Bush Recession my ass...

Sorry for the strong language in the subject. For those of you who are actually "asses", I am not trying to offend your designated group...

I think we can officially refer to the "Clinton recession", since it started in March 2001.

For those of you who are actually ""asses"", I am not trying to offend your designated group...

That was actually kind of funny.

Just kind of? Come on, I''ve had some great lines in the forum... You may not agree with my poilitics, but I can be damn funny - and humble to boot...

And I suppose the 3 million jobs lost are all part of the recovery, right?

No, but you need to address you complaints to Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party.

The President cannot turn around an economy by him self. I don''t think we should blame Clinton either.

Personally I blame Iraq. They''re the cause of all our problems. Them and the mozarella/american cheese twists they sell at the supermarket......think they can fool me.....I know it''s really one flavor of cheese! Coloring half of it yellow won''t cover up your deception, Kraft!

As I said in an earlier thread, Bush is no more responsible for the recession than Clinton is for the upswing.

Now, the fact that the recession was short, and the resulting upswing can be attributed to the fast action taken by the current Administration.

The results of which remain to be seen. As I see it, it''s a stop-gap measure that''ll end up screwing over the next Administration, be it Democrat or Republican.

I like pie.

Now THAT made me crack up! :rotflmao:

Let''s make George Tenet the fall guy!

and humble to boot

Now _that_ is funny!

I think we can just about blame everything wrong with America on George Tenet. I bet he was the one behind Reuben getting chosen over Clay.

Damn you George Tenet! Damn you!!

Hate to actually get back on topic, but if you look at the history of unemployment in the US, you''re looking around 6%. We''re pretty close to that now....what you''re reading about, as far as unemployment is comparing it to the ultra lows of a few years ago, which wasn''t the norm.

To get back off topic, it sure seems like we''re getting quite a few conservative types in here....always a good thing. This place was getting sickenly leftish, with only Ulari and myself to stand guard.

We also have a recession in this country every 8-10 years, regardless of the partisan make-up of the government. Unfortunately, the media is run by businessmen, and politics is run by, well, politicians. History and economics don''t really enter into the discussion when there''s good blame to be had!

Clinton may have been a doofus, but he at least just sat on his duff and hooked up with interns. Bush is a bigger doofus and is doing something much more dangerous -- stoking the flames of hate all over the world with his three-incher.

When he and his cronies wanted to attack Iraq, I suspended disbelief and forced myself to trust those that supposedly had more information than us (the citizens). It''s becoming clear now that they didn''t know anything, and the consequences of this are disturbing. Today, I officially declare this presidential administration a clusterpork.

And yet, they''ve managed to raise more campaign money then all the Democratic candidates combined.

If thats clusterporking, then I don''t want...ummm, whatever the opposite of clusterporking is.

That''s what happens when you''re under the covers with large corporations, and devote all of your political power to serving their interests. So, technically, yes... clusterpork applies even moreso.

Actually, the overwhelming majority of Republican contributions come from individual donors, and the average contribution size is under $1000.

Republicans as a group happen to be better off financially than Democrats (or at least more willing to make a donation), and are more able to make a donation as an individual. The limits on soft money donations from special interests hurt the Democrats far more than the Republicans.

I''m all talk. I just don''t like the president and was trying to make bold statements to offend others into aggreeing with me.

Near term...

This issue has made the talk show circuits for a while now. The consensus is in the near term.

I don''t think so. Republicans have always done better on the small scale donations compared to the Democrats. I think that it will take a few years for the Democrats to set up a grass roots group like the Republicans. Talk Radio, News Max, all of those talking head groups, etc.

Wouldn''t the culprits of bad economic times be the mega corporations outsourcing jobs to third world countries, firing employees to cut down costs, importing cheaper goods from out of the country? All the money in the US is bleeding to other parts of the world.

No.

Out of context, but prophetic in its own way. From July 17, 2003:

Holy non-sequitor thread resurrection, Batman!

No.

Welp, can''t argue with that!

Happy 10 year anniversary, thread. (?)

Just.. wow. "Out of left field" doesn't begin to describe it.

I wonder if ol' Ral still appears here incognito.

Still miss Rat Boy!
