NFL 2008-2009 Off-Season Post-Draft Catch-All

Pages

For stuff directly related to the draft, see *Legion*'s thread. For everything else, you've come to the right place. Let's kick this sucker off right: HBO wants their next season of Hard Knocks to focus on...the Cincinnati Bengals. Let me echo AA's "Please, please, please" and raise them with "with sugar on top."

I loved the Hard Knocks/Inside Training Camps they did on Baltimore and Jacksonville. I really wasn't into KC's, it really lacked the character of those other two, at least every moment that Herm wasn't on screen. I missed Dallas' last year, thanks to NFL Network's preseason replays taking up ALL of my DVR space. I heard it was better, though.

I don't think I would allow myself to miss Cincinnati's dysfunction.

Who wouldn't like Baltimore or Jacksonville?
Two quality, non crazy owner driven teams.

What kind of geek are you if you can't manage your DVR space?

Edgerrin James out of Arizona. If only you had stuck with Indy for just one more season; you'd have a Super Bowl ring, but now you have nothing! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh wait, he has money. Never mind.

You've obviously never tried taping EVERY preseason game replay off of NFL Network.

And Jack Del Rio was in both seasons!

I want to see a Del Rio vs Ditka fight.

Del Rio says, "bring it".

The NFL needs more ex-linebackers as head coaches.

Oh. Um... erm...

Crabtree = Dukakis?

Vikes open to Favre. My immediate reaction?

In similarly odd association news, Michael Vick might actually cave in to PETA's demands in order to help his case for NFL reinstatement. Don't do it man! *chucks holy water* The power of Christ compels you!

Edit: Phew.

Cowboys' practice facility collapses during thunderstorm.

I quintuple post for this.

CCCCoommboobreaker!!!

Torry Holt's finger is freaky. Not being a Rams fan, this is the first I've seen it - Holt says it's a result of years of catching passes and getting that finger dislocated, he decided to just stick with it as is rather than have it surgically realigned.

It looked way more freaky to see him wave it around in video on jaguars.com (jump to 7:39).

Dallas scout left paralyzed from Cowboys practice facility collapse, OSHA investigating.

Well that just takes all the wind out of any potential "raise the roof" jokes...

Larry Foote has been released from Pittsburgh.

Bet there's at least one team converting to a 3-4 this year that goes after him.

He is a solid linebacker. I don't think the pursuit will be contained to the group converting to the 3-4. he would be a nice add to a lot of teams.

That said, first glance at the teams that are moving to the 3-4, I would think that San Fran needs a veteran LB the most. They really need some players on that second level to run with Willis.

*Legion*, please tell me that Adam Schefter is going to be starting at ESPN soon just to stop this sh*t from getting out of control.

Oh lord. Brett. Go away. Please.

C'mon Brett...have a little dignity. Hang up the cleats.

I wish. I have no damn idea what he's thinking. I sure hope there's a fat payday in it for him.

Larry Foote signs a 1-year deal with Detroit.

Well, at least the Lions are making better moves in FA than they did in the draft. I have to admit, I like a linebacking corp with Ernie Sims, Julian Peterson, and Foote. Their defense might up all the way up to mediocre now.

Any predictions for a win total for last years winless wonders of the north?

I am thinking 3 for an over/under.

Where would we be without Mort trying to decipher Brett Favre's text messages?

They play the Rams, Seahawks, Browns, Bengals and Niners, which are teams they *may* be able to beat.

They're generally fairly competitive in their games against their North fpes. I could see them splitting the series with any of them.

I'll be ballsy and take the over.

I'm skeptical about Julian Peterson being able to produce up to the level of his name recognition. His production was high in his first year in Seattle and stepped down each of the two following seasons.

But if you're looking for why teams cruise right through their defense, you can start with the defensive line, which hasn't received any attention other than signing a 52-year-old Grady Jackson.

I wish Denver had picked up Foote. I might have hated McDaniels a little less . . . and I'm not even a Broncos fan, I just live here.

Yeah, but compared to last year it's got to feel like an abundance of riches for lions fans.
Peterson is still a decent linebacker, if a bit overpaid, and Foote is a guy who can play and knows how to win. Put in a squad with Ernie Sims, seems to be a step in the right direction.

True that they should have addressed their lines up and down in the draft. First round would have looked a lot better with Jason Smith/Eugene Monroe and Peria Jerry from those 2 picks.
