Batman: Arkham Asylum Catch-All

Bought it played it loved. Got a very castlevania vibe from it. Riddler stole the show for me, was much more focused on beating him than Joker. When he accused me of cheating by using the internet, I definitely cracked a smile.

That said, I should have rented it. My binge style game playing means I likely won't return to it. I'll prolly sell it. I do have a scarecrow challenge room code if someone pms me. It came randomly in the case.

I'll buy it, if you're selling it in the $40 range...

sucks having to wait for the PC version, I hope the mods are worth it.

I had a heck of a time finding the game. 2 of the Futureshops I visited had run out of stock, but I got lucky on the third one. I don't regret having to hunt it down one bit, as this game is easily worth the 40$ price tag I got it at.

Aaron gobbled up my code.

I think getting all the riddles unlocks armored Batman in Challenge mode.

*burp*

Thanks, man!

I'm pretty sure this is the best game I've played that's been released this year. I almost beat it once (my save file was corrupted) and I started a 2nd play through and am probably maybe 10% of the way through. I really enjoyed Infamous and Red Faction but both would be a notch below this. I'm not even a huge batman fan. i like the movies, but I've never read a comic or seen the animated series. I think the only game released in 2009 that can compare in quality and polish is Street Fighter 4.

Loving the heck out of it, and my wife is playing through it on her own for good measure.

Had to give up sleep on my attempts to beat Bane. I'm not sure why i can't finish him off, but he is frickin' hard. Maybe tomorrow a freash start wil let me finish off that boss battle off.

The Scarecrow stuff was so well done, and just contributed to a really well paced game and story. You have to love it when a game just feels aced.

The code for 'dem Bones is in the game case itself, on the back of a sticker.

Sorry guys

Bought the game but haven't touched it yet... I've told myself that I need to finish up inFamous before leaping into this one, since I know that if I even so much as try it, I'll be hooked. I'm almost done inFamous (which I really like), so it shouldn't be too much longer.

Your self control is laudable. I'm currently in the midst of Batman, Trine, Infamous, Wolfenstein, Shadow Complex, Shatter, Fat Princess, Empire: Total War, and a handful of regular rotation MP games.

I've actually begun to wonder if I have a legitimate video game addiction.

Doesn't the fact that you post on a gaming message board kind of seal the deal anyway?

Hitting three different thugs with one remote control batarang = badass.

This game is fantastic. I continue to be impressed as it goes on. Currently about 25% through it.

The attention to detail is just amazing. I just noticed that the inmates that are knocked out are breathing.

Wow. Last night, I chose Arkham Asylum over sleep. The baby went to down for the night at 8PM, I popped the disc into the PS3, my wife brought in cocktails and joined me on the couch, next thing we knew, it was midnight. We were literally engrossed in that game for 4 hours. She decided that was enough and went to bed, I continued to stay up gaming. It was literally 2AM when the baby screamed out with a wet diaper. I changed the diaper, rocked him back to sleep and then stopped in the hallway. Do I turn left and go back to the living room for more game time? Or do I turn right, head to bed for the night and try to get some sleep?

I turned left, and got an additional hour in doing nothing but searching for Riddler Trophies and clues. I am currently in my office, sleep-deprived, and trying to figure out if there's anyway for me to get out of work today and head home for more game time.

They really did a nice job with the riddles, though some of them probably require a decent understanding of recent Batman comics i.e. the ones about Hush and Great White Shark. I also thought the one with...

I got the vey firsst Riddle, as it was a basic, this is how it works example. But I'm not sure what I am supposed to do to figure ut the others. Am I supposed to always find an item and scan it? How does it work?

I'm currently trying to finish off Bane. How many have I skipped?

Yup, Its always an item, and occasionally lining up periods to question marks (that can only be seen in detective mode).

I'm the UK, so no Gamestop. Since I can't figure out which retailers have the code here, I can't try and blag them!

There are like 240 total in the game, those include actual riddles you where you have to scan the answer, the riddler trophies, killing the joker teeth, and the interview recordings. There is a riddler menu so you can see how many more you need in each area and you can read the actual riddles. There are also riddler maps you can find. Once you find a map for an area, it adds markers on the main map of the location of all the things. It isn't specific to a riddle, it's just shows the area where there is something to find and you need to figure out if it's a trophy or something to scan or whatever. Also all the stuff can't be acquired the first time you access an area. Some require you to come back after you get more gadgets. My understanding is that even after you finish the game you can go back and collect things. [/color]

That is good to know. I just noticed that after getting the first "Sharply Cut Portrait" that I have not really been working any of the riddles. I kind of looked for the "Tune" one, but gave up on it. I just wasn't sure if I was dong something wrong, or more correctly, failing to do something.

I had the "ah-ha" moment last night after I was half asleep. I think they could've done better training the player on how to attack the riddles (scanning items), but I guess maybe they intended that to part of it?

Don't worry too much about the riddles. You can access all areas again after you beat the main game.

Bonus points to whoever...

I got to give credit to Rocksteady for doing one of the better mindf*cks in gaming outside of the MGS series...

Bah, I really wanted to find this while it was on sale, but everywhere in town has been sold out for the last couple days. Now the sale is over and I'm not sure I want to pay full price for a game I was only planning on spending $38 on.

What I'm really impressed with so far is how influenced this game seems to be. Just from the past two pages, I'm seeing comparisons to Bio-Shock, Max Payne, MGS, Zelda... and after a couple hours of play, I can see how it warrants all the comparisons. These aren't bad pedigrees to be held up to either...

It also is definitely Batman. Though Batman is pretty muscley and the Unreal engine visual style shines through with it's Epic gritiness, the tone of the animated series shines through. Pitch perfect tone so far.

I will say that I wish they would have stuck with the narrative style that they had in the beginning prison sequence. The cut scenes so far have seemed mega lame compared to that awesomeness.

Then we could compare it to MGS4, too!

I am just loving the story and the pacing. Nothing seems repetitive at all. I'm learning new skills as I go, new gadgets are introduced periodically, and there seems to be just the right balance of exploration and action. I had to force myself to bed last night, and way too late at that.

I'm really anxious to get the hacking skill. By that time, we can compare the game to Deus Ex, as well.

Ugh. Amazon canceled my order. No explanation as to why, just a "You order could not be processed." It would have been nice if they told me that when I placed it, not several days AFTER the release date. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to look for it in stores now.

I'm pretty curious to see what kinds of sales numbers they have generated. They marketed this pretty heavily, and priced it aggressively to match. It's pretty rare to see launch titles just start to sell out to the point where amazon cancels an order.

Well I'm sure it sould be selling gangbusters based on GameRankings averages so far:

It's currently sitting at 126.54% over there!
