Battlefield 1943 Catch-all

If you guys are still playing the xbox version shoot me a friend invite please. I love the game but pub games are getting stale.

I'm still playing this as well, and usually on every other night.

I'm not passing judgment on the PC version but if they make it like the 360 version, it won't work as well (the smaller maps, regenning health, etc). Seems like they should just re-release 1942.

Does 1942 not run any more? Of course, put it on Steam for under $20 and I'd probably eat it up.

(filthily skimming) Do we have a clan?

Hey guys, been away for a bit and just got around to downloading 1943... Loving it so far. Anyone want to play shoot my a invite on Xbox Live: CrazyDudeAbides

I've pretty much stopped playing regularly, but if they release a new map pack, I'll jump right back in.

Directions for joining the Xbox 360 BF 1943 group:

1. Send a friend request to the Xbox list account (GWJBF1943),
http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?pp=0&GamerTag=GWJBF1943

2. PM me,
http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/privatemsg/msgto/7781

How to use the list:

While in the game, go to your friends list. Select the GWJBF1943 account and view the profile. Opening the friends list in this profile will show you all the members who are online. Hopefully you can join a game in progress, send a request for an invite into a squad, or invite people into a squad you create.

Sorry for any confusion about this list. I hope these directions are clear and simple.

I just posted a strategy guide I wrote about the Rifleman class on Associated Content.

I'm not a god at the game - I don't really have time to play it a lot - but I'm in the top five most of the time. The tips here should help anyone new to the game weed out the common newbie mistakes, which honestly enough to make you better than most the players out there.

A man after my own heart. One thing though, in your guide you write:

Jeeps also require multiple hits before they go boom.

One shot from the rifle grenade will make a jeep go boom. Maybe it depends on where you hit it—for instance, hitting a jeep head-on with a rifle grenade as it barrels down the road in attempt to run you down will explode, killing everyone in it, and sending its blackened husk hurtling over you as it possibly knocks palm trees across the road behind yourself and creaks to a flaming rest.

So awesome.

Thanks to HALO 3 dumbing down the audience on Xbox Live you really don't have to be good at, well, any shooter anymore. You just got to know the game and the mechanics, do that and you'll dominate most matches while half your team and the entirety of the other team are doing the Halo Hop around the map like good little Master Chiefs trying to figure out why they aren't "pwning".

I've also hit Jeeps from the side with a rifle grenade at point blank range and blown them to bits. I still find the most hilarious moments in Battlefield to be when the plane crash land right in front of you but don't and instead just kind of bounce along the geometry until they don't. Always makes me laugh for some reason.

Hmmm. I've hit jeeps before but it seems like they rarely blow up. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

Try my method, you won't miss it.

I love taking out a jeep full of people the grenade launcher. It works for me with one hit most of the time assuming I don't miss.

Oh hi, I'm new. I think I'm pretty much addicted to this game, although I don't have a lot of time to play. Hopefully I can play with some of you guys sometime. I gots no xbox live friends or a headset but hey, I'm not a 13 year old assh*le so there's that.

One thing I have noticed is if you do shoot a grenade, and it hits near it or under it, it won't explode in most cases but it does look like you hit it.

I caved in and bought the game. I would love to play with some goodjers on the 360. If possible. I'll be adding some people on my friends list.

What seems to always happens to when I fire is that I hit, the jeep doesn't explode, but everyone in it usually dies.

You can send me an invite, I play about once a week. In fact, I would be playing right now but Mythbusters just started I haven't seen it yet. Give me an hour.

Where are you hitting the jeep? I'm hitting it smack on the hood/radiator (I assume—head on, in any case).

Played with Darthcircuit tonight at air superitoy which is way freaking to hard for me. I eventually started to sit on the boat and snipe. I actually hit two planes (i could tell by the red hit indicator). Does anybody know if you can get a head shot with somebody in the plane? I did that all the time with battlefield heroes.

Yeah, flying the planes takes a lot of practice. Try the regular maps...I find them much more fun, more strategic than Air Superiority.

I bought this (and a PS3), so if anyone wants more PS3 friends let me know. I will warn you however that this will be the first FPS I have ever played on a console.

I know this is like admitting I have herpes on my eyeball, but I am currently playing this on PS3. I'm Evo_47 if anyone is up for it, just friend me up.

This game really needs an expansion pack, although, with Bad Company 2 coming out soon, I doubt we will see one.

Herpes on your eyeball?

Nah, it just means you make questionable purchase decisions

FYI: FREE Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta key (PS3 only) through IGN, starts 11/19 get them while they last, spread the word

CyberTrick, thanks for the heads up, it's a good tip, but honestly I just read this exact same message in four different threads. Once will suffice.

Gee thanks, and here I got excited thinking maybe there was news of new maps for 1943.

I tried to play some 1943 recently and it just kept kicking me out. Is it done now?

I've actually played it off and on since release, and the only time that I've consistently had that happen is since Modern Warfare 2 came out.

I should go try it out. I've been on a Battlefield MP kick lately. Mostly to wash the nasty taste of MW2 out of my mouth.

1943 and MW2 are perfect companion multiplayer shooters, IMO. Each one scratches a distinctly separate itch.
