Don't Be a Fool, Clear Your Pile

Pages

It's almost Spring, the clocks have moved forward and the relative dearth of new releases makes it a prime time to make a move against the pile that's always lurking in the background. Mocking you for your inability to diminish it's size. You close your eyes and can hear its insidious tones...

...Oops, got carried away there. Go find a game and beat it, 'nuff said!

This month's pick of the pile is

[size=30][b]Far Cry 2

"Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are sent to take out 'The Jackal,' a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfil your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit your their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force." I've got no idea what I'm going to play this month. Nothing seems to be screaming "play me!"in the pile. I'll go dig around at home and see if anything grabs my attention.

I'm going through Mass Effect and NWN

I know better than to say that I'll finish a game anything in the same month that my first child is due, but I'm hoping to wrap up Mass Effect on the 360 in the next week or so.

I'm currently chugging through Drakensang. According to Steam I already put more than 50 hours into and I don't see an end in sight. Once that's done, I have Far Cry 2 waiting for me.

I'm putting Far Cry 2 (PC) as my choice this month. I played through till a little over 50% when it first came out and just the other day I picked it up again and I had forgotten how awesome it is.

You lying son of an April fool, Hemi!

Glad you aren't quitting the pile for real-real though. Okay, so I think I can take down... hmm... Madworld is too recently released, right? Tempted to say Stuntman Ignition, but I've barely dented it. I'm going to pass this time, to preserve my precious 1-4 record.

Ok, I really need to clear some space on the ol' hard drive so i'll put ff12 to one side for now and turn my attention to some of the stuff I already have installed...

Lets start with Red Alert 3. I've still got part of the allied and all of the empire campaigns to play so that's first up.

If I get through that i'll probably turn my attention to FarCry 2.

Dead Space (360) is my target to finish this month - I'm already half-way through it.

And thoroughly enjoying it.

Just started Far Cry 2, and I doubt that'll be done by May.

First time I have decided to join this thread. I always thought it was a cool idea to have a support group for slackers and gamers with ADD. The past two months I have made great progress with my pile but have negated it with a couple of sales. I am going to choose Pure for my game to finish this month. I should also be able to finish World of Goo, which is much better than I initially thought it would be.

Drakensang shows an international release of a month ago... a little on the new side for the pile.

Lost Odyssey and Okami (Wii) for me this month. Have a good start on the former, still in the first town on the latter.

Be prepared: Okami is a lot longer than it originally seems to be. A lot of people I've talked to (myself included) have started to feel like the game never ends because it seems to be ending so many times.

I just started Lost Odyssey, so I don't see me finishing that one any time soon. In fact, I'm looking forward to slowly making my way through the game over the next couple of months.

However, I'd love to burn through the missions on Saints' Row 2 (360) this month.

Oh, and I need to finish my initial play-thru of RockBand2. But let's stick with SR2 for now.

And then there's Far Cry 2 waiting on deck. And Lego Indiana Jones — my next attempt to get my wife to play with me.

I'll second that. It wore out its welcome a couple of hours before it ended for me. Tarnished, but didn't ruin, a great gaming experience.

Carry me forward on Assassin's Creed.

Gotcha. But Far Cry 2 is still waiting for Drakensang to be gotten through.

I'm on disk 4 of Lost Odyssey and I really want to put it to bed. Once I'm moved in, and I close on my house, I'm going to knock it off my pile and never look back.

I picked a game at random and ended up with Dragon Quest IV. So there you go.

Another month, another pile. I'm hitting up Dead Space, Aquaria, and Prince of Persia this month. I've already gotten well into DS and Aquaria, so I may have more time near the end. We'll see.

Aquaria. Is the full game as good as the demo? I haven't taken the plunge and bought that one yet, but the demo was fantastic.

Alright, alright. I'll finish Resistance: The Fall Of Man. I will! I won't just play hockey all month. No, really!

I failed at completing Icewind Dale last month, so I'm going to try again for April. As penance, I will also finish Phoenix Wright: Justice for All on the DS!

I got it during the Indie games sale for 33% off. It's good - but a bit long for what it is, IMO. They've got phenomenal mechanics, great art and music, and fun boss battles and minigames - but the world is so big that it can get repetitive and annoying. If they'd cut each major area in half and compressed the whole experience, it would be much more satisfying. Still, I'm about 15 hours in with no real idea how close I am to the end, so it DID grab me. Also - it's a punishing game with save spots instead of quicksave - which just adds to the repetition. Still, it scratches all the Metroidvania itches and is great to control.

Gonna keep plugging away at FF8, I think. I'm not even off of the 1st disk yet, though, so this is gonna take a while.

Final Fantasy 8? Oh, you poor soul.

I know, but I've had the thing since it came out, and I've never gotten past the first disc. I'm tired of seeing that thing looking at me and muttering imprecations under its breath.

I'm about halfway through Dead Space on the 360 as well. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend, although that's always an iffy proposition.

After that, I'm going to work on Fallout 3, also on the 360.

I've put NWN 2 back in the pile.

I think it'll be SWAT 4 Gold and World of Goo (PC) this month. An odd pair I know.

Exciting double-post special time!

You are going to kill yourself before you kill off that game.

I suggest you respond to the muttering disc with the devastating riposte:

"...whatever."

It'll know what you mean. Oh, it'll know.
