AION: Catch All

Yep - when you consider some stigma and armor are going for 1 million plus by the mid-twenties its not an unheard of goal.

The decision to release the names of the servers is completely up to the Production Team in conjunction with PR and Marketing. Customer Service will not release the server names before requested by Production. The names that have already been release are below.

>1 Siel
>2 Israphel
>3 Nezekan
>4 Zikel
>5 Vaizel
>6 Triniel

>11 Ariel
>12 Azphel
>13 Fregion
>14 Mesramtaeda
>15 Ereshkigal
>16 Beritra

More server names will not be released until the Production team feels it is necessary. The above mentioned server names could be changed at any time.

Looks like we can start kicking around ideas on which server everyone wants to play on.

Play on the same server with Goon Squad so that I can occasionally group with you guys.

Last closed beta weekend is here...

The legion I'm in, Nex Tactus, hasn't picked a server yet. These are a bunch of guys from my WAR guild, which itself took in the GWJ/CP WAR Destro guild. I think I'm the only GWJer left though.

Legions and the limited cap on their membership is one thing I can see being both a curse and a boon for this game; maybe it will engender more folks progressing to end game than alt-aholism, although it hasn't stopped my wife going alt mad in China, even with having to re-use 4 slots. Still trying to work out what to do, on which server, and even which side (from my eastern experiences, if it was just me I'd be an Elyos sorc on the first server in the list; but wife .. mother-in-law .. father-in-law .. brother-in-law ... are all committed asmodian alt-aholics) ... we'll see.

Anyone in the beta able to login? Granted it's only been 20 minutes since it went live but I type my name and PW, click login, and it just sits there. Should I wait it out?

Pre-ordered on a whim after hearing a very well respected MMO player from work who's been in many hardcore raiding guilds (UO/DAOC/WOW) break it down to me as to how much fun he was having. The character creation, graphics and PvP Youtube videos sealed the deal for me. I'm not expecting any miracles, but I hope I'll get my 60 bucks worth out of it and maybe warrant a sub after the 30 days.

Think they were having battles with load on the login servers, but appears to be responding atm.

Yup. Made it on to a server that went down in 5 mins

Made another character on a different server, a priest. Actually enjoying it so far!

26.9MB/450.0MB after about 20 minutes, looks like it will be a while before I get on.

If you're grabbing the client and have FilePlanet access you might get a more rapid result via that route.

Using the official NCSoft front-end client for the patch, the whole game downloaded super-fast from Steam. I don't have a Fileplanet account, anywhere else hosting the latest patch?

Unfortunately not, think its just via the launcher; its one thing that worries me on day 1 of both the release (or head start if you pre-ordered), if you patch rather than install from DVD (because they always arrive in time, right ...), the 1.0 -> 1.5 patch volume based on the current Korean code is in excess of 3 GBs. Sure hope they put it up well ahead of time and trickle feed it.

Yes I too am afraid of this as well so hopefully NC will be smart and give the folks a chance to have the client patched before launch and so far they have had the beta patches up early so i'm at least hopefull. I know my husband and I are still planning on playing Asmo and if anyone else wants to tag along or if we know a good legion to join anyone who wants to meet up on a server lets make some plans. I definately want to get into a legion by level 20 and hopefully sooner.

It's pretty fun so far. Quick and dirty super-first impressions as I only played about 20 minutes before I hit the books again (oh studying, how much you sucketh)

Pros:
- Super quick and responsive thanks to a killer GCD. Only MMO I've played since WoW that's actually been as "snappy" as WoW. They nailed that. Can't wait for PvP.
- Character graphics and animation are super awesome. The amount of detail is pretty impressive.
- Character creation that is incredibly detailed, and can be used for some very unique faces and body types.
- Some neat enemy designs.
- Performance: Butter. Not just Butter, but super smooth and highly animated Butter, run through another Butter filter.

Cons:
- Maybe a little too Final Fantasy for my tastes.
- Starting area music must have been set to "Anime Intense Butt Rock"
- Voices (Yah! Yeh! Yah! Yeh! That will get old grinding mobs)
- Starting area is kinda weak from an art design perspective. Some very, very nasty looking textures which stand out like a sore thumb because the characters are super-detailed.
- Player "Vendor" shops. I can already see a legion of Gold Sellers spamming wares from their ad-hoc stands, free to place them wherever they want at will.

