If they dance this way, then PvZ is my GOTY.

That's exactly how it is

Um guys I wouldn't waste your money on this. Its neat and all but Frontline Defense has more depth and free.

this game you link doesn't have the same type of gameplay, the card mechanic, the zen garden, the minigames, the humor, etc. I get the feeling you're trolling...

Fang is far from a troll, he just has a different opinion. Like anything you can get something similar for free somewhere.

The existence of a free game doesn't negate commercial takes on the idea. Quake Live doesn't mean that it's necessarily stupid to buy FarCry 2, nor does Free Realms make WoW a bad idea. Free flash match-3 games don't negate Bejeweled 2 and free TD games definitely don't negate the charm, polish and attention to detail that Popcap brings to their interpretation of the genre.

Demigod is just DotA, why would you buy it?

Really enjoying it so far. Yes, it's easy but I just played it for almost 2 hours without noticing the time go by. The reason it remains fun is that you constantly get something new to do, either a new plant, a new mini-game, something to spend money on etc. The presentation is great, good music and theres constantly been a smile on my face.

I'm hoping it does get a bit more challenging towards the end but I already feel I've got my moneys worth (especially with the free copy of Heavy Weapon Deluxe).

Well, I found myself slightly bored when I got back to daylight. Turning it off for now. See, I can do that.

I just encountered this and spent the entire round cursing off Michael Jackson. So awesome.

I'm definitely addicted, just played over 4 hours without a break. I've just got to the first levels with fog and it's definitely getting more challenging.

I've also had a go at some of the mini-games that have been unlocked. So far I only have access to three of them but from the empty spaces it looks like there are a lot more (20 I'm guessing). The first one involved being attacked by zombie-plants that shot back at you, the 2nd was a more challenging version of the bowling game from earlier which gave me my first death.

From the main menu it also looks as though there is a puzzle mode and survival mode which I'm guessing will be unlocked when the main game is finished. Overall it looks like there's still plenty left do do and if you liked the demo at all this is definitely worth a purchase, great value for money.

I've played about 5 hours so far (at home sick) and I'd describe this game as "Base Defense" rather than tower defense. The zombies all move towards you in 5 straight paths, and all you have to do is build up your resource gatherers and defenders. Well, that's the simplified explanation. There are some elements that they add in later on that make the game much more challenging, but this game is far different from the traditional "enemy moves on a path, place weapons with attack radius" tower defense game.

I like the minigames. Good distraction, great for making money.

Thanks for the tip. Didn't occur to me that the minigame money would carry over.

Make sure to click "help' on the main menu. Hilarious.

Looked up and it's already 8. This is going to be bad.

I'm loving this

I of course have more screenshots.

Is talking about the various zombies you encounter spoilers? Should we not talk about that yet?

This is my favorite one so far:

I love this game.

Random fact that I noticed the first time I saw him: Crazy Dave has no thumbs.

I'm really enjoying the game. Best $10 I've spent in a while.

My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that the lawn mowers make the game too easy. I'm only about halfway done at the moment (just entered the backyard), and from what I've read here, it gets harder towards the end, so maybe I'll actually fail a level at some point and have to retry.

I'm sitting at the computer at work totally sleepy. PvZ is responsible.

Finally got to play this tonight. Having fun so far Starting to get a bit tired of replanting the sunflowers and getting everything bootstrapped in the beginning, but otherwise it's been pretty good. Really loving the charm and humor that oozes off of every bit of this

I saw that coming, so I stopped playing last night as soon as I finished the third level. Tonight I may not be that lucky.

I only played to level 1-8 last night, but in that time alone the laughter I enjoyed was well worth the $10 (and I know I'm far from finished with this one). I laughed more in that 60 minutes or so than I do during many "comedies" I've paid $10 to catch at the theater.

I caught myself playing at work while I was on the phone.

I played through the first two maps (day and night front yard) last night. I didn't check the clock until the switch to the new map, and, as a result, I got notably less sleep than usual last night.

You must be fungii. There's an plant you'll unlock later on that will let you guys stay awake in the daytime.

I just got that a few levels ago and cannot figure out why I would want it. None of the mushrooms are good enough to justify it.

PvZ is really excellent. It's not very hard, but completely engaging. The time just flies by. The graphics are low-rez, but very, very cute, and there are multiple laugh-out-loud moments at new zombies and plants. I won't give any away, but at least twice I said "oh wow, that's awesome!" at a new enemy type.

The game simply oozes charm from every orifice, including multiple new ones. You may want something absorbent.

I've SO gotten my $10 worth already.

If I had any complaint, I think it would probably be that the ice plants are too strong. The combination of slow AND damage makes them more potent than the price would suggest. They cost 175 sunshine now; I think they should either cost more, or should do no damage and cost about 75.

The magnetic mushroom is worth spending the two slots to get. With careful placement of two of them, you don't have to worry anymore about the really strong special attacks. I'd give examples, but I'm trying to stay spoiler-free.

Good call. I'll try that next time.

Dumb question time! Can PvZ be played in a window or only full screen?

Both. The problem is that PvZ's resolution is 800x600. I keep it in a window because the game in full screen mode is stretched significantly.
