WoW: GWJ Alliance Guild Primer

I just started playing again over the last week. I hadn't played since the first month of launch(Stopped after due to life getting in the way, and somehow never got back around to it until now).

Definitely interested in joining the guild. The few pick-up groups I dared join I instantly regretted, so having a good group of people would be great. An MMO just isn't an MMO without some guild chatter as well. I'm not sure how hardcore I'll be, I consider myself a relatively casual player and I usually play in spurts, but it seems like the guild has room for all types. I am playing quite of bit over the next few weeks because I'm really intrigued by some of the Liche King stuff I've heard about, I just have to get to a level to see it!

I'm currently playing as Gertbeef (22 Hunter). Hope to see you guys in game soon.

I've reactivated my account after 2 years absence, and I'm not sure it'll take without some serious social networking. I played Final Fantasy XI for 3 years and that game is heavily social, it's what kept me going.

I'm a bit tempted to transfer my Warrior to your server, as tanking is about the only role I enjoy in this game, but I dunno if I could handle the stresses of raiding, or even normal instancing.

Any guild Warriors have insight on the new talents/content? Also, how goes the Paladin (I have a 56)/Death Knight tanking?

Paladin tanking is awesome. I hear Warrior tanking is awesome.

Both classes can DPS well, also.

Felt the urge to start up my Wow account for the third time in the past years, and started up a little Hunter on this lovely server. I'll be applying for my Fairy Princess title sometime today I'm sure. Hopefully all you 80's have time to talk to a 25. Then again, I have a pretty good case of alt-ites and will probably have a few characters going in a month. Hope to talk to ya guys soon!

Well, bummer. I went to transfer my Warrior to Blackhand today, to find the realm is not an eligible destination.

They're doing free transfers off of Blackhand right now. Once that's done, there shouldn't be a problem transferring.

I'll keep an eye on that, thanks for the heads-up.

I always play horde but thinking about starting an alliance toon, DK. I am assuming every class welcomed to this.

Would like to know bank rules.

These are touched on in the loot rules but not in detail. Who to ask for what, etc. Don't know the cultural milieu.

There are limits for withdrawals that are meant to police what and how much people take out. If you can get to it, you're pretty much welcome to it.

Things that one can't access, in the tabs with higher restrictions, you'll need to ask an officer or possibly CFO about in-game. Don't be hesitant to ask, the gbank is crowded as it is; note the MotD is about cleaning it out.

Recently some stuff has been getting DE'ed and/or sold because it's just sitting in there rotting. So if you see something you need, ask away while it's still there!

Hi All,
Long time lurker, love the podcast! I figured it was time to become a upstanding member of the community and create an account. With all the WoW talk on the podcast, I could not help myself and I re-subscribed. Looking forward to joing you all in the guild. Can't wait! I promise I'll be a good fairy princess

Ya I have been lurking for a bit now and loved the podcast. Love that the community seems to be all about being friendly and funny not competitive. I havnt played WoW in llike a year and am thinking of restarting to join the guild.....but I am a little nervous about having to restart all over again(and as Alliance to boot heh)and then probally not have anyone to play with since everyone is probally in the 70's or lvl 80.

There are folks leveling alts, and I'm in my 4th week back or so, and I'm already sitting at 60. The level acceleration really moves you along.

What level acceleration? Did they speed things up? I knew for your first month back there was a 3x experience with a friend you join with but I thought that was just 1 specific person?

No, the old-world content, and BC to a degree, have all been marginally accelerated. The friend thing is an additional acceleration. What I've noticed most is that quest rewards and mob XP are a lot higher than they used to be.

Wanted to stop in and say Hello to everyone, joined the guild about a month ago but have been pretty busy with work and trying to level and havn't really stopped by to post, and Magus if you need someone to play with going up hit me up when your in, i'm always up for helping people level.

Just wanted to say that I'm glad to be a member of the GWJ Alliance. Looking forward to some fun times.

Look me up. I'm Queburt, the little gnomish DK that could.

Hey there, I was interested in joining your guild, as it seems like the premise of this gaming community is a good fit for me.

Im currently in the US Marine Corps and both my wife and I play WoW, but not nearly as often as I did when I was in college. The training schedule and deployments break up my play time quite a bit, but I'd like a place where the two of us could play with other people who sometimes gotta put life first and gaming second. Ironically, I'll be doing some training next week that'll take me out of the game for almost a month. My wife will be around though. If that kind of thing won't be too big of an issue, we'd like to join up and get to meet a few of you.

My character's name is Weyne (73 Human DK) and hers is Lizzi (74 Human paladin.) We originally played on Alterac Mountains (PvP) server, but our guild made up of my college buddies dissolved pretty much after TBC came out, so I haven't raided since Naxx/AQ 40, but I've still got the edge

Just PM an officer in game and we'll get you set up with your tutus.

Just re-activated my account after an almost 2 year hiatus. I never played with the GWJ folks last time around and my old guilds appear to have folded. Trying to decide whether to start a newbie character on Blackhand or just start a Deathknight so I can be involved with the higher level content faster. I know this is a useless question for a guild with almost 500 characters, but is there anything the guild needs characterwise?

Standard reply: Play what's fun.

Also, this should totally be at the top of the page.

Hey folks,

After about a year, Cinster's back! I took a break from MMOs, then dabbled with LoTRO to explore Moria and EVE to buy a cruiser but they haven't sucked me in.

I need to spend some time relearning how to be a good warlock before I try to rejoin the guild (especially since so much has changed due to patches) but I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again! I doubt that I'll have the time to get back into the raiding scene though.

Huzzah! And you don't have to wait to rejoin the guild, bro.

Hello everyone!

Been browsing the WoW forums here for a while since my cousin and RL friends xfer'd and joined GWJ. Just wanted to say hello! I've reactivated my account to join up with Lawdog, Rebif, Lunastus and Malevoco.

I've heard wonderful things about GWJ! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Great to have you on board Geo!

Feel free to hit me up for enchants (Tashidawa) or gems (Dorjeshugden) or if you want to talk warlocks and their WotLK changes.

Hey, I got some free game time for my birthday and was looking to rejoin the guild. Any way that could happen?

Just pop a message to one of the officers (likely in-game Shanker, or Krindle, or Azorius), or if you can't get ahold of one of them, pop me a message (Narayan) and I'll see if I can get ahold of one of them if they're on an alt.

If I have never played WoW before and am looking to try it out, is the GWJ guild a good fit for me, or should I try to get some experience on my own before joining? It sounds like there are enough members of all levels that I should be fine, but I have had less-than-enjoyable experiences trying to break in as a new player in these types of situations.

GWJ is a great place to level, although most of us are 80s and raiding. We certainly have people levelling their first characters, as well as zillions of alts at all levels. You can often get a level-appropriate instance group together by planning ahead.

We do seem to have a guild of alt-oholics, plus, any of the lvl 80s are usually willing to come help someone level their main. GWJ really is a great guild.
