50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Catch-All

I hear Fiddy wants to do a Saint's Row movie, too.

or die trying.

I bought this simply because it looked totally ridiculous and I could laugh at it.

It combines elements from Army of Two (silly co-op door opening), Gears of War (cover, although a slightly annoying sticky version), The Club (Kill! Wait? No! Kill faster!) and rail shooters (DANGER spots appear over monster closets before they burst). It also has the obligatory and slightly ropey implementation of bullet time, dubbed Gangster Fire (the gauge for it is even on fire when full)

The story is such gangsta romp nonsense it's a joy. It couldn't care less about good taste or morals or even sense and it's actually refreshing to play a game as straight forward as this - there truly are no gimmicks, just tried and tested mechanics that work and a special button for cursing.

Perhaps that's what makes it - a total nonsense story on top of a no-nonsense game.

Edit: Also 50's in-game likeness wears a permanent stoic gormless expression which is entertaining every time I see it.

That should be ... good.

Skimming a single page of posts? Lobster, for shame....

This is about the most attention I'll ever pay to a rapper, so I'm not ashamed.

I picked it up. Boo if you want. It's a fun game. Especially for the unintended humor value.

I still can't believe that this is a semi-possibly-maybe half decent game...

*checks Hell's temperature*

Even though I've never played this (and don't plan to: shooters + console = teh suck for me at least), I think this video review (NSFW, like the game) sums up nicely what DSGamer and others are saying about this. Plus the review was actually pretty funny.

Thank you for that. I was struggling to describe how this game is oddly spectacular. That sums it up well.

Bought this game for my little bro, swearing it was good. Either we both have bad taste or it's highly underrated. He's buying it from me instead of just borrowing it. Awesome.

Zero Punctuation reviewed 50 Cent today, and man was it funny.

I really wish I could play this. After listening to the coverage on the podcast circuit, I want to play it just to experience the world that Fiddy either thinks he lives in, or thinks is hilariously gangsta.

You should try to find a way to play it. My brother and I beat half the levels on co-op. It was so fun playing together that we're planning on running through the game 3 or 4 more times.

Jesus, stuff like this happens more often, and we won't have to worry about global warming, as the plummeting temperature in Hell will offset it.

Something funny my brother found at the end of the Zero Punctuation review.

Hell's temperature has never fully recovered after how surprisingly good the Chronicles of Riddick game was. From what I've heard from a couple places, the followup to the game is supposed to be pretty good as well.

I'm going to keep evangelizing this game. It's good. Really good. Especially in co-op. It's very arcade-y, but that's a good thing. It's cheesy, but that's part of the fun.

This game is utterly, hopelessly ridiculous... and it's ALL the better for it! The developers didn't just rip off mechanics from other good games, they actually had enough sense to rip it off properly. Everything works so well together and even though the game is a bit on the simplistic side, it's tremendous fun. Nothing says gangsta more than blowing up a Mil Mi-24 with your sidearm (or should that be "nine").

Hopefully Fiddy's vanity gives me a sequel...

Right on!

So I picked this game up at Wal-Mart in Canada for like 20 bucks, I have to say it's pretty fun and I was wondering if anyone would like to play it with me?

Wow, $20 is a great price for this game (I think the currency exchange is about equal for us now?)... I've been waiting for a drop to pick it up, and that would definitely do the trick.

I would, happily. Co-op is a joyous romp of insanity.

I just played this. It is hilariously stupid, but also fun to play.

I laughed quite a lot. The gameplay is solid, nothing great, just very playable and easy to get into. Everything else is trashy and stupid in a kind of delightful way.

Actually glad I rented it.

I kept hearing people rave about this game, how ridiculous and fun it was and actually fun to play with some pretty good game/shooting mechanics. So, when I came across a new copy for the 360 for 10 euros, I bought it. Only played for an hour or so, but I'm liking it. It's the same ridiculous no-story-fun that made me play Saints Row 1 and 2. Too bad they only had 1 copy at the local store, would love to play this with my regular coop buddy now that we're done with Borderlands...

great game. Bought it recently and I wish it was trophy patched. Its such a bad game that its good again. Lovely graphics. OTT gameplay. I really really enjoyed it.

I really wished it got trophy patched

I just purchased it again recently so that I could play with my little brother online. We ran through the game once with him being Tony Yayo. Now I want to run back through it and get the achievements being the sidekick as Lloyd Banks. Definitely one of the most "fun" games this generation if that's the pure judge of the game.

Got Fiddy on sale for $10 from New Egg, and boy, am I glad I did. This is clearly the Snakes on a Plane of video games.

Played through the first few missions last night and laughed my head off. The cursing reaches new heights of gratuity. Do you really need to say "It's all f***in' clear out here!" instead of "It's all clear out here"? Of course you do, Tony Yayo.

My favorite line? Mr. Cent himself, on the effort necessary to lift a large metal shutter: "C'mon, man, we gotta work together on this sh*t!"

Also, Lance Reddick (Lost, Fringe, The Wire) voices a character in this game? Where the hell did that come from?

If anybody is up for some co-op achievement hunting, friend me up!

Holy sh*t, does he invoke chain of command on you at any point? "Chain of command, Fiddy."?

The game is gold. The fact that more people don't know how good it is is a shame. I might be up for the co-op achievements. I need a lot of them and it's my intent for this to be the first game I go 1000 / 1000 on achievement points. Oh, wait, 360 or PC?

360, sorry. Agreed, this seems like a pretty easy 1000/1000. I'm doing a solo run-through on Normal now, and definitely want to revisit it in co-op.

Didn't encounter that, but he did keep telling me I needed to go on a walkabout...
