Batman: Arkham Asylum Catch-All

Apparently PS3 has exclusive levels letting you play as the Joker

Looks okay - the thug's head went into the wall as Batman hit him. :/

I hope there's some variety and that it's not all brawling.

Then you have to check out the video earlier in the thread.

Have we heard whether or not the PC version will have achievements?

'Swarm' game play. Looks good.

Looks like the server is overwhelmed. I did a quick Youtube search; Is this the same video? Either way, between this and the sneaky bits this game is looking better and better the more I see of it.

Harley Quinn trailer up (and I think *someone's* been playing too much Vampire : Bloodlines)

This is not a bad thing

Goddammit, now I've got that 'Isolated' song stuck in my head...

I did not like Harley Quinn one bit, animation seemed off, model is butt-awful, those ponytails are ridiculous. EIther way, I don't care much for that character so I'll have to endure her when I play this.

Played some swarm at a PS3 demo unit in Gamestop. Not too impressed with the fighting mechanics. I was going to by this day one, now I'm going to wait for some reviews.

Combat trailer. Looks like Assassin's Creed, only without the sword.

Looks great. I really like the look they have created for Batman and the combat seems to have the same 'meatiness' that AC had.

It might be a game to play in some form before buying it. I hope they do a demo.

Delayed.

"Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment can today confirm that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released at the end of summer 2009. This additional time will allow us to ensure Batman: Arkham Asylum is of the highest quality for gamers."

I'd rather see them delay it than release it rushed.

I think this is a smart move. Releasing this game as school starts up will generate a ton of sales if the game is everything that we have seen. I suspect this is marketing and not a production delay. Hopefully the 2 or 3 months delat will just tighten up the controls and. They cannot be doing much more serious squashing of bugs at this point if they are only pushing it back that little.

Does this mean they'll improve the voice acting, too?

Hey!

Don't be knocking Conroy and Hamill!

I'm not; it's just that their delivery (Conroy and Arleen Sorkin more so) sounds terrible in the clips we've seen.

Yeah, that line by Conroy when he was fighting Bane came off pretty weak. Not his fault certainly, but still.

Here's an article that discusses why the voice actors might not sound up to their usual standards. Game development generally isn't a very conducive environment for quality voice performances.

Freeflow combat trailer, which continues to evoke Assassin's Creed in my eye and a character trailer for Poison Ivy. Yowza.

She stole Maria's top from Silent Hill 2, and one of the temple bosses from Windwaker.

The more I see on this game the higher is moves up on my must have day one list. I know Brutal Legend is the sexy pick, and I'm sure it will be great fun, but B:AA looks like it is going to ooze great gameplay. The story looks like it will be fun, but just playing through the challenges looks like it will be as much fun as playing a solid fighting game. The proof will be in the pudding, as it will really be how the game feels in my hand that wil determine if will be as fun as the videos make it look.

The poison ivy trailer was cool, but why can't other studios get the lip-sync that Valve does? Or at least somewhat realistic?

Eidos confirms that the PS3-exclusive DLC will be free, allowing players to frolic about in the game's challenge maps as the Clown Prince of Crime (The Joker) when Batman: Arkham Asylum swoops onto store shelves this August.

Beta footage, but the narration's in Polish:

What's Polish for "combo breaker?"

Love the load screen!

I assume they're poking fun at Mass Effect with that. I didn't even play that game and I still laughed.

But they had the wrong angle. I always rode the elevator with the camera focused on Ashley's butt.

Gamespy takes a spin while likening it to various other Bat-projects over the years.

The Good?

* The environment
* The missions
* Predator gameplay
* Detective mode
* The story
* The cast

The Bad?

* Full-on button-mashing brawls
* Hunt-the-pixel
* Harley Quinn's outfit

Works for me!

The more I see, the more I like. If they have the combat down smooth, this game is going be damn sweet.

I'm all over this game like a fly on batsh*t.

Who else thinking of getting the Collector's edition (comes with a 12 inch freakin' BATARANG!)
