My daughter wants to model for Playboy *nsfw*

I think I am hyperventilating over here.

Seriously. I keep going back and reading that whole exchange over again and I'm still laughing. It hurts a bit.

Holy crap. I go away for a weekend and we get another epic thread.

I have nothing useful to add that hasn't been said already, but congratulations BadKen, you have a very beautiful daughter there, and I would be nowhere near as cool about this whole thing as you are being. I think I would have a problem with the whole "Daddy used to wank to this magazine before he got a decent internet connection." Though if she could get you into the mansion as a guest or something that might be worth it.

NSFW, but relevant to anyone that considers Hugh Hefner as some sort of class act.

I think this is a step too far. - Certis

Yeah, I'm sure glad to have that Joe Rogan video in this thread about my daughter.

Puke and poop jokes, that's entertainment right there.

hmm I wonder how long before this thread gets locked?

Yeah, Rogan seems jealous and envious more than anything else. My guess is that he was snubbed at some A-list Playboy party and is now upset about it. At least that's what it sounds like.

Certis has blessed this thread. That's like manna from heaven around here.

So where's Legion in this pic?

Regarding Badken's daughter, hell, with the new direction Playboy is taking with some of their pictorials, it almost seems likely that the photos will be safe for work (well, almost).

best thread ever. Honestly of the things that your child could do this ranks up there as one of the better 'problems' to have.

friend of a friends sister went this route and it sounds like a similar situation. Smart girl (passed her bar exam) and she posed for playboy... result? oppurtunities to fly out to exotic locations and be a guest bartender while raking in very easy money. Not sure how it effected her law career or even if that was what she wanted to do anyways.

People here mentioned about the potential doors that close but there are many that also open. If you trust her and shes as keen as you say she is then she gets to do something she likes/loves on her terms while getting paid very nicely. Its hard to find that niche. I wish I knew wtf I wanted to do so I wouldn't be still wandering around aimlessly

BadKen, perhaps it's best that you don't show her this thread.

Why is that? She wants to pose for playboy. People will talk/think about her in much more debasing terms, not to mention what they'll be "doing" while talking/thinking. I would think this thread is rather tame compared to what's to come.

Yes, but these are her dad's friends talking like this.

So it's okay for strangers, but not friends? Any connection we have with her is tenuous at best. If she can't handle this thread, how will she handle the people she personally interacts with, like her co-workers, her neighbors, that 16 year kid 20 years from now saying how use to be hot she use to be. In other words if you're gonna hold yourself up as a sex symbol, you have to be willing to live with the effects of that choice for the rest of your life; easy money, and flying off to exotic locations are just two of the effects albeit the nicer ones, but they also happen to be the shortest lasting.

Is... is that why Elysium's hand is reaching 'offscreen' and he's smiling so much?

Maybe BadKen's daughter should talk to some people who did pose for Playboy and find out what they think of it. Nothing like some experience to help you make a tough decision (assuming there's a decision left to be made).

The only thing I can caution is my anecdotal story of a cousin who loved her 15 minutes of fame to much, and would do anything for that 16th minute. She started out on a reality TV show, then got an offer to have her wedding professionally produced in Vegas, then got an offer to show in Playboy, and then finally after that has become a full fledged porn star.

I'm not saying that this happens to Every girl that decides to pose, but it did happen to one that I'm related to, who is currently being ostracized by the rest of my family.

Seriously they are all "Shun the non believer" over her actions.

To put this in context, we're going to need some pics. And some links. And after that maybe a cigarette and a nap.

I'll require proof of age and a credit card number.

Predicted that for you.

This is truly epic thread...

I can't even remember what the thread started at...

*goes back to the top*

ohhh wait......

Yeah, ken I would have to side with caution group. On the plus side you can tell her she ruined her Dad's favorite pass time! I mean how mean is that, there you are using bing to get free previews and then BAM! your daughter pops up!

