Doctor Who *Spoilers Abound! We've lost Containment*

He might not have sprung his departure on the producers until they had already started the most recent season finale's mcguffin- forcing them to put a little distance between the doctor's deaths. "The Doctor's dead! Oh wait, he's okay! Oops! No he's not!"

Sorry if I ruined the episode for you...

Just a heads up for those who aren't keeping track, the first special is airing in the UK April 11th. No word on when it will arrive on the American side of the pond.

Cool.

Ooh that's the same weekend as Red Dwarf, isn't it?

They're doing more Red Dwarf?

Unfortunately they aren't resuming the series, they're just doing a three-part special called Back to Earth. I wonder what it could be about...

That makes sense. THe last series I watched ended on an abrupt note. The series needs a finale, if that's what this is.

They escape from the island, but find the world they left behind not what they really wanted? Then they go on one last three hour tour!

I think so, thought the rumour is that they're willing to do more, if this does well.

Planet of the Dead-- awesome episode. I dug the finale. Very back to the future.

I can spew links at you if you PM me, America.

Fixed.

On a totally unrelated note, guess what I'm doing right now...

Working on it now.

On a semi-related note, anyone been enjoying Red Dwarf?

So the Easter special was quite entertaining. I won't give any spoilers, so I'll just say it was great as always.

Not a bad episode at all. Not sure about the bug-men, they looked a little naff and i really don't like Lee Evans at all but overall pretty good. I like the fact they got away from the usual roster of baddies for once. Nice little ominous note at the end as well.

Haven't seen any of the new episodes but, to be honest, I lost interest in Red Dwarf a long time ago (I think it jumped a space shark somewhere around the time they resurrected the rest of the crew).

I had exactly the same issues, though Evans wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared that he would be when I first saw him.

I just started watching it again from the beginning.

I thought it was a B episode at best. One would think that if they are only doing 4 episodes this year they could have picked 4 really stunning episodes. Instead it was an average episode at best.

Totally agree. It was good and I enjoyed watching it, but I was hoping that the specials would be crazy good seeing as there would be so few of them.

Oh well. I can't wait to see the next one. I loved the ominous ending.

That Michelle Ryan is one saucy little number, though. Hotness!

Good news for all you people who aren't filthy cheaters like me, BBC America is now going to be airing the show staring in late June with the Christmas special.

They've always showed Dr. Who on BBC America on Sat nights, just like a year behind. Are you saying they'll be showing up to date episodes?

For those not afraid of slight spoilers, here's the new companion announcement. Once again, Moffat brings the funny even to a press release.

[edit for additional content]
Also, if you are lucky enough to get BBCA-HD, the specials will be airing on that as well, along with the week-long third series of Torchwood.

And if you are really hardcore, look for Tennant to be guest appearing as the Doctor in two episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures this fall.

BBCA acquired the "first run" rights, which Sci-Fi has held so far. I hope they will be airing stuff closer to when it airs across the pond. The downside is probably cutting the ratings in half. I'm also hoping it will show up in BBCA on-demand, which tends to be much less cut than they are for air.

We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it

This

She's a local girl too apparently.

THIRD SEASON OF TORCHWOOD?!

I goddamn hate living in America.

If you missed the second season of Torchwood (it has aired in the US), keep your eyes open, I can't imagine them not airing reruns early in July during the run up to the new episodes. The end of Series 4 of Doctor Who had a pretty big spoiler for it, though, so watch that. And the third series is actually airing in the US the same week as it is in the UK. I'm hoping they work the same deal for Doctor Who when it starts up again. Of course there is no chance Time Warner will grace me with the new BBCA-HD in time for it to make a difference. And I'm not looking forward to the cost of Blu Ray Who...

Each season has gotten better, and Tennant really grew into the part - but RTD's finales are rubbish.

agreed. the finale of torchwood season 1, where he fought the devil, was so painful to watch. they'd been teasing it to be this big thing the whole series, and then...argh!
