Max Payne 3 Catch All

Max Payne 2 is one of my favorite games....evah! I still play it from time to time. More of the same and I'll be happy. Less of the same and I won't be, but I'll play anyway.

Keeping my eye on this one. How funny if this comes out before Alan Wake.

Stupid to complain this soon, but I don't love the bit of art on the RS webpage.

It looks like Lost and Damned dude grew a beard.

It's a tad bit early to be judging the game already. But Max is getting a little old now isn't he?

On any normal day, my joint starts creaking, whispering to me, "You're getting old, Max. You're getting old." Now they're screaming at me to stop this foolishness. But I won't stop. Can't stop. He's out there, somewhere. And if putting a bullet in his head is the last thing I ever do, then I'll do it with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

I just peed a little

Max Payne was the best action game I'd played for a very long time. I loved it. Some people didn't like the narration, I absolutely adored it.

At long last! another Max Payne game. To think we have to deal with yearly iterations of countless vapid licenses and no one bothered to do a follow up to Max Payne 2.

Was it a commercial failure?

If I remember correctly, it didn't do as well as expected.

Surprisingly the film did great (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...). It wouldn't shock me if another were in the works.

I noticed on the splash page there was no Windows icon in the platform icon row. No GFW version? I don't have high hopes for this one.

EDIT: Ok. I read the press release and it does specify PC so I was wrong. Probably not for the last time. Still, I'm more excited about Alan Wake. I think Rock Star will end up giving MP3 the Steven Segal treatment.

Not to derail the thread but everytime I see your avatar I cry a little. As much as I like Max Payne and look forward to a new version what I really want is a real sequel to Interstate 76 (not that crap Activision tried to pass off on us).

Yeah Interstate 82 was trying to cash in on the popularity of Vigilante 8.

It brought 2 things people didn't want:
- Arcadey gameplay
- the 80s

People just didn't want the 80's yet when I'82 came out and I myself was so disappointed the direction the game had taken I didn't even bother to buy the game.

That's a mistake publishers often make... one commercial failure isn't necessarily the IP's fault. In Interstate's case, it was the design decisions of the sequel.

I don't think I'll live to see a release of a true follow-up to I'76 (which, ideally would be I'78 :))

Here's one for the crowd: Interstate 76 advertisement

I want to go off on I76 but it isn't the right thread... There really needs to be an I76 thread.

My money is on Bearded Man being the baddie, not Payne. Everyone knows what Max Payne looks like, and that ain't it.

Yeah, except they changed the guy used as the face model between Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2. So... it's hard to say everyone knows what he looks like.

Yeah, exactly. Max Payne has never had a consistent face. He looked completely different between Max Payne and Max Payne 2, so why not a completely new face for Max Payne 3?

Max Fisher? Max Payne: Conviction?
Be it as it may, I want some scans from that magazine ASAP.

The beard makes me angry but he does look like he could be constipated, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

That gots some kind of Die Hard vibe. The guy is most likely barefoot.

I guess everyone is jumping on the aging hero bandwagon. Solid Snake, Sam Fisher, and now Max Payne. I can't wait until I can shoot up some wolves as a septuagenarian Lara Croft.

Except that Sam Fisher looks inexplicably young in the new trailers. Behind the times, or trendsetters? You choose!

I can accept the beard. I can accept the age. I can accept the new dressing style.

I can't accept the bald head.

Spot on.

Tomb Raider: Menopause?

Is Max Payne seeking revenge against the man who stole his hair?

PASS!

Max Payne 3: Obadiah Stane

I agree with Quintin_Stone. Actually looks like Jeff Bridges from the Iron Man movie to me too.

I hope he climbs into a big suit of power armor at some point.

I have no problem with the look, but they've changed the voice actor and this one is taking place in bright, colourful, sunny Sao Paulo Brazil of all places.

How the hell do you do noir in Sao Paulo?

You can do tropical noir. Case in point: http://www.hawaiiandick.com/

I'm not sure if they're shooting for noir though, which is a shame.