In this day and age of the internet, nothing goes away. This might come back to haunt her. DuckyDevi hit the nail squarely on the head with her reply. I would be cool with her choosing to do it but be against her doing it again.

Anything I post here will probably get me in trouble. So I'll just say good luck, BadKen, I hope things turn out well!

Holy cow. Have you people never read Playboy? She's not doing a spread (pun fully intended) for Cheri, or Club International. Playboy is pictures of pretty ladies doing normal things and, oh yeah, they're naked. I'm pretty sure that a Playboy photo session is not the beginning of a plunge into the depths of depravity. It's not rotgut porn, it's a classier Maxim.

Yeesh.

Chumpy_McChump wrote:

Hmm. Because a pool table is a perfectly normal thing for someone to lie on naked.

This reminds me of the "Pethouse Plaything" sketch in the movie Amazon Women on the Moon.

I go away for a bit and everyone's excited about someones daughter getting into soft core pornography and Certis and Legion are dating? If you're happy and proud of your daughter, good, that's all that matters, but the world of porn is a very twisted rabbit hole, and while it may start off classy and well meaning, a few missteps can have some bad consequences. O and she'll be breaking up with that boyfriend, just imagine if she gets invited to live in the Mansion or...be Heff's next girlfriend...

The Internet has taught me that everything is a "slippery slope".

After Playboy, the "plunge into the depths of depravity" is inevitable for Ms. D. Oogaba!

People are free to read what they want, and pose for what they want. But people are also free to judge others by their actions. Any attempts to spin posing for Playboy as innocent overlooks the fact that there are consequences to that decision. One is apparently having your father post a bikini shot of you for his internet buddies to look at, cameltoe and all.

The other involves him posting in a way that makes it pretty easy to grab onto her full name. Seriously, you couldn't even rename the pic?

As of now, her resume reads, dropped out of college to work at a hotel, then posed for Playboy. If she was fastracking to an MBA, those are some serious red flags for any future employer. And I'm getting this from her father's spin.

Sorry for the Rogan bit, but it kinds of irks me when people start talking like Playboy is some classy magazine. Despite how classy some view the magazine, the women are still generally regarded as bimbos, with some exceptions. I don't think "taking a break" from college is a way to be included with those exceptions.

True; I should have said that Playboy isn't necessarily the beginning of the end. It certainly could be. No, wait, that's entirely inappropriate.

Do you ever spit on people from up there on your impressively high horse? I mean, your aim should be good, what with you looking down like that...

Yeah, I seem to think there's some sort of odd rationalization when it comes to Playboy where everyone likes to pretend the core focus of the magazine is a lifestyle enrichment tool, instead of what it really is - a crumpled up montage of wank material pinned up in warehouses, truck stop washrooms, and stuffed underneath teenager's mattresses where the literary sections have long been glued together over the years.

I've had some time to think about it, and I can see the excitement of having a kid achieve something so tremendous, but at the same time I would be horrified if I had a daughter do the same, especially if she was intelligent enough to bypass "life easy mode" (take off clothes, thrust chest, stick out bum) for something that would utilize her great array of other skills. It really is different strokes for different folks (queue theme song), so I can only vouch from my point of view.

But hey, our society is pr0n crazy, so why not cash in on the suckers? That's the flip side. Maybe raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars for a small piece of dignity is worth it in the end, when you've established an amazing life for yourself and your family in a much quicker time than it would have taken with a climb up the corporate ladder? It doesn't have to be forever. If you pull out early with a nice bankroll and can remain somewhat anonymous...

That's about 9 times harsher than I would ever say, but is pretty much on point. Right or wrong, the consequences of making a decision like this is that folks she will need to impress in the future will see her in a very different light than they would otherwise. Some will be okay with it. Others will think it's great. And yet others will will, for whatever reason, see this as a reason to discount her ability or judgement.

Especially in the extremely male dominated field of business, voluntarily putting one's self in the category of women everyone has seen naked is an invitation to being discounted.
