Doom 3 delayed, could be true....

Big fat DOH!!!

Yeah, that was my thought. Looks like HL2 will get a whole lot more lovin'' this holiday season...

Well looking at Half Life 2, Doom III looks sad and anemic. Maybe they are trying to spruce it up to compete, or just holding it off knowing that Half Life 2 will massacre its sales.

However, in a way its a good thing... this way we will be able to enjoys those games to the fullest, with out being haunted by the deadline of another game that must be played!

Can''t say I agree with either of those sentiments Sinatar. I really, seriously doubt that Doom 3 will hurt for sales regardless of when it''s released. And as I''ve said in the past as much as I''m looking forward to HL2, Doom 3 would be the I would choose if I could only have one. But luckly I don''t have to choose and will be able to enjoy both.

I have the funny feeling that HL2 might get pushed back, too. It''d be a last minute deal, though.

Well for setting precedents, Half Life wasnt exactly out on time...

Heh, I remember when Carmack showed that engine trailer way back at the MacWorld 2000 (IIRC) and there was this talk about how the game isn''t ready yet, but there ""might be a demo later this or early next year.""

That''s the beauty of the Half Life 2 development being so ""hush-hush"". They didn''t go bragging or showing it off until they knew they could hit the first release date they announced. It will be here Sept. 30

How much was Half Life delayed? I don''t remember, as I didn''t care about Half Life until after it was released.

Half Life 2 or just Half Life?

If you mean the first Half Life, which I assume you do, I have no clue. It really isn''t relevant in the release of Half Life 2 discussion imo. Valve has a different approach after having a mega-hit last time. It allows them to do what they want and when they want. That is why the waited so long to announce HL2 until it was almost done.

Yeah, Half Life, someone just mentioned it and I was curious. I agree, from the professional way they''ve handled HL2 they might just get it out on time.

Let''s hope at least. I would really love to be playing it here in about 70 days. It would honestly make my year for gaming. So, would have Doom 3 in a way as well.

Wasn''t the original HL delayed for over a year?

Ya Half Life 1 was delayed for quite a long time. Heck originally the game was supposed to be single player only. Imagine what the online mod community would be like today if that had happened...
