That Pile Ain't Gonna Clear Itself, Get to It!

Another month has passed and in honor of the last week being National Backyard Games Week (really scraping the bottom of the barrel for holidays now), I suggest moving your console to the patio to play. Don't worry about the weather. I guess you could use a DS or PSP and play outside, but where's the creativity there?

This month's Pick of the Pile is

"Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its four protagonists—dubbed the "Survivors"—against hordes of the Infected, zombie-like aggressive mutants. There are four game modes: a single-player mode in which allied characters are controlled by AI; a four-player, co-op Campaign mode; an eight-player online versus mode; and a four-player Survival mode. In all modes, an AI, dubbed "The Director", controls level pacing and item spawns, in an attempt to create a dynamic experience and increase replay value." (wikipedia)

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - pneuman

In a shameless attempt to build up my ego, I'm going with The World Ends with You, which I believe I'm fairly close to finishing already.

Please carry Zelda: Majora's Mask for the N64 over for me

I'd like to finally play through Katamari Damacy (PS2) and not quit halfway through the story as I always do.

Clive Barker's Undying (PC) is another great game that's sat unfinished for far too many years. Time to bring clean underwear and get through it!

...and if I'm really lucky, I might even make it through Robotech Battlecry (NGC/multi) by the end of the month!

12/15 for the year

Please put me down for The Godfather: The Game (360). It's the first one, actually it is multiplatform.

It's probably one of the first few 360 games I had bought, but it got buried under later releases on my pile.

I would've put it on the April list, but I knew I couldnt make it on time. Completion is soon within my grasp.

With great dread, also put me down for Call of Duty 4(360) I need to go back and finish Mile High Club on Veteran. I was just too burnt out at the time, now it will be even harder, cause I'm rusty as hell.

Hm, last month I knocked off Beyond Good and Evil, so my next attempted conquest from the Ubi pack will be Dark Messiah (PC of course).

I've also just caved in to L4D (PC) thanks to a weekend deal so I'll try and get through the campaigns for that.

Lego Batman is till sitting in my PSP feeling very neglected, so put me down for that too!

Possibly bitten off more than I can chew here:)

GalCiv 2 and Sins of a Solar Empire I've both had since they've come out, and I've played maybe 2 hours between them. Awful. And now, I've been sidetracked with the Civ 4 Fall from Heaven 2 Mod.

On the plus side, I did finally knock off World in Conflict after 2 years of gathering dust.

Ok, finally going to finish Mass Effect on 360 this month. I will hopefully also have time to finish up New Super Mario Bros.

I'll commit to the 2nd Phoenix Wright game. I left on the last case and I haven't got back to it since. This will be my first month participating in this!

Budo, neither GalCiv2 nor Sins have any sort of single player "campaign" so it's hard to add it to the pile. There's really no "finishing" it. Titles for the pile tend to have a finite end. Not trying to discourage you, or anything. It's more of a FYI.

I have this problem with portable games. I enjoy them, but I never, ever finish them. I usually play them for an hour or two, and then the DS or PSP loses its charge, and I never re-charge it.

That said, Chrono Trigger is going to fall this month.

I'm hoping to finish up Dead Space and play through Lost and the Damned on the 360 this month. But with multiplayer titles like TF2, L4D and Demigod, that might be a tough prospect.

CoD4

Bioshock on the PC.

I know your pain.

I had given up on ever playing Bully: Scholarship Edition, since the 360 version had major issues and the PC one I bought off Steam turned out to be practically broken. However, apparently Rockstar surprisingly released a patch for it last week after seven months of silence, and the Steam forums are saying the game runs flawlessly now. So sign me up for it.

Put me down for the classic System Shock 2.
I've been playing some Company of Heroes, but I'm not convinced I can beat all the campaigns - seems long and I suck at RTS - so I'll leave that off.
I've also been playing Too Human, but it's having a REALLY hard time grabbing me - might have to be the first game in a while that I abandon...but maybe not.

So just SS2 for now - it's really gripped me. I'll likely add more later.

I'm definitely going to go back and try to finish Yakuza on PS2 (about 1/3 through it already.) If I can do that, I might start Bully on 360 but that may be for next month.

Put me down for The World Ends With You and Left 4 Dead.

Put me down for Company of Heroes. I bought the package deal, but I'm getting married this month, so I'm not sure I'll be able to finish.

Finished! Great ride.

Ok, put me down for Extermination on PS2. I'll try my best!

Okay, I'm finally in a spot where I can likely finish a game:

God of War -- PS2.

It's going to happen. Oh yes.

Put me down for Retro Game Challenge (DS), L4D Campaigns (PC), FarCry 2 (PC), and Dawn of War II.

Okay. I will finish Far Cry 2 this month.

I guess I had chipped away at Godfather pretty aggressively over April. I've completed it. 1250/1250 which is what I was shooting for.

Could you add Bulley: SE for me (360/multiplatform). Kuddles post reminded that it was sitting on my pile. It seems that 'sandbox' games are my thing these days and this one is sinking its hooks into me. Man, just the Halloween missions alone do bring back memories of being a kid (though I didnt do pranks... I swear).

If I can ever get over my 'achievement' addiction I should go back to Scarface.. but ... too may achievement riddled games that dangle the ever elusive carrot/cake. It's not that I need to get all the achievements, but like EQ's DING sound years ago... I like the audio satisfaction of completing some quirky challenge and popping'em.

You can put me down for Eternal Sonata on the 360 - I'm sure I'm near the end but those boss battles are beginning to break me (I hate those things).

Also going to finish Lux-Pain on the DS as I've just started and really enjoying it. Damn those reviewers on IGN and Gamespot - it ain't that bad.

I'm still chipping away at Shadow Hearts 2 (PS2). Man, that game is long. Good, but long.

Put me down for World in Conflict: Soviet Assault. Would have finished it last month but incompatibility with newer NVIDIA drivers = crashes. Finally fixed and I am proceeding again.

Also put me down for STALKER.

Did WiC ever get fully stable with NVIDIA drivers? That game used to crash my system hard (we're talking blue-screen hard) and I often found myself crashed to desktop with 640x480 VGA default display. Completely turning off AA and dropping settings seemed to help a bit, but it still sucked.

Just beat God Hand again, going to start up Ninja Gaiden Black again. Intend to complete Hawx, Resident Evil 5, and Vampire: Bloodlines this month.
