oregon game.

Oregon has 14 yards of total offense. For the entire game so far.

Oregon just had another possession.

They're up to 18 yards of total offense.

Holy crap! Oregon finally got a first down! With only 7:07 remaining in the 3rd.

Oregon running back LaGarrette Blount punched an unhelmeted Boise State player after the end of the game, shoved at the Oregon teammates who tried to restrain him, and then had to be restrained by police.

Then, as the team went off the field, Boise State fans yelled at him, and he tried to go after the guys in the stands, necessitating his restraint all over again.

Nice thug recruiting, Oregon!

Expect to see the video on ESPN.

This guy was already subject to an "indefinite" suspension by the team during the offseason for "failure to fulfill team obligations."

I won't be shocked if the guy gets kicked out of the program entirely now. There's no way they can keep him.

Damn, I didn't know Kimbo Slice played for Oregon now.

Their gonna lose their starting tailback over this, but after that horrible show of offense maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

See the .gif of the punch here

If tonight had been my introduction to Football, I might've been turned off it forever. Two brutal games to watch.

For extra hilarity, check out how the scholars at ESPN.com are treating the fracas.

Whatever happens to Blount is fine, but it was fun seeing the Boise St. asshole go down. Kinda sucks for him that sometimes when you taunt, you get knocked on your butt.

Fox Sports actually shows the whole incident, in which the guy did just that. Bouncing a round like a douche, and then poking at the player and piling on someitmes gets a reaction you don't want.

I don't know much about Blount, but watching those highlights made me a pretty big Anti-Boise St. fan. Going for two with a trick play on their first score in the second quarter?

My gut feeling watching those highlights, "What a bunch of douche bags." So it felt pretty good seeing that guy get his knees buckled, as he basically begged to get punched. I'm not going to feel any sympathy for Blount, just amused that the Boise St. player was dumb enough to taunt the wrong guy.

Blount had been giving them bulletin board material all week. Saying he was gonna give them an "ass whipping". I can imagine the Boise St. player saying "So how about that ass whipping?" right before he got punched.

Watching a Tom O'Brien team score just 3 points is even more exciting.

N.C. State will get better. They probably can't suck more.

SC Fan, you're in for a loooong season.

On the plus side, I don't think your QB has been arrested recently. That's something.

But it's college football, so he'll stay.

If that's my team, Blount would miss at least the first quarter of the next game. Maybe two quarters.

Going, going, gone!

If it was just the punch, he might not have lost the rest of his collegiate career.

It was going completely nuts and having to be restrained twice more, by police, well after the fact.

Being a Fresno State fan, Boise State is my bitter rival. But you need to understand Boise State.

Trick plays are standard plays in the Boise State playbook. And aggression, challenging convention, and all that, is Boise's M.O.. And after the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, all of college football knows how Boise rolls.

I hate Boise and their let's-always-beat-Fresno ways, but I greatly respect their willingness to buck convention and use their heads instead of blindly following standard football convention.

Trick plays is all they know man.
They are the anti-playbook.
Lord do I know.

Boise State fans have been know to freely hurl racial epithets. I grew up there. So it wouldn't shock me if the BSU player said something far worse than any of Blount's bulletin board material. Keep in mind also that Oregon was a little heated after sone cheap shots last year that injured teammates. Blount deserves to be gone for the season, but Boise State isn't innocent in all this.

Just got a chance to watch the Alabama/Virginia Tech game. Wow, VT's offense was horrible, the only reason they even stayed in that game as long as they did was because of special teams and defense.

I thought the early trick play was by far the coolest thing that happened over the weekend, I was totally with them on that. But that may be because if there's a triple-reverse to be found in a NCAA football game, i'm calling it 15-20 times.

So OK Bradford injured in 2nd qtr, they lose. Plus he is out 2-4 weeks. That's one Big 12 team out of the running now just can't wait till Texas loses

USF played Wofford(?). Had a guy at work whose nephew was one of Wofford's RBs, he was talking smack all week. USF 40-7.

FSU plays Miami Monday, of course game does not have shine it used. Who am I going to root for when USF plays FSU in a few weeks?

Has anyone seen Boogle since the OU/BYU game?

I watched Ricky Bobby with some Modelo silly beers. I just woke up, covered in beer bottle glass in a parking lot outside my friends apartment.

Yep, and you may have noticed that the BSU coach was grabbing the player in response to whatever he uttered before Blount punched him.

Yeah, admittedly he was instigated into what he did, but that doesn't excuse it. Still, in addition to the punishment handed down to Blount, Boise State should do something about their player, as well.

I think it is pretty clear that Blount is a Lawrence Phillips caliber individual. But it was kind of like those beef jerky commercials where the guys tease Sasquatch.

Ah..the good old days of young drinking.

Sigh, opening against Okie State on the road would have been tough enough, add in H1N1 working its way through the team and three turnovers and the Dawgs lose their season opener for the first time in years. To add injury to insult, the Dawgs have lost their starting left tackle to a knee injury for the second year in a row.
