WoW: Cataclysm - SPOILERS WITHIN

Haha. Picture of tauren pally - narrator says "Holy Cow".

Arg...a pox on my internet connection...stupid buffering. I think I might just wait for the euro repeat tommorrow, this is just making me angry -_-

VERY excited about what I have seen so far though.

Guild talent tree, access to cheaper repairs, mass ressurection after a wipe, etc.

Do want.

Archaeology - make discoveries, research off nodes.

Paths of the Titans - no extension of talent trees. Adds points to existing trees. Each player chooses a path, not limited by class. Bunch of new abilities.

Mastery System - intended prune complexity out of talent trees. To replace having damage enhancement in talent tree?

This is of course assuming Shanker decides you deserve to live again.

Zones to cover smaller (5) level ranges. (Edit: this is a reference to reworking the existing zones, not just the new ones)

Sunken City and Mount Hyjal are the L78-80 starting zones.

Underwater combat will be like the current ground game - swim up and around when you travel. Underwater mounts.

A general answer...

YOU DON'T.

1:21PM Uldum now. Something they've looked forward to for a long time. Will include at least two dungeons.

1:22PM Egypt was inspiration for Uldum. River running down the center, dotted with temples. Shoreline change explained by Titan machine projecting an illusion of shoreline to keep people out. Cataclysm broke the machine. For serious.

That is the best goddamn ret-con ever.

So, looks like each "elemental plane" is linked to a gateway. The Earth plane (Deepholm) is linked to Deathwing Scar to be in Eastern Kingdoms. The water plane will be linked to the Sunken City.

New Uldum zone, Egypt like. Super secret titan weapon all the factions want. Home of Tol'vir, titan creation.

Mount Hyjal - under siege by Ragnaros. Trying to burn the world tree. Malfurion is back.

Twilight Highlands - east of Wetlands. Grim Batol sheared in half.

Tol Barad PvP zone. Melding WG battles with Isle of Kel'denas dailies. Fighting over access to dailies.

New Gilneas BG. (City map BG)

Rated BGs. Get ratings similar to Arena, access to similar (same?) gear.

Edit: that's it...

I'm officially stoked.

Goblin vs. Gnome will become a reality. Let that sink in for a little bit.

Yeah, although some may dismiss this as "catering to a fanboy wishlist" to me this sounds like the kind of revamp/reimagining that other companies would call "WoW 2." I couldn't be happier with the approach they are taking with this expansion -- except the part where they are going to continue to compel me to pay them a monthly subscription for who knows how much longer.

Also, if you pay attention to the trailer, you see an image of the icecrown raid:

I really really wanted to roll a paladin on Horde side (to go with my shiny new shaman) and this gave me the excuse to do it.

C'mon, Blizzard. End FanboyFest09 already and get to work!

I'm getting a 403 error on the new image.

Treading into forbidden new water. (I'm sorry.)

2) The Worgen could very well have Druids as a class; they already shape-shift. Lore purists would do well to consider the existance of Draenei Shaman and (formerly) evil Belf Paladins.

If Worgen Druids are true, there better damn well be a way for me to change Baylie's race. I'd reroll a new character in a second if I had to, but she's been my main for the better part of 3 years...

Oh please let me change races, oh please, oh please, oh please....

I'm thinking the same thing about my hunter. Not that the space goat racial isn't helpful when playing the hit rating gear puzzle game, but I'd give it up in a second to switch from comedic relief to badass. Oh, and the 1% damage racial is nothing to sneeze at either.

Well I'm officially in love with Cataclysm. It's going to be a long wait ...

Well, that settles it. It's either a transfer of GWJ Alliance to GWJ Horde, or Narayan's going Tauren alone.

One thing I find very interesting from the FAQ:

When the Cataclysm occurs, it will occur for all players, whether they have purchased the expansion or not--you will no longer be to play in the original version of Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms. However, certain features such as the new zones, new races, and new level cap will only be accessible to players who purchase the expansion.

I think I might get nosalgiac for the old zones eventually. And now do I have to scrounge around and find out if there are any rare drops (eg pets), achievements, reputations, etc. I need to grind out before they're gone forever?

For a casual, mostly solo, rarely PVP and never raiding player like myself, I wonder how much content this is going to have for me (compared to past expansions)... I don't know how eager I am to level a new character from 1-85.

edit: ... especially if I have to join the mass throngs of new worgen (and to a lesser extent goblins) just to do one of the few new zones...

Right, I don't want to start from scratch though, I want to convert Baylie to a Worgen so I keep all my achievements, pets, etc

I was thinking exactly that! At least they came up with something that wasn't entirely stupid. I mean, it is, but at least they made an effort.

Wow, from the live blog of the class mechanic panel, it's seeming more and more like this. There are going to be some serious changes to combat stats and mechanics to accompany the re-envisioning of the old world, from the sound of it.

Its funny how many people are fussing over this. They cant win for loosing. They get Female Doggoed at because they dont do anything with old Azeroth and when they do decide to do something people still fuss.

Definitely interesting thats for sure. Any hint at release or their upcoming new MMO yet?

From the looks of it, this IS their new MMO.
