It's actually Cain Velasquez vs. Cheik Kongo, Herring pulled out.

I think it's a pretty decent card. The problem with stacking UFC 100 is that it's going to pull talent that would have normally been dispersed among other cards.

I knew about Kongo from Sherdog, and it totally slipped my mind.

What's strange is that Franklin's last fight was a headliner, too, against Hendo. I say strange because to me, he's mainly the guy who got his nose broken by Silva. Twice. Franklin vs. Silva, who seems to me to be well on his way to retirement, just seems like the top of a placeholder PPV at best.

Rich Franklin is an amazing fighter. He's far more then the guy who got his nose broken by Silvia, he was champion for good reason.

Regardless, the fight will tell us nothing at all about the weight class. That's not a very good thing for a headlining fight.

I love Rampage, but I think he is the wrong fighter to take on Machida. Machida is a classic counterpuncher and seems to have brawlers nailed down. A chessmatch between someone like Machida and another tactician like Silva might be an interesting match, though they might also end up avoiding one another.

He may be the "wrong" fighter but he's certainly owned another shot at the title. He was supposed to fight Evans at UFC 98 but Dana withdrew him because of a jaw injury. I would have loved to see Evans and Rampage slug it out for the title.

Absolutely no doubt that this is Rampage's fight. He certainly has earned it. That said, I think he would have had an easier time with Rashad.

Was it just me or did it look like Rashad was running his mouth right up until Machida turned his lights out?

He was running his mouth.

Isn't he always? I'm not a fan of Rashad for that reason. I'm glad that Machida won.

Personally I love watching him fight. Some people call him boring because he doesn't brawl but theres more to striking than swinging away wildly.

I was also glad to see Machida win - even moreso after hearing him in the post fight interview. He's able to do things seem next to impossible - like that low left kick/left jab that basically happen at the same time or the low right kick, right kick to the head combo without resetting his stance. Amazingly quick and agile stuff.

So, as everyone on the planet predicted, Canseco got beatdown. 77 seconds. The surprise of the card, if you can call it that, was Bob Sapp getting submitted by an Achilles lock, which I didn't think looked all that menacing from the video. I hope Lashley destroys him on 6/27.

In other news. the Affliction 3 card for 8/1 is shaping up nicely. Here's what been confirmed:

WAMMA Heavyweight Championship bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett
Light heavyweight bout: Gegard Mousasi vs. Vitor Belfort
Welterweight bout: Jay Hieron vs. Paul Daley
Lightweight bout: Dan Lauzon vs. Chris Horodecki

Tim Sylvia has will also be fighting an TBA opponent.

The surprise of the card was Sapp getting submitted? You ever see him fight, that was no more a surprise then Canseco getting beat down.

The surprise of the card was Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto getting beaten by a complete nobody. I guess it can be expected after major surgery and a 16 month layoff but still.

I was referring to the way he got subbed and how early it was into the fight. Agreed on Yamamoto. That's a long time to be out of the ring and he obviously had some rust.

Have any of you been following Gegard Mousasi (24-2 Middleweight)? I hadn't heard of him until just recently and am catching up on some of his fights now. He won the DREAM 6 Middleweight Tournament in 2008 with a nasty Upkick KO. I'm curious to see how he does against Belfort.

UFC 99 has some interesting fights but zero buzz. There's a rumor that there will be a Cro Cop sighting at that fight. Yawn.

The best fight coming up in the near future is the WEC rematch on June 7 between Mike Brown and Urijah Faber. That has Fight of the Year potential.

Is anyone else here saddened by how quickly Jens Pulver has gone from real contender to punch drunk speedbag?

I am. Pulver held his own against Faber the first time but looked very, very mortal the second time around.

He's 1-5 in his last six bouts. Not good.

And his after fight speech about how he loves his wife and kid and that the beatdown he took was all for them just about wanted to make you cry.

I think it's a decent card. Franklin usually puts on good fights and Silva will probably give it his all following the embarassing KO from Rampage. Kongo (I'm a fan of his) is fighing Cain Velasquez who many believe will eventually make a run at the HW title. As for Cro Cop, last I heard he'll be fighing Mostapha Al Turk and honestly, it'll probably be a quick KO. Other than that, the card is weak.

