Brutal Legend Catch All

Agreed!

I thought for *sure* I had read some-a-wheres-reliable that this was getting a simultaneous PC release. Perhaps it was not to be.

There's also a rumor of a Wii version being ported/developed by another studio.

Really?

It's a working theory. Unless you can provide a better reason why you are insistent that a console should sit in every gamers home.

It's a downright tragedy.

Well I'll stop paying attention to this until a PC version is announced :(

CONFORM!

You know what sucks about Mr. Green? He's right about this. So very right. He told me to "CONFORM!" about 30 times a month. And it worked. I do not regret it.

Games are games, the platform they are delivered on is irrelevant. Go where the games are.

I saw this trailer and my mind just went boom.

Not being excited about a Tim Schafer game is grounds for site expulsion.

Please sir, I've learnt my mistake... Please don't expell me... i promise to love Tim Schafer forever...

I've only got a PC and a Wii. Can't justify the additional spending on another system.

You're welcome son. Glad I could help.

I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!

I'd love to have this on PC, but I'm grabbing it for the 360 on release day, unless the PC version gets announced as releasing the same day.

As far as console games go: If they support the 360 controller on the PC, I'll snag them there unless there is a compelling reason otherwise. (Like, the PC port being crap.)

I used to feel the same way, but now that my 360 is basically my Rock Band player, I not to sure that constitutes a console purchase.

And if it weren't for the PC version of Psychonauts, almost no one would be able to play it. Games may take longer to get to PC, but they never really go away.

I have a gaming PC. I've been PC gaming for over 20 years now, believe me I know. I'm just saying, there is no reason to limit yourself to one platform, I don't know why this is such a foreign concept.

Dear Brutal Legend,

I want to own you. Now.

Yours Truly,
Me

And I still don't know why you are so dead set on convincing people to buy consoles.

Why don't we take my case, my latest console purchase was a PS2, bought over a year after release. There were plenty of games that appealed to me, and I built up a small but respectable library. Even so, I rarely played my PS2, even for games that I loved like Shadow of the Colossus. For what I suspect are number of minor reasons, console gaming just doesn't hold my interest, even when specific console games can. I have no reason to believe that a current generation console would fare any better.

I'm not "limiting [myself] to one platform" but instead have a good appreciation of what will capture my interest. With that in mind, there is no reason for me to even consider buying a console. It isn't an elitism thing or even a deliberate choice.

So it isn't as clear-cut an issue as you seem to believe, where owning a console is a universal boon to any gamer who can afford it.

This is a Brutal Legend thread, stay on topic please. Much as I love the patented "Tannhauser twist" of turning conversations into personal arguments.

That one I have to dispute - since it came out for both PS2 AND Xbox.

Although it was fine on the Xbox, Psychonauts was damn near unplayable on the PS2.

And looking at the sales on those platforms, I would conjecture that my original statement is true, and over time will become even less disputable.

Still, I will play Brutal Legend on 360 if only to justify having a 360 and a Gamefly account.

And is not only backwards compatible for the 360, but also for purchase on XBLA.

Activision is suing to stop the release of the Jack Black video game "Brutal Legend."

Activision Entertainment Holdings sued game developer Double Fine Productions in Santa Monica, Calif., on Wednesday. The lawsuit claims that Double Fine transferred rights owned by Activision to Electronic Arts, which plans to release the game later this year.

Activision claims it still has a valid contract to release the game and has invested roughly $15 million in it.

Oh f*** no. They had their chance already and they blew it. Tough s***. Get over it and move on, Activision.

Isn't this the second lawsuit... was the first against EA?

[edit] That link doesn't work but this one (to a different outlet but same wording?) does.

Phone and e-mail messages left for Double Fine and Electronic Arts representatives weren't immediately returned.

"Brutal Legend" features Black as a heavy-metal roadie transported to a mythical world to fight evil. It's been heavily promoted at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Wow. Just wow.

Edit - fixed the link.

I got to play it for a bit at E3 which is certainly a horrible place to play a game that is so driven by voiceover but I had fun with it. The game seemed like a fun enough shell for the beautiful art and hilarity contained within, but it wasn't overly polished. Hopefully the game is complete and doublefine is focused on polishing up their cameras, animations and framerate. Still a must buy but it probably wouldn't be on my list if it wasn't funny.

There needs to be a mode where you can play the entire game with Tim doing a voice-over.

A special commentary mode would be sick (in a good way.)

One thing that struck we about the video was how much feedback the game was giving the player via the main characters voice bits.

Best part of that video is the metal music that starts when Eddie picks up the axe. I will be getting a new stereo system for this game.
