MLB 2009 Playoffs Catch-All

Playoffs. Discuss them. I need a nap.

I'm excited for the season to start.

Derrick Lowe sure looked good last night. That was a dominating performance.

I'm really excited for the season to start. I am hopnig the A's young pitching staff will produce and that they can make a real run in the AL West this year.

Great crappy Boston weather pushed off my season start. Thanks Boston, you still suck!

Slightly NSFW due to language, but really, White Sox? A T-Rex? What, was the velociraptor scheduled to go at Wrigley?

Mr Met says: "Hey, why not"

Tyrannosaurus, Shmannsaurus. The Giants got Captain Sully to throw out the first pitch and he threw a strike!

The O's crushed the Yankees. Can't the season end now?

Magic number is 160.. or something.

It's all downhill from there garion.

Report: Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart killed in a car accident after pitching scoreless innings last night.

I saw that. That's terrible. I'm only 28, but that kid was just getting started in his career. What a shame.

In more joyous new, the Yankees are still winless.

Yeah, saw a bit of that game last night. Uehara looked sharp on the mound for the O's, while Wang, my fellow countryman, sucked eggs for the Yanks.
I guess his sinker hasn't been working all spring after the second half shut down last season. He also left a lot of the pitches high in the zone, and the O's hitters took him for a ride.

I love Karma. All of the annoying cardinal fans that have whined all off-season that the Cards didn't spend a ton of cash and sign Brian Fuentes as a closer have been issuing a steady stream of "I told you so!" all over the local sports talk and forums. Motte gives up four runs in the ninth to cost the Card their first game of the season.

So last night, Fuentes gives up three runs in the ninth to blow his first save of the year for the angels. Motte is getting rookie pay, vs the ridiculous millions people wanted to pay Fuentes.

I love good closers, but they rarely ever worth spending big bucks on.

It's not really your pitchers' fault when you are facing the juggernaut team in my Pittsburgh Pirates! Lets go Bucs!

And right now Jim Bibby, er, I mean Ross Ohlendorf, is no-hitting the Cards through six innings.

Wait, what? Last I checked, Carpenter is tossing a no-no against the Bucs through 7.

EDIT: Nevermind, our scrub 3B just got a hit. Thank God.

Yeah, i had it backwards. I saw the zero, and the Cards were down 1-0. But the Pirates scored without a hit.

It's about to get ugly for Pittsburgh right now.

Scratch that. The Cards turned bases loaded, no one out and the top of the order up into zero more runs. Nice.

Looks like were are going to try to make 2-1 stick, and see if Motte falls apart again.

I love Karma.

Thanks!

Anyway glad to see the Rays taking 2 from the Sox in Boston. A welcome change from the back and forth sweeps of last year. I was in school but saw the last out in today's game. Damn I dislike that Lumberjack Youkillus. He scares me every time he gets up tot he plate. (In reality, I guess that makes him a great player )

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Giants reliever Joe Martinez took a hit right off the face. The cracking sound alone is bloodcurdling.

Damn, thats exactly how I got hurt playing baseball in college. Quite possibly a career ending injury for him. Hopefully he pulls through.

Very dissapointing. In this ripped division, you NEED to win your home series against divisional foes.

Nah, the messier it gets the better chance the O's have to win the division. It'll happen.

Okay, honestly, I'm only replying because I wanted to say that your avatar is amazing. Oddball. Classic.

That's what scares me about Wang. His sinker is both his staple pitch and his out pitch. Most pitchers rely on a fastball as their bread and butter and use an off speed for an out pitch, but Wang is sinker sinker. Granted, when it's on it's filthy nasty and arguably the best sinker in recent history but when he's off, it's pretty much a guaranteed loss as there's nothing else he can go to.

Glad to see the offense wake up and Burnett and Pettite give such strong outings. I'm officially a Nick Swisher fan now too. He seems to have such a good outlook and demeanor. I think we need to package Nady and Melky for a center fielder. I'd love to get Adam Jones or Felix Pie from the O's. Those two guys are exciting to watch.

160-2!!!

Thanks - still my favorite movie!

Well, I went to the game down at Busch today. Not only did I witness one hell of a day by El Hombre, but I get a free Big Mac to boot, as Pujols Grand slam was launched into Big Mac Land. Two home runs and seven RBI's makes for a pretty darn impressive feat.

Wainright took awhile to find his groove, and left after five innings and 103 pitches, but didn't give up any runs. in an 11-2 drubbing of the Astros. Not a bad day at the park at all.

Damn, the Rays are putting up a hitting expose against NY tonight.

Awesome opening ceremony also.

The A's are up 5-1 in the bottom of the second to the Red Soxs. This makes me very happy.

Wang again...just isn't even remotely near good form. Threw up meatballs to the Rays last night.

Was funny seeing Nick Swisher pitch though. I'm lovin this guy! Loved when he shook Jose Molina off even though there were no signs. And he struck out Gabe Kapler!

Sox can be plural as well. The "s" is not necessary.

Seriously, the socks are playing like dried dog turds thus far this season. Not at all what I would like to see.

I'm kinda pissed as a ChiSox fan that we practically gave him away, and he's hitting like gangbusters now. Plus he started out with my third favorite team. Shame.

On a less personal note, I wonder where they're gonna get him consistent at bats once A-rod gets back. Damon in left, Gardner in center, Nady in right, Tex at first, Matsui at DH... now that I think on it, didn't Nady get hurt a couple nights back? Bah. Yankees.