Caol Uno vs. Spencer Fisher should be a great fight as well.

Looks like EA Sports is getting into the MMA game:

Not sure how they could compete with the roster that UFC has in their game - just on name recognition. I would assume they'd get everyone who wasn't bound to the UFC contract - Fedor being the biggest name. I know EA Sports has the brand recognition, but w/out the fighter name recognition would they be in the same boat as someone who wanted to make a profesisional footballl game?

It didn't appear to have any license attached to it which was weird. I figured it'd be Afflicition or Strikeforce or something.

Something like EA Sports MMA Presented by Affliction - but maybe that would be too limiting in picking up other fighters.

As far as fighter roster goes, I would assume they'd get anyone who has any sort of name recognition and wasn't tied to the UFC deal - Fedor, Randy (he's oddly missing from the UFC game), Kimbo Slice :), the rest of the Affliction fighters, Strike Force, etc - even then, you're only looking at maybe 25-30 recognizable fighters if you dig really deep. I think the new/mainstream MMA fan may not know who very many of those guys are.

Gina Carano and Cyborg for EA's MMA game?

Kimbo Slice is going to be in the next season of TUF.

Dear. God. Why.

Hell, I'd watch it if I was in the states just so I can see him get schooled by hopeful UFC fighters.

Dana White has had an offer out for Kimbo to be on TUF since October of 2008.

When UFC President Dana White was asked if he would consider offering Kimbo Slice a UFC contract, he responded by saying, “he can be on The Ultimate Fighter. What's he done other than get 10 million hits on YouTube, what's he done to deserve to be in the UFC? Nothing. I don't consider him a real athlete. He won't win The Ultimate Fighter. The offer's out there if he wants to take it, but he won't win it.”

I think this is Kimbo's last shot at getting any kind of publicity now that he's been revealed to be nothing but a freakshow. I see him getting humiliated in the ring and eliminated early.

Isn't the next season of TUF NOT going to have the guys "fight their way into the house"? I'd rather see Kimbo try to fight his way in and lose and then him not even be mentioned after the first couple of shows - similar to Junie's brother in the current season. Him being there for the entire season would make for some interesting TV - especially if he gets eliminated quickly...That being said, it wouldn't change the fact that we skip the non-fight portions of the show these days anyway.

That is awesome! I can't wait to see the drama unfolding. Not that I have any expectations for Kimbo. I just want to hear what everyone will have to say about him. Also cool of Dana to honor the invite.

Fixed!

The next season of TUF has the potential to be the greatest reality show in the history of television.

Well when I say drama I'm mainly talking about how much we will hear about Kimbo. People have been pretty vocal on different web sites saying he is a joke, was fed cans, ect. It will be nice to see what Rampage and Evans think of him when he fights to be in the house. The drama from people being stupid I can do without. Like a good example is Junie Browning. I swear that kid must have some dirt on Dana or something... Can't stand him and I have a lot of respect for the guys who put up with his stupid antics. I know I wanted to punch him and I wasn't even there. Seeing people get drunk and tear up the house is well just boring in my opinion. TUF isn't perfect but I do enjoy it. I'm glad they're getting away from the champion and top contenders being coaches.

Wonder if it'll be WEC, which is owned by Zuffa.

This news is awesome for so many reasons. This season of TUF was already going to be must-watch with Rampage and Evans and because it's all heavyweights to feed the much deprived division. Now, we throw in Kimbo Freakshow Slice in the mix and it's sure to be quite entertaining. I respect Dana for honoring the offer as I expected him to flake it Kimbo accepted and props to Kimbo for taking the risk of getting destroyed and embarrased again. I know Kimbo doesn't get much Goodjer love, understandably, but I for one, hope he does well and ultimately gets a wealth of experience and some form of a contract to fight.

Does anyone know if Bobby Lashley tried out for this season? He's a fighter that I'd love to see get a legitimate shot and from a talent standpoint, he arguably deserves one more than Kimbo.

For as little experience as Brian Stann has and as one-dimensional as his fight is, I am still convinced he would beat the living snail snot out of Kimbo the Bimbo in a very one-sided fight. He could even give away ALL of the weight Kimbo wants and still kick his ever loving ass.

Isn't Bobby set to fight Bob Sapp? They're already filiming TUF 10 according to a Dana blog.
