Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

even if most of the series have some episodes marked as "available on disk only."

I noticed this with Dr. Who, but a closer inspection showed that all of the series' episodes were available. As near as I've been able to figure, all of the "disk only" episodes are commentary tracks and other special features. At least with Dr. Who that's the case; haven't looked at anything else really.

For all the fans of Dead Like Me... The feature film followup is now available on Watch Instantly. The Mrs. & I will probably watch it tonight even though some of the watercooler talk about it has tempered my anticipation.

I watched it last week. The watercooler talk is right.

Don't get me wrong, it was great to catch up with the characters and see how they're doing, but it's...different. And it didn't help that some of the original actors weren't in it.

Just finished watching PIN. One of the strangest films I've seen in a long time...

Makes you wonder what your sex toys are REALLY thinking.

The Mrs. & I just finished watching it. Different is not the right word. "Pathetic"? "Crap"? "Pointless"?

I would actually recommend that fans of the series avoid it. Treasure your memories of Der Waffle House and well developed characters sharing deep emotional bonds and witty dialog. Don't tarnish them by watching a D grade, direct to DVD mess of bad direction and stupid writing. And the actress that played Daisy Adair in the film should be drawn & quartered for her crimes against acting.

Reading this makes me sad, but I still have to watch it... it's a compulsion, really.

Another thumbs up for Redbelt. Very good movie.

I see Full Metal Jacket is up now. There's always time to watch that again.

You misspelled "mormon" in the worst way possible.

That's good news. It didn't make much sense for them to have it up for free on the web but not instant watch. Now if Netflix could just get the first 10 seasons of the Simpsons up there, I'd never have to leave the house.

Seasons 1 through 9 of South Park have just been added.

I also see that they've added Matt and Trey's fantastic tale of a Mormon porn star, Orgasmo.

Ouch. What a difference one little letter makes.

Given the fact that I am Mormon, I'll give it to him. Moron is much, much more fitting.

Holy carp, Let The Right One In is on watch instantly! This was the favorite film of 2008 for many of the reviewers at Ain't It Cool.

Okay, so I've been obsessively watching Friday Night Lights. I had heard time and time again how deep the show was. Yadda yadda yadda. So, I gave it a shot and I love it.

The shaky cam can be annoying as all hell, but you get use to it. If you have even a passing interest at football, or none at all, it's worth a shot. A really good drama.

You know what, forget I said anything, just watch this trailer.

Friday Night Lights is really good. It's too bad they went Direct TV only for Season 3 as we have to wait until May for the DVDs to even be released.

What? Dude, that trailer makes me want to stay away! There's no football at all!

Actually, it was shown from January until last week on NBC also. You can watch it on NBC's website, I believe. The third season was much better than the second, imho, it came back down to earth.

That's exactly why I chose that trailer.

Hulu and NBC have a smattering of Season 3 episodes up but not all of them. Annoying.

Is it using the good subtitles or the bad subtitles? Anyone know?

Excellent question. If I watch it, I'll let you know.

Don't do it, really. Please. Save yourself.

I watched it last weekend. I loved the original series, great writing, lovable characters, etc, etc. I don't know who directed and wrote this, but I can't believe that Brian Fuller had anything to do with it. (I just checked, and he didn't: thank god) None of the characters really felt like themselves at all, even the ones that were being played by the original actors. Everything about it just felt....... wrong. Although I will say that the actress that plays George's sister is really growing up to be quite the looker. I almost couldn't believe it was the same person.

If someone else watches "Let the right one in" tell me if your sound is screwed up. The vocal track is barely able to be heard but the soundtrack is fine. Makes it impossible to watch even though it's subtitled. Same thing with "Hit and Run"

Sounds like something's wonky in your speaker setup. If you have a speaker setup that allows you to force surround sound, turn it off. Or on.

Yeah, if you're using a surround-sound setting but don't have a center channel, the vocal track will sound muffled or quiet, because the vocal track is piped through the center channel. If you've got a center channel, make sure your wires are still connected.

Trust me it isn't the receiver or the speakers. Already tried forcing the surround sound as well as just plain old L-R 2 channel. Everything else is fine (bluray, regular tv, regular netflix etc) it's got to be something with the HD movies from netflix.

As in the HD is mixed at 5.1, but the standard isn't? I'm just guessing as there is so little documentation on Netflix's streaming HD service.

Btw, I'm now assuming you're watching through your 360?

nope streaming through a tivo series 3. I suppose that would have been a helpful thing to mention... I completely forgot about my 360. I'll have to try it through there and see what happens.

Wow I had just gotten over my TV addiction ... then I saw this thread. Damnit.

I haven't watched really any of it but "Hank and Mike" looks like it might be hilarious judging from the first 3 minutes....
