L4D Goodjer group on Steam

I'm kinda torn about L4D2. I want it, badly, but it seems too soon. L4D didn't even get a new campaign.

Oh what the hell. CHAINSAW!

Yeah I am really excited about it also but also thinking that it might be to soon. At the same time guess it seems smart I mean it's a game that's selling and people really like it then give the people what they like. Oh and yes that was a chainsaw Giggity

I'd like to believe it's a technical limitation and not just a money grab. Everyone I've looked most people seem disappointed of having a game (L4D) having such short legs that it lasted only a year (Nov'08 to Nov'09).

Looking forward to killing (and be killed) in new settings with new infections!

-------------EDIT----------
I'm sure enough fans will be vocal enough to warrant a response from Valve sooner rather than later. I'm sure they'll never admit to money grabbing, even if it were the main reason.

As stated in another post, I'm crossing my fingers for a new major Engine overhaul.

I think they looked at L4D as an experiment, they got the basics down, now they can do a lot more with L4D2. There's too much info in the press release and the RPS preview to paste here, but after reading both of those articles I definitely believe that's the case.

EDIT: Yeah, read those articles and see if you still think that's DLC-level additions.

I'll buy it. No lie. I'm still weirded out by the idea of a sequel coming out of Valve a year later but ...

CHAINSAW!

Frying pan! Incendiary ammo! Daylight levels! With Witches WANDERING AROUND! The Director changing the weather and the levels themselves! Dismember the zombies! Gore!

And in one screenshot it seems there's fighter jets flying in the background.

That article makes it sound like they added everything I thought was missing from the original. GET OUT OF MY BRAIN, VALVE!

Also, that Charger dude sounds great. Giant arm? Charge attack? Picking up people and slamming them into the pavement? Sold.

Not that impressed. Price will be a huge issue for me... plus i hate the idea of making you advance by artificially spawning in enemies until you hit the "stop switch" like in Call of Duty.

Watch IGN's L4D2 videos. Those have soured me on this a fair bit, just watch them yourself.

I'm pretty unhappy with Valve on this, since it seems like L4D never got the after-release support that everyone was expecting. With a sequel in the works, I would guess that any ideas for new content were preferentially folded into L4D2 rather than worked into the original. It is pretty disappointing from a company I expected more of.

Chainsaws schmainsaws. Give us a flamethrower, Valve! The people demand it!

I think that's something Left 4 Dead has needed in their crescendo events for a while. There's a lot that are obviously meant to be played on the run, but which wind up being easier in multiplayer if you just hole up in a corner. There's a lot of ways they could make it make more sense than Call of Duty style clown-car spawns - like giving you a door to get through that you could slam shut behind you, locking the horde out.

I just hope they keep the original cast. I think we have all become fairly attached to them by now.

They could always do preferential pricing for people with L4D. L4D2 (new droid?) for 50% off would get a lot of current L4D players much more amenable to switching.

Watch IGN's L4D2 videos.

Melee weapons? Finally!

It's four different people.

Possible box art for the game

It's a crescendo event where you can't just huddle up in a closet. The game needs this.

It can't be too major as it will only go as far as the 360 can accomodate, presumably, with a few extra options to turn on for the PC.

And besides, I thought the point of Source was that it is fairly modular, so incremental improvements can be made, rather than the classical'id style' approach to engine development with major overhauls roughly coinciding with each gen of graphics cards. Heard on the recent 1up podcast that id are already working on tech 6 without 5 even out the door yet. The incremental, modular engine dev approach means improvements can just be added 'as and when'...

What no duel wielding frying pans? FAIL!
*edit* There better be some Emeril BAM jokes in this game.

Coach looks like Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I'm stoked for it. Since last November, I've put more hours into L4D than any other game by far. If I get another 100+ hours out of L4D2 I'll consider it more than worthwhile.

John Cusack, Rutina Wesley, Reginald VelJohnson, Casey Affleck

If it takes place in the South then I expect to be better equipped.

I was thinking the same thing

In IGN's dock start video one of the characters (presumably on the left in the poster above) has a friendly-fire bark "You're really gonna shoot a guy in a $3,000 suit? Come on!"

Perhaps this is a clue that the outbreak was all caused by a Gobias Industries project gone wrong?

HAHAHAHAHAHA. The man is so right.

Well, I wasn't planning on buying this, but now there's little choice.

The dude on the right kinda reminds me of the TF2 scout and the dude in the suit needs to ditch it or he's gonna be the first to get grabbed by the zombies. Didn't the team read the zombie survival handbook? No loose clothing! Especially unzipped/unbuttoned jackets.

Mutliple edits fixing stupid stuff

Where is my redneck character? It's set in the Southern US. Maybe they'll meet him along the way sitting on his front porch cappin zombies a mini safe room to resupply ammo and health. I've got my stash of ammo.

I want a supermarket level.

Also, abbreviation L4D2 sounds like a name of a generic cute beeping robot from Star Wars.
