"Forza 3" Catch All

We should resurrect the Forza 2 thread and do some multiplayer again.

This announcement's got me jonesing something fierce for some racing.

Got to play it at E3 and enjoyed myself. The driving model seems a bit more accurate and at the same time a bit more casual than forza 2. The visuals are not nearly as annoying as Forza 2's and look gorgeous on the triple xbox display. If they can really improve 2's menu system and remove the grind I'll be so happy.

Some more good stuff coming out of E3 (props to CrassWindu posting these on the official forums):

A Gamespot interview and gameplay video with some really great stuff. Talks about track development, tire deformation/rollover simulation, and more. We also get a brief look at the very clean looking interface design.

More gameplay footage of someone tacking a Porche around the new track that they've been featuring in the other videos. Fun to watch them run around in the in-car view.

A quick demo of how a car rolling over might look.

Day F-ing one. Jaysus.

The in car view looks so freaken awesome. Much better & smoother then it did in PGR.

I predict far more interesting pictures being posted in our inevitable Forza 3 thread

Oh sweet lord, the "I am losing badly so now to drive backwards and cause havoc" nights just became 1000x more entertaining.

ME WANT. ME WANT NOW.

I do not know what you mean. That was an accident. I mistakenly aimed right for you, going full throttle and squealing like a little girl that got her first pony.

So what's the release date on this?

Not soon enough, it would seem. Looks like it'll be time to buy the wheel and build the seat for it.

October

And I think they stated in one of the interviewers that they were scheduled for October 27th.

Also, was reading in a few places that they have in fact confirmed that the game will be on two discs. One is the core game disk, and the other contains cars and tracks that you'll have to install to hard disk and will handled like DLC: ie> The game will still work with the one disk, even without the additional content copied to your hard drive, but you'll be limited in what cars and tracks you'll have available.

I have a dream in which Forza is released alongside Project Natal, whereby Natal tracks my head such that I can naturally turn my head side to side and affect my field of view. I don't (necessarily) want the "driving with my hands in the air" nonsense, I'd rather use a FF wheel. But track my head and I would find it hard to impossible to ever take the disc out of the tray.

I hope they use their new magic camera to control your head while in cockpit view. That'd be HOT!

Regardless, day 1 here as well.

MY dream.

BROTHER!

I have a feeling that is what Natal will allow, and why TrackIR was never ported to the 360. This alone will make it worthwhile to me, especially if the same thing is done with the Console IL2 due to ship this year.

That's the first awesome use of Natal I've heard. It would work so well.

I wish this came out sooner. I've got Forza on the brain ever since I read the announcement.

But then you can't see the screen.

It watches this and it gets back to me on that.

Natal as "invisible Power Glove", I couldn't be less interested in.

Natal as "better arm-flailing EyeToy gaming", I don't care for either.

Natal as "little boy stalking simulator", definitely not.

But Natal as "TrackIR for console", that I can get behind!

The PlayStation's glowing ball vibrator looked a lot better as a pointing and swinging device than Natal. But that won't do head tracking. If Natal does TrackIR-style head tracking, then it'll have something awesome.

Fixed.

I can't wait to see what Japanese developers do with Sony's wand.

"Sexy Beach 4: Total Inserti.. I mean, Immersion!"

That would be awesome - I use my trackIR for rfactor on the pc and it's great

If would be great if we could use the USB thumbstick as a backup for gamesaves, gamer profiles, XBLA games, etc. But damn Microsoft and their overpriced proprietary memory units, which makes this thumbstick pretty much useless.

But since I'm a big fan of Forza 2 and a huge supporter of Turn10 (bought all the DLC), I'll be picking this up, or seeing what CE/LE Amazon or BestBuy might have.

So glad I held off getting FM2 and decided to wait for FM3. I'm not a huge racing fan, just wanted something fun and no problems waiting.

Man, rent it...Forza 2 is so awesome. I am with a lot of the crew that I wasn't ever into sim-type racing until I rented Forza 2. So. Very. Awesome. And, if you didn't see all the crazy car designs...pull up the Forza 2 thread and look at some of the awesome creations that folks made.

I'd really recommend renting just to get pumped for Forza 3!

The Platinum Hits version of Forza 2 has all the DLC included on a separate disk, for $20, I think. I rented Forza 2 at launch, but grabbed the PH version just to have it. I popped it back in last night and started playing again. Too bad my save got deleted at some point.

Newsflash: Patrick Soderlund, the Senior Vice President at EA Games Europe says NFS: Shift is clearly better than Forza 3.

I'm waiting for the whole internet to laugh itself to a complete stop.

He also says Blur by Bizarre Creations (You know, those guys that made a little game called Project Gotham Racing...) is completely underwhelming.

What's that, the senior VP for a company likes his company's game better than the competition?

NO WAI!

Blur is totally underwhelming. Split/Second on the other hand, is totally awesome.

If I had to rate the racing games of E3 it would be:

1. Split/Second aka Michael Bay's Mario Kart - pure fun and sex appeal.
2. Trials HD - The most organic controlling game I played at the show.
3. Forza 3 - Feels good, looks good and will have longer legs than Split/Second but is also likely to include hours of painful grinding to unlock sh*t.
4. Shift - Feels and looks good but doesn't have the depth of Forza.
5. Blur - Everything bad about previous NFS games plus a bad version of death race.

I hadn't seen anything on this game, so I looked it up. Frickin' A! That looks like a blast!

I want.