I'm really looking forward to playing at launch. I'll have to wait till I'm at least in the 20s to make a better judgment on the game, but it looks like it will be a lot of fun so far. Again, can't wait for the PvP - some of the videos on Youtube looked great

I hate this type of shop mechanic. The ads are so invasive. Maybe there is a way to shut off displaying shop banners. I can just ingore all the kneeling people.

Rohan Blood Feud had a way where you can shut them off player vendors completely. It was really nice as it made a night and day difference to not have hundreds of sitting players in cities. I really hope Aion copies this.

Unfortunately no way to shut them off at the moment, although a host of people have asked for it, I'd prefer not having them at all, and just leave it to putting things on the broker. Also is open to exploitation for Abyss Point farming as the sales banners are the one form of communication doesn't get mangled between the two factions. A good number of people use them to avoid the auto-logout AFK timer which kicks in pretty rapidly; with a number of your powers based on how long you've been alive without dying (Divine/Daeva Power), and no grace period if you get booted or disconnect briefly, its a commonly used alternative to preserve your power when leaving the keyboard for a meal and the like.

Make your feelings known on the beta boards

Overall I enjoyed the beta weekend. Looks like I'm not going to be canceling my preorder on this one I wish I got a chance to try some other classes but good times were still had.

My wife made it to 10 this weekend and got her wings, it was pretty neat. We're going forward with an additional copy for sure, we liked what we saw. September 22nd is too far away now! Anyone decide on what class they are playing come launch?

I'm gonna stick with a priest class. I enjoyed what I got to play. Got to 13 and I agree the wings are amazing! Definitely cool. Only problem with the release on the 22nd that I see right now:

1) I'm going on vacation sept 21-28th. Yes I'm looking forward to being in the Caribbean but still (hehe)
2) Me and the GF are looking at a Sept 30th closing on a house.

If everything works out I won't be playing at release. However, I guess I can't really complain too much

Is Sept 22 the release date or the early access date ?

Not sure, I'm just going by my Steam unlock. DeThroned congrats on the house, we got our first one a couple months ago. It's very understandable that games will take a back seat through that whole process, but oh what a ride

I'm going spirit master... or chanter, or cleric or gladiator or templar =P

But in all seriousness, I'm leaning spirit master first.

the constant noise your pet makes tunred me off to spirit master a bit. I know... silly right. I tried to ignore it but it got in my ear and under my skin in just that way that I couldnt ignore.

For me its probably going to be semi-hellish situational alt-ism .. *sigh* ... Templar for use with wife, friends and relatives (they still haven't decided which faction dammit!!!!), sorcerer/assassin for causing trouble, cleric/chanter for grinding AP.

Sorcerer here, I'm going to fight all urges to go with an Assassin class right off the bat and see how it sticks. Plus, the PvP vids I saw of the Sorcerer were simply awesome, and they made me a little giddy.

Sorcerer is an absolute blast, especially post 25, with one proviso - at the moment its too easy for high end plate classes to become completely impervious to the sorcerers spell lines, and all your spells will get resisted (there are no partial resists in this game, it either gets through for full damage/effect or completely bounces off); resulting, in china at least, in roving teams of templars and gladiators whose sole meaning in life is the eradication of every sorcerer from the world .. ok, slightly overdone, but you get the idea. Add to that the fact that both sleep and tree forms of crowd control can be dispelled by drinking greater potions at the moment (how can you drink something if you're asleep? Don't go there) and not all is as rosey as it may appear from some of the youtube highlights

Some of those things are adjusted with 1.5, and all that said, the current Korean 1v1 champion is a sorcerer

Should have pointed out one thing, the big post 25 bit with the sorcerer. With the possible exception of the ranger, the sorcerer's are masters of combat in the air; in the Abyss if you meet an airborne enemy sorcerer 1 on 1 ... drink a flight speed potion and fly in the opposite direction as fast as you can. When constrained to the ground, the sorcerers are considerably less insane.
