Blood Bowl game Catch-All

Hey Landshrk, is the deadline before Sunday, or basically midnight on Sunday? If so is that GMT or some other timezone?

Just asking as I'm trying to arrange to play Mysteri0 on that Sunday.

The timeline is a bit flexible. My intent was to "end" the week next Monday morning, so you'd basically have all of Sunday night to play.

I'm still getting used to the commissioner options, but it looks like the "week" won't end until I manually end it. If you and your matchup for the week are having scheduling issues, let me know and it may be possible for me to delay the end of the week, although it would have to be in limited cases.

To those of you participating in the BGG Smashmouth Summer 09 league, the season has started!

Please check the in-game matchups and coordinate your first game with your opponent.

If you have scheduling issues, feel free to let me know. All week 1 games should be played by Sunday 7/12.

Do you know who Goose is? I sent him a mail in game but have not gotten a reply yet

I could probably figure it out by process of elimination. Have you gotten ahold of him yet?

I'm moving the league discussion to the "official" thread over at Boardgamegeek:

http://boardgamegeek.com/article/3664959

Please use that thread for league discussion so we can avoid cluttering/derailing this thread even more than we already have :).

The derailment just helps weaken the resolve of us holding out for September.

So just played 1st match in the league and got beat down 2-0. The thing is I'm not even mad because I've accidentally discovered the joy that is goblin tossing. 1st attempt ended with the little guy being spiked into the ground at the troll's feet. 2nd I learned it is possible to throw a goblin off the pitch. Tell you what though, while watching that 2nd goblin go spinning through the air I learned something. I'm going to need more goblins!

Goblins are just flat out hard to win with. I'm sort of surprised they were one of the races included in the base game. I think they would have been better to include with halflings in a later expansion or patch, and put Dark Elves, Chaos Dwarves or one of the Undead teams in the base game.

That being said, they can be a lot of fun...just don't go getting attached to any of the little green guys, and get Block/Pro on your Trolls ASAP! A goblin with the Leader skill can help out a lot, too.

I played my first game today, and was able to squeak out a 2-1 win with Dwarves thanks to some lucky injury rolls. Looks like 8 teams still have to play their first week games...as a reminder, please let me know via PM if you are having scheduling issues or are unable to contact your opponent.

Completely forgot to get in on this action. Next time, I suppose!

If there are any league waiting lists, I'd like to add my name to the list! Thanks!

To the folks playing in the current BGG league, check the official league thread:

http://boardgamegeek.com/article/368...

We've had our first member flake out, and I'd like to get some feedback on where folks want to go with the rest of the season or a new season.

I'm cool with either option. Though I wouldn't be against redoing my team as I've played goblins a bit since making it and regret not buying the pogoer, loon and fanatic from the start. Also might be tempted to play lizards.

I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring if another league starts up. I'll be getting the game shortly, but I'm a total noob at the game (just read the rules for the first time 2 days ago), so I'll probably be taking some lumps for a while.

I'd be up for a new league should one start up.

September is so far way. I want to play on the league so bad.

I caved. At least a little, the recent Gogamer sale got me, i'd be up for a new league as well.

So I finally decided to ask about the CE retro graphics in the forums here. Turns the CE has different splash screens, playbook and some stickers.

Disappointed, was hoping for board game graphics.

I got a friend of mine that just got the game as well, give me a few days and perhaps we can start a small league. I know I'm going to need lots of practice, this game is pretty deep strategy-wise, and I'm getting my ass handed to me.

I might be able to get another friend or two in as well should something start up.

My friend Indredkold would be interested if a new league starts. Will it be a start a new team or bring a team so long as it isn't above a certain point?

I'd imagine it would be start a new team, since I'm still just trying to figure out what the skills even do, hehe

That is cool with me, just got to figure out what team I'd like to play. Don't be afraid to crack open the manual. I read through it as a refresher since BB has changed a bit since I last played.

Enablers. The only thing preventing me from buying this right now is the knowledge that my laptop won't run it.

We'll see if I can make that change by September, in time for it to be released on Steam.

I played a mean Skaven team back in the foreverago days - don't think I still have any of those miniatures, though.

I'm in the September is taking too long to get here camp as well. But I'm holding firm dammit!

Ditto on a hands up for a new league. Ive lost my first few games, happy to jump in. Is anyone playing RTS? I'm turn based only so far. Liking it.

What are the system requirements like?

Compare to Civ 4, because my laptop can handle that.

My friend Indredkold has been talking to me about playing the rts. He played elves vs dwarves and beat them 13 to 0. He seems to like it, had a player go up to lvl 5 in that one game. Think he said lvl 5?

Trust me, I cracked open the manual. But for me, it's one thing to read about what a skill does and another to actually wrap my head around using it to its best advantage. After getting a couple games under my belt, things are starting to make more sense to me, and I'm enjoying it so far. I even played my buddy last night in our first multiplayer game, and I beat his Chaos team 2-0 with my human team, the Picksburg Stillers. It was very satisfying and fun as hell, especially with the trash-talking over Skype.

If I start up a league for you good men, I'd prefer to use the turn-based rules. From all the reviews I've read, the realtime doesn't translate very well, with some of the skills not working properly in that format.

On that front, as far as I can tell, here is the list of people interested in a GWJ league:

Laarrs
Laarrs friend
Brizahd
Dreaded Gazebo
Dreaded Gazebo friend 1
Dreaded Gazebo friend 2?
whispa
jonnypolite
Indredkold
rabbit

If I'm missing someone or someone no longer has any interest, please let me know either by posting here or sending me a private message on the boards. If the interest is still there, maybe we can start it up next week.

I'd be up for joining an official GWJ league, it looks like the BGG league has all but fallen apart.

Hey Lars there is a bbedit.exe in the forums that allows you to edit singleplayer teams. You coulds set up matches using whatever skills you want and see how they work. I've messed around with it and got all my players to lvl 7 legendary just to see what it would be like. Never noticed before but your teams appearance changes as you level up. Was pretty cool having a trollslayer with a super huge mohawk and the other dwarves were encased in some heavy armor.

Thread is right here.

That's pretty damn slick, Brizahd. Thanks for the heads up on that, I might have to go check that out!

WAIT!

I put my grubby paws on the game from an online vendor, so I'll be joining the league!

Like Mysteri0 I'm in the current BGG league, ehich seems to be having abondonment issues. So count me in if a GWJ league starts.
edit: In fact I just checked and the BGG league has been disolved already.

PS. Be aware that I'm in the UK so time zones can be an issue. If everyone else in the GWJ league turns out to be from North America, I can sit it out to make matchmaking easier.

I would be up for a league since the BGG died.
