Sony Press Conference Catch-All

Time for the console wars again.

Let's not forget the games, mrtomaytohead. You need to include the games for each of those systems to show how expensive it is to buy a 360 or a Wii because neither of them comes with a great pack-in. Unlike the PS3, which has both of its good games as a pack-in.

RROD repairs cost $100? I processed one for a friend and it was completely free.. even the shipping.

I thought it was free as long as the warranty was within the 3 year limit.

And the point being, is it will die outside of the warranty period, but before the next console, at least once, so that's your repair bill. Google fu revealed one price of $107, another of $140, shipped.

Adam.G, yeah but Wii games are "teh lame" and look like crap, so you wouldn't buy games for it anyways, just more peripherals and heart monitoring software.

If the PSP came with a gsm phone it would be a fantastic device. I'd never carry a phone the size of the PSP 3000 but if the go is the size of an iphone it's much more appealing as a phone/gaming system. Sony-Ericsson could have easily teamed up with Sony's psp go developers and created a great phone/gaming system.

I'm going to pass on this one..

Agreed.. except they hate those guys with a passion.. its like almost two separate companies that actively compete against eachother.

That's fine, I was being anything but serious.

Well $50 x 5 (years) = $250 + $50 (for 1 wireless controller b/c online is aparantly the way to go now but you might want to play w/ someone else in the same room) $300 = $600, right? or if you find the deal when it happens, 30 x 5 = $150 +$50 = $500 oh yeah. lets throw in 1 RROD repair at $100, while we're at it, so $600-$700.

And Wii has the WiiMote / Nunchuck / Classic Controller / Motion Plus / Balance Board / Host of Plastic thingies. 4 sets of all that would set you back (taking into account one mote/chuck w/ system) = $340 for 4 players + $90 for balance board + $30 (low average, probably) for plastic things + $20 for an SDHC card + whatever for GC controllers (not included) = $460 + $250 = $730! But you get to play with real people in the same room as you.

PS3 = $400 flat fee because you'd be playing by yourself.

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

We already have actual trolls to cope with, now if we have makeshift pretend trolls it ain't gona be fun anymore.

Please control your urges

I will cheerfully pay money for The Last Guardian, God of War 3, and Uncharted 2. Everything else can go spit.

This is about where I'm at with Sony too.

And I'm iffy on The Last Guardian because I hated Ico and had long gotten rid of my PS2 before Shadow of the Colossus came out.

Re: The Last Guardian, I would just like to reiterate the words of Tycho from Penny Arcade:

"It's a shame that a substantial portion of this trailer was leaked prior to E3, dulling its impact..."

If I hadn't already seen the early video on Playstationlife I would have been absolutely floored. As it is I have my credit card details ready for the moment it can be ordered. We all know the game will end one of two soul-shattering ways, but that's not stopping me from desiring it with every fibre of my being.
