Car lovers?

Whoa that car is mean lookin'

I bet it's worth 250k+

It's been 10 years since I paid off my Jeep. Now we can't find the title. Hell, I can't even be sure my (then) bank even sent it to me. To get a duplicate, I went to the DMV only to be told that their records still show my bank's lien on the vehicle. So I have to get my former bank to tell the DMV that yes, I did spend many thousands of dollars to buy the f*cking car 10 f*cking years ago. After they do that (whenever they do that) I get to sit and wait a mandatory 15 days while the DMV dicks around before sending me my title. (Note that they have no problem sending me my property tax bill for the same car they won't acknowledge I own.) Then I have to hope that Hyundai is still offering their same rebate next month and that the CARS program still has money in it.

So it's been a really sh*tty day and I just want to jump in front of a bus. Except there are no buses around here.

That car is wicked sick. As for price, I'd wager 500k+.

That sucks Quintin.

I had almost the opposite thing happen when I traded in my old car. I dug out the title and didn't even look at it really, I just took it to the dealership with me when I went in to pick up the new car. When I handed the guy the title he got this confused look on his face because there was no lien on it. I had no idea either.

I wonder what I payed that loan for all that time...

So I spent a long weekend in Alabama visiting with family there, and we rode around in my cousin's '04 Sebring convertible. The first ride was in the evening, so the temperature was good...

On the one hand, it's a Sebring.

On the other hand, it was a convertible.

I have my heart set on a Mustang convertible now.

I think if I was after a convertible I'd go for a hardtop of some kind. Some of them are pretty affordable now.

I love all mustangs but I would think twice before going the convertible route.

They already have a poor weight to power ratio and the added weight of the convertible really exacerbates the issue.

I love my convertible. Its even usable most of the year if you can stand the heat(in Austin). Of course, I have no plans to take it to the track. Have considered taking it to one of those driving schools. They let you participate in the basic classes without a rollbar even. There are always upgrades.

Bank says they'll mail me the lien release. Looking at 2 to 5 days to get to me though, since they're sending from out of state.

Lien release was mailed yesterday. Saw this today:

Of all the Trillions set aside, the one program that actually appears to be stimulating consumerism is underfunded. Shocker.

Yeah, it sucks to lose out on a nice chunk of cash because of a lack of foresight. And we put down a deposit on a car before the final rules were released. Stupid stupid.

It has another 2 billion! coming. So don't worry Quintin, but check out what you are trading vs what you are buying the rewrote the rules.

Yeah I've been following it. I don't think the additional $2b is final yet, just a House vote. It's still gotta go to the Senate. The deal we were considering at is well within the original plan's margins, so I wouldn't expect revised rules to exclude us. I just don't know if the additional money will last until we get our paperwork straightened out.

I'm hoping they take their sweet time finalizing the additional $ so that we have our title duplicate by then.

So what does that mean to me, the non-car geek who does not intend to ever do any serious mods to this hypothetical Mustang convertible, or take it to the track, but merely loves the look of a Mustang/Mustang convertible?

Pretty much nothing. My Mom used to have a 99 Mustang GT convertible, and unmoded, with all the issues Wired reports, it was way too much car for my 18 year old butt to be driving(not that I would have admitted that 10 years ago, of course). At the end of the day, they're great performance cars regardless of any issues in my eyes.

Well then, I'd say it means nothing for you.

I hate to follow my own post, but if anyone has not seen the most recent episode of Top Gear, I highly suggest you track it down. It's not one of their best episodes, but the last four minutes are of the new Aston Martin, there's very little talking, and a whole lot of the most beautiful countryside driving footage I've seen in a long long time.

I sat and stared, kind of mesmerized the whole time the segment ran.

Then I watched it again.

I think Top Gear is my favorite show on TV.

Since Thin_J couldn't find it, here's the clip. Or at least a clip from Top Gear with a V12 Aston Martin, which fits the forgoing description.

Favorite quote: "Welllll.. it's an Aston Martin Vantage with a V12 engine. What do you *think* it's going to be like?" Great stuff

edit 2- related videos has a bunch of others as well it seems.

edit 3 - The Article.

I searched for almost that exact title minus the episode number and it wasn't in the first two pages! A google search did turn up the article you linked though.

My favorite bit from that:

You do the work yourself by shifting a big gear lever that feels like it might actually be the Terminator's dick.

Gotta love the brits

Thanks for digging it up though. That's exactly the clip. In fact, I'll put it right here in the thread:

Well my Chevy Aveo, a car I paid $22,000 for in 2004 brand new died on me last month. The timing belt let go and 2 of my valves in the 4 banger bent, which would have been a $3500 repair job.... More than the cost of a used Chevy Aveo. So it was sold to a junk yard for $500 bucks... Bastard even tried to haggle me down from that. Anyhow, my Grandmother recently upgraded to a Lexus so her old car, a lovingly maintained-never-seen-a-winder Lincoln Town car has been passed to me. I shall post pics when it gets here, however my Dad is taking his sweet time driving it across Canada. The car is coming from Victoria and I'm in Ottawa. I did find out the average age of a Lincoln Town Car owner is 67... So I'll definitely be the youngest owner of one of these fantastic old boats in Ottawa.

Eh, they're super comfortable to cruise around in though. Just don't expect any driving excitement.

Actually, that's the concept car that was built for (as in before) the game.

More like $1.83m, actually.

That's wicked expensive, like absolutely crazy.

I told myself I was not going to do it after I sold the cobra. But I am a weak, weak man.

Last night I made the call and ordered

Now how do I tell the wife I bought a new twinscrew?

Oh Wired. Your weakness is my happiness. Please take me for a drive in that when you get that thing installed.

Actually I may end up near G-rapids to see a sales guy I just took over up there and visit a few customers. If I have it done by then I will let you know.

Wow. Kenne Bell.

That's crazy man. Really really cool, but still crazy

Err, I had a question here about stages, but I see they only label them that way on their SC's for the 05 and up cars. Hm.

Which one exactly did you order? Big Bore 2.6L like the picture description?

Craziness man.
