Questions you want answered.

This question may be from left field, but here we go. Does anyone use Old Spice deodorant? I bought some and it actually burns when I put it on. However, the sensation only lasts about 5-10 minutes and the skin isn't red or blotchy or bloated or anything. Do you think I"m allergic to something in the stick or is it supposed to burn for a little while to make men out of boys?

Maybe you are allergic to spice? Or you're just a baby.

It's never burned for me, is it their regular stuff or some special kind?. I'd check the ingredients against a deodorant that doesn't burn.

I had a problem with several types of Speed Stick deodorant, switched to Old Spice and haven't had any problems since. It's not their signature one though, they gave us that for free in 5th grade and it was the worst smelling thing I'd smelled. I got the "HIGH ENDURANCE" sub-brand and that's way less intense.

I think all deodorants have the same active ingredient, so whatever is burning you is likely to be something you don't need anyway.

No, seriously, why the f*ck are the vast majority of people stupid?

I think we're getting confused because people are using the word "deodorant" for both deodorants and antiperspirants. Deodorants have no "active ingrediants," and are simply strong fragrances to mask other odors. Except maybe...

The Wikipedia page says that many deodorants contain alcohol which helps to kill the bacteria which are the cause of the odor, not the sweat itself. Maybe you have a rash or some cuts which are reacting to the salts or alcohol in the deodorant.

Also, you might be allergic to the specific fragrance in that brand.

(A long list of not very exciting sample ingredients and explanations)

-Dipropylene Glycol - A colorless odorless liquid used to dilute fragrances.
-Water
-Propylene Glycol - Similar to dipropylene glycol
-Sodium Stearate - A salt
-Fragrance
-PPG-3 Myristyl Ether - Not too sure, but its a component of the "clear base" of the stick
-Tetrasodium EDTA - Again, not too sure, but some kind of white solid that's used in things including food because it attracts metal ions
-Violet 2 - A dye
-Green 6 - A dye

It took me a while to figure this out on my own. Antiperperants burn me every time, but deodorants work just fine. Another factor is just how much you're applying, I can make due with about 4-5 swipes, but if I do double that, there is a mild burning on occasion.

Do I need to get my medical exam before or after I submit my permanent residency paperwork to Canadian immigration?

The paperwork requires a document to be filled out by the medical office to be sent to the processing center, but the website says to wait for instructions on when to take the exam after the paperwork is submitted. Conflicting information!

I tried to ask via email the processing center, and they keep sending me links that aren't relevant to this question. I don't think they actually read the emails. Three tries asking the same question and I've gotten completely different answers telling me to look at different parts of their website. And they have a phone line, but they don't respond to telephone inquiries. It's basically a recorded message telling you links to their websites.

This is a long, long, long shot, thought I'd throw it at GWJ and see if anyone else has gone through the particular brand of bureaucratic wackiness.

So it's not only in my country? We're doomed then, the contagion is spreading.

I don't know about any of that stuff but... welcome to Canada! (note: welcome is conditional upon a satisfactory medical record).

Because you and I are so magnificently awesome that by comparison, even the best of the rest are asshats.

I'll admit to being a dummy, but I don't know why I'm this way. Maybe the other dummies know.

Seriously? Because you're lucky enough to be smarter than average. If by being stupid you mean "refusing to think even if you can" than I'm 100% with you.

You could feel stupid about typing "Ohara" instead of "O'Hare," instead. Choice is up to you.

It's O'Hare Daley. Because Daley has his hands in everything.

sh*t, you don't think he'll see this, do you?

I'm surprised you didn't already suspect me of being a Daley informant.

Didn't they just spend a ton of money to remove Blago's name from a highway?

I think you are refering to the change of signage that occurs everytime there is a change in governers. It is a massive waste of money.

I use the Old Spice Red Zone anti-perspirant/deodorant. It could be that you have an aluminum allergy... anti-perspirants use aluminum compounds to prevent sweating. The specific one in the Red Zone brand is aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex glycine (anhydrous) 19%. Might want to try a different compound or avoid anti-perspirants.

New law is that they can't put their name on all those construction projects, if I recall correctly. It was one of the first bills after Blago got booted.

I believe you are correct word. I think that is what Panda was thinking of though.

Thank you! I will try not to bring the hiv or the rabies into your gentle country.
